Hi folks,
I'm having problems with the OGKush from Barneys Farm for the second time.
The vegi always has brown spots and dry leaves, I don't know what to do anymore.
At first I thought it was calcium deficiency and added CalMag, unfortunately no noticeable improvement.

My environment:
LPA, 40L tank, PH in range 5.6-6.4, EC 0.9, temperature 25°C, humidity dry with 35-45%, temperature nutrient solution 20-22°C.
Fertilizer is T.A. Tripart SW.

Other strains do not have this symptom under the same conditions.

Further findings: Leaf temperature of the healthy leaves at the top is about 21°C, the diseased leaves further down have a temperature of up to 31°C!

If anyone can give me a tip, I would be very happy.

That 5.6-6.4 how fast did it go up or down.somethimes if you play too much with it ahe gets it. I got the same thing this year but my pen was not calibrated it was lying a lot

Hi amneziaHaze!

the PH is very stable, maximum is 0.1 down in 24 hours. Can also take 48 hours.
Only at the beginning, when I add the nutrient solution, does the pH drift a little.

PH meter is calibrated, the solution at 7 also shows 7.0

Go to my diary there is a photo from a chart that talks about ec and ph.but ph droping is not the best to have

Thank you!
Yes, I saw it on your site, it looks almost exactly the same.
Do you think it could also be due to the air being too dry?

I've been having the same issues with Barney's, I'm on my second run with them. Someone suggested to me that it's calcium deficiency and that I may not need more calcium but less nitrogen so the calcium is more available to the plants.

Dont know the air was 50+% when it happened to me. But allsoo i got it a few times years ago allways in first few weeks of veg and allways just the bottom first leafs and it never spreads. I know i never have proper humidity at the start.

Ok, of course that could be the case. I will lower the nutrient solution to EC 0.8 and increase the humidity a little.

The strange thing is that I only have it in the vegi for the first 3 weeks, then everything is fine again and the plant continues to grow well.
And it only affects the OG Kush from Barneys, for the 2nd time, Runtz Muffin and Banana Punch from Barneys Farm didn't have it.

so 100 percent like me!
Symptom comes from the lower/oldest leaves and spreads upwards until at some point it stops and everything stays green. Very strange and I don't know what to do.

If you are bothered a lot a full res change would make all the nutes back to perfect levels. Thats the best you can do

This is the first OG Kush a few weeks ago. It now looks great and is in full bloom.
But I would like to fix the problem with the next run

The way it was explained to me is just changing isn't what I need, it's like if you have jello covered in mac and cheese, you're full of mac and cheese but you want jello. You're

The apology I was given is
You have jello, and there's mac and cheese covering it. You can't get just jello, ur gonna get some mac and cheese with it. If there's too much of something in the way the plant can't get what it wants.

Do you mean lockout?
I use the Terra Aquatia/GHE fertilizer theme for Tri Part Soft Water and PH down from Advanced Hydroponics (38% saltpeter).
Possibly too much nitrogen and therefore a lockout of calcium?

Do you think it could also be due to the air being too dry?
That was my first guess.

I have my second OG Kush from RQS and haven't seen a problem like that. I grow in soil, though. I keep my humidity in the low 50s.

Even though it is often said that humidity is not so important in the vegi, I suspect this is the reason. Air that is too dry, resulting in a lack of transpiration (moisture is released too quickly via the leaves, resulting in salinization? Burning? ).
I will get a humidifier and keep the humidity higher during the next cycle with the OGKush.

Or it's just not able to get as much of the calcium as it needs. I'm just here trying to learn 🤣

That could be the case, the question is, why can't the plant absorb the calcium?
Is it the strain? The humidity? PH value?

The company SanLight has videos on Youtube, they did the experiment why CalMag deficiency comes.
They did not find a solution.
One suspicion is that the strains today grow very quickly and have a lot of power and cannot absorb enough calcium.
Another suspicion is the LED lamps. I didn't have anything like that in the past with NDL.

They also said that not all strains show this behavior. Some get it very early, some get it very late or not at all.

I'm just here trying to learn
me too ;-)
