Im gonna be using subs super soil but my ingredients wont be here for about a 4 days then it has to sit for a couple weeks.. The super soil was a last minute decision because i just wanna try it.. But i already germed some vortex in peat pellets, and was wondering if i could just put each one in a cup of pro mix and give it alaska fish fertilizer for the first couple weeks and transplant into 5 gal of the super soil when its ready? Or any other suggestions are appreciated.. I have no other nutes right now.. Just need to get them thru until i an get them into the soil.. Thnx a lot..

I don't see a problem with that. Fish fertilizer is a great way to start seedlings. It sounds like you are all set. The only thing that might be a problem is the plants will need more nutes then just the fish fertilizer after the first two weeks. Also they will outgrow the cup in about ten days if they are healthy. You might consider using something like AACT or a nute from a bottle. They will probably only need one or two feedings before you transplant. Hope that helps. Good luck.

It was my understanding that you only use super soil for after you transplant at the beginning of flowering.

For veg use roots organics or fox farm planting mix ( red bag). Then when you are ready to flower fill your new pot 1/3 with supersoil, then make a buffer layer that is a couple inches thick, mix the buffer layer lightly with the super soil ( just a turn or two of the soil) then transplant in and fill the space with regular soil.

So unless you were planning on vegging for less than 3 weeks, it should be ready by the time you want to flower.

No expert here but done alot of reading / research on super soil and this is just my $0.02. Sub himself say's it needs to sit as close to 30 days as possible. The longer the better. Not all amendments breakdown at the same rate so I don't belive 2 weeks is quite long enough. I waited 26 days on mine but kept it really moist and mixed it up every other day to avoid "hot spots". I also did a couple waterings on it with blackstrap molasses (tsp/gal) to help "feed the herd" as they say. Good luck.

ya wait the full 30 days to let it sit or you might burn your young plants. And make a tea of bat guano(high N),earthworm castings, kelp, alfalfa make a great veg tea and it wont over do a young plant.:banana1sv6:

Thnx for the info.. I was also thinking since im starting seeds that im should just gonna make the drive tomorrow and get some Fox Farm grow. Then find a couple mothers and keep them in pro mix and just feed them that. Then finally just do all my clones in super soil.. It Actually might work out better this way due to the fact that this will save soil and it will be able to sit a while before use.. I think.. But more suggestions always welcome.. Thnx

This sounds like the plan bro. I'd let that soil sit for at least 60 days especially since it's cooler out now. The pro mix with nutes here and there should do you just fine.

Another issue here.. The shop only had 4 bags of roots left for now, and i cant find bio bizz light unless i get it online and shipping is crazy.. So what else can i add to the base soil? A bale of pro mix? or FFOF or Light warrior? Help needed Thnx..

Thnx treebark.. I can only get 4 bags of roots and as u know it calls for 8 bags.. 6 roots and 2 bio biz light. So im 2 bags short of roots and no bio bizz light.. I have everything else thats subs super soil calls for except the soil.. So can i add a whole bale of promix with the 4 bags of roots?? Or mix it with FFOF Or a specific mix of each them?? Thnx again. I just wanna do it right and as close to the original as possible.. I know the base soil is important so im in kind of a bind.. Plus first time doing super soil..

Given those options I would have to suggest FFOF as it does have some goodies in it that promix doesn't would be added to the SuperSoil anyways. FFOF is almost like a "mini" super soil in itself. Most people say FFOF is a little hot but when added in with other stuff it works fantastic.

IMO promix is just a medium and not really a stand alone soil unless your adding lots of nutes. I always amended the ProMix with FFOF and a few other goodies to get some added benefit from it but I also ran chem ferts back then as well.

Hope that helps brother!

I love my super soil.
Without it I always seemed to make some mistake that so shocked my girls that growth would suffer.
Now, with water, molasses, & tea; my garden is on curse control.
I still have problems, but they are curious and educational, rather than necrotic and dreadful.
I have evolved to sprouting and cloning in Rapid Rooters then planting directly into soil. I have on occasion sowed directly into soil, but I find the convenience of having a sprout and its roots protected from my bumbling to be worth the price.
How is Fox Farm Ocean Forest not an commercial formulation of Subs super soil? They seem the same to me.

Writers I trust have convinced me to remove perlite from my mix as archaic technology.

Thnx guys.. I was able to get the total 6 roots and bio bizz so i have the exact recipe.. I just picked up a pack of Jilly Beans as well so it will be Vortex, Larry OG kush and Jilly Beans. Cant wait to taste these.. The mothers are still seedlings so i will have plenty of time to let it sit until clones are produced.. Any grow tips for these strains is appreciated.. I have done maybe 6 grows of Da purps, Jack herers, and Nebulas with pretty good results, but first time in organics, im looking for flavors to explode..
