You might want to look up "calcium deficiency in cannabis", which may be directly related to the PH? I think that's what it looks like.
I'm having the same issues, but I know mine are root bound, and not in the ground.

I've always thought that PH can and should be a little higher in soil than hydro, but if you just flush with a higher acid water (lower PH), it will probably start dissolving some of the nutrients in the soil, including calcium.
