It looks like it trying to open it might be ok if you just keep the shell moist. You could try gently squeezing the shell across the edge and cracking it a little to help it. Then spit on it:D

I wouldnt remove the shell. Doesnt that supply the seedling nutrient storage, and a sort of defense from danger and too much light?

Personally I'd leave the "helmet" on.
Next Time, for seeds, pot them in a smaller pot. This will allow for a better root growth and ability to fill the pot better.
Whats temp and rh?

Why do you keep saying spit on it? Just give it a small pinch til the shell spreads and pull it off.
Apparently there are enzymes in your spit that will Aid in removing the coat.

F@$k spitting on it, there is no need if you have working fingers. If you can't simply grasp it gently and pull it off, something is wrong.
