If this has already been posted, i could not find it!!. lol

BBC2 in the UK from now - 9.00pm

The Blurb:
Cannabis is the world's favourite drug, but also one of the least well understood. Can cannabis cause schizophrenia? Is it addictive? Can it lead you on to harder drugs? Or is it simply a herb, an undervalued medicine? Addiction specialist Dr John Marsden discovers that modern science is finally beginning to find answers to these questions. John traces the cannabis plants birthplace in Kazakhstan; finds the origins of our sensitivity to cannabis in the simple sea-squirt; and finds out just what it does to our brains.

I haven't watched it yet (but I'm sitting here with sticky fingers from trimming - figured it was a better use of the time :)) - but I'm guessing it was a few case studies showing people who smoked weed and then suffered some form of psychosis. I'm not disagreeing with their findings or the facts, but that's not an argument for keeping cannabis either illegal or class B. It's just scaremongering and propaganda. No kids under 18 should be smoking weed anyhow imho....but education is the answer not restricting access. Just telling someone you can't have something just makes them want it more....but if you can convince them it's a bad idea until 18 you've got a much better chance...

Well said FF, i think anyone under 18 should not be given the chance to take marijuana.

Right...I've just watched it. Actually, I take back what I said about govmt propaganda. That was actually a really well made film....balanced, not fearmongering and as about as real as you're likely to get....and couched in some solid science from proper institutions. I was definitely impressed. A few interesting observations:

1) GW Pharma's Sativex is essentially honey oil suspended in a delivery solution! They use ethanol. If it's good enough for them, it's great enough for me......QWISO here I come!!

2) BIG DANKAGE!! Did you see that growroom? Kind of sog/scrog style. Droolworthy.

3) CBD as an antipsychotic. Found this really fascinating....and THC degrades into CBD if I remember correctly, so early harvested vietbong weed is likely to be all THC and no CBD (no ambers). And seeing as those guys are selling to the world, there's more likelihood of that gear getting into young hands....

Really an interesting programme.....recommended imho.

Hey FF, some good points there.

Point 1 about sativex is also true of the pre-1927 cannabis medicines, these were also solvent extracts, such as this one from Parke-Davis:

on number 3 though, let me correct you slightly:

THC and CBD production is controlled by a pair of alleles, Bt and Bd, Bt plants are high in THC, Bd ones high in CBD. You can get Bt plants, Bd plants and Bt/Bd ones that have both alleles. Nearly all modern drug cannabis is Bt only, it had been selected for THC production only as CBD isn't psychoactive, it doesn't get you high, it has other beneficial effects, but getting you high isn't one of them. Despite what some seed companies claim, you will never find more than a miniscule amount of CBD in any modern drug line. The place to find Bd plants that produce CBD is in landraces and cultivars that haven't been worked by man for THC production. Moroccan hashplant lines often had both Bt, Bd and Bt/Bd plants, this is why Moroccan hashish often has some CBD in it, another place where CBD plants still exist is in Japanese landraces.

THC does not degrade into CBD, it degrades into CBN through oxidisation. Leaving a plant past a third amber doesn't mean more CBD, it means more CBN.

i thought what was said remained fairly objective, very good but the inclusion of the depressive loner and the schizophrenic teenager pre-supposes their conditions were induced by cannabis. When other reasons, obvious with the recluse and less so with the teenager, are clearly not explored. Also I was happy with the information given about CBD the non-smoking public would have otherwise not been aware of. Overall I think it could have been alot worse....
