Hello
I use coco with heavy 16. I just harvested. When I examined the root ball I could see clear signs of each transplantation. The roots were most dense in the inner part and got progressively less. Should I score the root ball? or I am waiting too long to transplant period? I would very much appreciate and input.

you'd have to veg the plant in its final home no transplanting, i wouldn't worry about about this issue at all doesn't really seem like an issue,

I would investigate Cap's beneficials.....

When you transplant....water only around the edge of the pot......don't water the rootball....

also...make sure you are fully wetting your coco when you water...watering til you see runoff.

best of luck

I think RE is classified as a root stimulator rather than a beneficial microbe-type product....

but either way...and I've used both.....I guarantee it isn't the same thing as Cap's bennies.

best of luck

roots excel is great, NF Zyme is better, cheaper and gives you're shoots more growth.

Thank everyone for the root porn and advice. I have been using rhyzotonic. I do have the H&G stuff . I use it for clones once the start to show signs of rooting.

Interesting topic, I've been striving for best rooting on transplant too. I water around the edges like Skyhigh says, but just how dry can we really let the core rootball get and not effect negatively? Gets a little tricky with chow as the wicking rate changes, have excavated some rootballs but not many like this under my belt yet..

Gallo, are you using smartpots that airprune, or is there some circling before transplant? Btw, I use iba/naa for roots (prob the thing in all those formulas mentioned).

it's also in tons of jug nutes/additives, in widely varying concentrations. dipNgrow is the cheapest/strongest liquid form I know of if you don't want to mix powders.

I would imagine fairly dry, as long as the roots as the edge are obtaining decent amounts of water. After all, that's how roots work, they go in search of water.

Yeah but in coco then all the little fishbone hairs would dehydrate too, better to keep them always moist. With handwater it's easy to do twice, first outer ring for searching, then inner core ball later. I've even thought of two drip feeds on separate timers for this purpose (just until flip, then evenly throughout for flwr).

True, the root hairs would suffer if allowed to dry out.

with coco I've found that frequent watering assist in building better root systems. if you treat coco like soil you will not get explosive growth of roots or above the pots the way you will with frequent (1-2x a day) watering. i too am a fan of RE but i think after 3 runs of using GH Rapid Start instead I'm getting the same results for 1/2 the price.

Earth Juice Rooter's Mycorrhizae is $10 and will make your roots explode like a bat out of hell. Add a half cap full to the top of your coco. It is not ass good ass great white, but for the price it gets the job done. If you are going to mix in water you can add molasses to it and it will multiply. Add GH Rapid Start to the formula and you have a great combo for success!
