Warm whites have a bit of the green spectrum to them, I read that too much stunts growth as well, in a few places, I always wondered if it would cause stress enough to cause herms

Pardon, not so much speed as the amount of energy and frequency of photons, Photon speed does change when it collides with a charged particle, plant matter contains ions that are charged, so the absorption rate of light is affected

Only due to the color frequency of the light. It is only spectrum that does this. With cmh i needed more nutes than hps. But to get to a lower yield. All the blue mostly helps leaves grow. Not flower.

Lets stop spreading more led myth. They are more efficient. So more usable light from the same watts as hid. Well some of them. But they need supplemental reds for proper flowering in my opinion.

That's why I feel the green and more full spectrum makes for higher cal demand on plants under led. It may not be as efficient as the red and blue spectrums but over the whole plant that extra photosynthesis adds up increasing nutrient needs.

Of course this is just speculation.

Yes this is just speculation. Mostly led growers run higher temps. Increasing photosynthesis.

I looked it up as i had never heard the speed of light mentioned before.

I have a green light display on my light controller. It has not affected the plants. Or a 15 watt green cfl to see during lights out.

A grower i met however had a owerful green led light right over his canopy. The plants directly under did not flower properly. Half revegging.

So in my experience the green light would have to be strong and direct to cause problems.

Interesting read in this. The intensity play a big role from memory. Took me a min to find it.

Good to hear, I was thinking on putting one of the little 15w bulbs in my grow so I can see

Yes that's exactly it. At high ppfd green has more effect than I think most people realize. It's poorly used in comparison to red and blue but also passes deeper and even through the leaf lower into the canopy.

Nice. I am aware that green light fuels processes but it does not affect photoperiod from what i have seen at low levels.

I cant say the same for red lights on appliances. They can affect the plants more.

Yes at low ppfd green has almost no effect. At least that's my understanding. Been a while since I read that but it could also be that green light becomes more effective at or close to red and blue saturation points. Or possibly since green is way less efficient for photosynthesis it's the intensity?

I would have to re read it and I'm not even sure that answer is in there

It was pretty eye opening to see the plants under the other growers big green led bulb. It was fat like a spotlight with a lot of diodes. Cant remember the wattage.

The plants 2 spots over were unaffected.

The forum arguments all were green will or wont cause problems. Never a mention of intensity. Or wattage for our purposes.

Other common argument threads should consider intensity as well I think. Led vs hps for example.

Yeah I think that's where there is a lot of info missing from fully understanding why we have such varying experiences with led. Like I keep saying led is not led.... And you almost need to be a rocket scientist to figure this shit out or you can't explain the difference. More and more controversial studies coming all the time.

By no means am I suggesting I understand it or am a rocket scientist.

I'm a self taught highschool dropout lol.

The tech is moving really fast, a year ago everybody was hot on Cobs, now we know how much better the options are, Electric Sky has been around a while, and they use warm white, look at some of the closet grows from Mr Canuck, half pound under an ES180

The Gavita 1700e has a strong spectrum across the board.

645w actual x 1700 umol.

Seems to be very wide spectrum. from Blue-Red. Not to mention a good dose of green. Its crazy expensive though.

No doubt, they're awesome, just out of my range until I get a few more things sewed up

You can buy an led that has uv and ir in it.
From what I've seen so far, my led is doing just as good as the hps I used to run.

Ditto, I have three LED’s and they all have the IR Nd UV chips. Grew some WW auto that got 5 feet at finish and was the bomb.

I flower with these lights, all I can say it they product well. Run higher temps as states, around 83 with CO2. Have to be careful with these while veg and earlier flower. They can burn the plant pretty easily.

Would love to see pics ? We like bud porn here on the farm! Really interested In the difference the ir and uv make ? How long do you leave the uv and ir on? Also what kinda dry weight you pull from that auto ?
Geez just start a grow diaryso I can follow along ! Lmao Im super interested in the auto game ?

You want samsung 301B or 301H diodes for best efficiency I believe.

I translated this. He wants to know best efficient led if anyone has suggestions.

Yep, The 301H are the newest diodes, and came out in the spring.

Gavita also uses the Osram Deep Red Diodes in their lighting.
