Humidity issuse too low

Here is that problem... I just moved into a new home here in Michigan.... increased the size of my grow op.... before I had a small room with lots of plants crammed in it.. so they were taking care of each other ...now I have a large room with a few plants...

Oh, no, that's not correct. Vapor pressure deficit is the relation between humidity and temperature, and that's the basis of how plants transport water and food through their tissues as they photosynthesize, breathe, grow, etc. I personally find that, for indoors, 40% is far too low, I like it much better in the mid 60s-70s on up. But then, I grow mostly Sativa-dominant lines that like that RH. That said, the Afghani-doms seem to like it plenty good, too. Not necessarily a long time in the 90s range, but if it occasionally wanders up there I haven't found ill effect. I know others have, of course.

In order to better understand what's going on, you need to understand what vapor pressure deficit is. Look up @ttystikk 's stuff.
Real good info here^

Yes I read every bit of all the information you gave me... totally understand what's going on inside my plants...

Large room and few plants means they need help with humidity; either seal the room- or seal it better- or add a swamp cooler. Warm mist humidifiers might work but definitely don't aim the hot vapor anywhere near a plant!

Low 70s isn't warm enough for good growth- needs to be upper 70s to mid 80s, get your RH up into the sixties or even 70%, add CO²... you know, on a shoestring budget, lol.

Really???..no shoe string budget here...i moved up here for this...all the grow stores up here hav to order a hydrofogger...sayin it can take 7 to 10 days... I have co2 I have a sealed room.. problem is if I turn on my HID's I burn the humidity right out if I turn on my tv5's it's not warm enough... so then I add a space heater burn the humidity right off... I'm kind of stuck in a catch 22 that's why I bought a warm mist humidifier... only thing that I could get a spur of the moment to add humidity last night...

What is the floor like? If it's concrete, just put some water on it and let it evaporate. Not inches, but puddles. Aim a fan across the puddle, water will evaporate... and not deposit crap on everything.

As your plants get bigger and transit Moyer, they'll take over the job. Until then, do everything you can to hasten that day... so turn your HIDs back on!

I will do that...just one? ..i have 12 plants....room is 20*15... shouldnt the #6.-4ft t5s...wit plant max bulbs be enough lite?

Btw...lov all this science talk...lol...that why i joined this site...wen all else fails..u can count on science...

If i keep everything in the "green"...should not everything just start to grow...i mean all the leaves were standing talk..all day...(lights on)...them right before the lights turned off..my leafs drop...why is this?...i always ran 24-7...now wit out a 4 hour nap they will stay droopy...why is this? My seedlings are on 24-7... jist fine

As much as i will try to keep water on floor...this can not be a consistent way to keep humidity in the air... isn't consistency more important???.

Not wantin to open a can of worms or argue the point....but charts are charts and reality is reality. I go on my own experience here. Others will likely have different experiences. Just spewin what I've seen play out here..over 20+ years of time..... nothin more.

Case in point....the 59F/55% humidity box, the lowest "green" reading on the chart...is far from optimal. I would...and have...and do...grow @ humidities in far less percentages. Maybe I'm just used to running my rooms here in CO drier w/no added manipulation of RH beyond the intro of irrigation water/etc.... but I'd rather be 75/25 than 59/55 because I know where cannabis growth will occur more rapidly in my space..regardless of "VPD". The chart is not cannabis specific...and i think that is an important fact to note from the fine print. Like I say...not wanting to argue the merits of the chart/etc.....just speaking to what I see in my own space.

Back to you.... if you are in soil..increasing the pot size substantially will help raise RH levels. This is how I do it now...going from mostly 2 gal to 7-10 gallon containers...and from 25% humidity to a constant 40-55% humidity as a result.

My other idea is to panda plastic off a space that is smaller/easier to manipulate RH overall...and more like the space you had previously. expand from there when shit rights itself........

I ran a humidifier a few runs...bumping it to 65%-70%...but the only difference I saw was a bit more bud and less frost.
As this is a dry climate and I'm a homeowner...the added humidity just didn't work for me. Others play differently, for sure.

good luck

Skyhigh..i feel u..i cant understand wat is goin on here..i ran same strain for yrs..and yrs ..then some shit happen lost strain...legal reasons...and i cant understand wat is goin on... I use the same nutrients same soil same everything outside... everything will grow just fine...(this past summer)..... I even thought something might have been wrong with my house..ie molds ...watever... so I moved... still same problems.... I've always ran in the 70's and 40 percent humidity... never had any problems... these guys and everyone here just seems to have the most knowledge of allthe the sites i hav read...so i thought everyone here would help... I know increase my humidity has helped...i know givin my plants a break has helped... they have had days in which they just grow normal and other days in which they won't grow just a stagnant...at wits end!!!!!

Out of curiosity did you find a solution to your problem? Im dealing with close to same issues.

Like @ttystikk stated above if you want to get humidity up in your room and its cement ground spray some water on ground little puddles... You notice how when you water your plants humid goes up.. If you are not on a cement floor try to fill up buckets with water and place around your room that should help a little. Sealed room you might need a swamp cooler and if its small enough a mister might work
