Hey i have been looking at several ways to upgrade my system and be the most efficient. I have 2 bloom rooms with 7 lights in one and soon to be 8 lights in the other. right now im on a budget but in the future i would like to go all out.
i did the math on hydro innovations system if i was to run all the ice box chillers after each light, hydrogen chilled co2 gen, chilled dehum, rez chiller, water cooled 5 ton air handler (over Kill), 12hp chiller (self contained= over kill), and all the parts to put it all together.

if i was to do this i was thinking cool tubes or magnum xxxl 8" with quantum 1000w digital ballasts. anyone have any ideas.

the set up is pretty expensive and i want to know if it is worth it.

I would also be running two Under Current systems in each room. a 16 site under 4 lights on one side of the room and a 12 site under 3 lights due to dead space.

the other bloom room would be 2-16 site unites under 4 lights each.

both rooms would have a scrog set up for max yield.

let me know what you think and if you have experience with these systems.

like i said not cheap, complete with everything right around 70k

Alright I have some experience here. I have found that "dealing" with the hood heat and using a chiller for that, sucks. At this point I have just gotten another 6 inch high cfm fan to take the heat from the hoods and all together just remove it to the outside of the house instead of cooling that heat in the tent. Its pointless to cool that heat when it can just be extracted. I run a completely sealed tent with co2 and a a/c by the way.

I have three of their products and experimented with almost all.

Hydro Innovations..
Minigen (the water cooling feature is really not needed) Awesome
Icebox (no longer used)
Co2 Monitor

Anyhow long story short, sealed room with hoods vented outside of the grow rocks. Why need to deal with a additional chiller for the hood heat? ;)

Water-cooling your lights via iceboxes works if you have low humidity in your grow rooms.

With what you have specced out, it's a lot of money to buy the water chiller, water-cooled air handler, etc. If you're running 8k x 2, it's cheaper to run 2 3-ton mini-splits. Plus, you don't have to run any ducting or bother with air-cooled hoods. You're looking at $3500 parts+labor per mini-split.

70k just to water-cool your room is way too expensive.

basically what you just described is what im running right now. on a wii bit larger scale.

i have a fantech 12xl pushing my air through 4 of the 7 lights right now. reason its pushing is cause it is suckin the air off my greenhouse patio through a carbon filter first then through the light and outside. i plan on running ducting to another 3 lights in the room (need money) and when my patio harvest is up then flip the fan for efficiency. then it will be pullin ice cold air through the lights. put the carbon filter in storage.

i have a 14k btu portable ac on a shelf that is ducted outside as well. has an intake duct and an outlet duct. im hoping im not expelling co2 for no reason.

anywho thanks for your input.

70k was everything; lights, ballasts, hoods, chiller, ect, ect, ect.

just the water cooled system was 50ish.

the issue at hand is energy. i only have 125amps here. i pulled 50amps into my first grow room. i was considering doing flip-flop boxes and switch up the light cycle. or do the checker board idea.

for the checker board i was waiting to see the yield off of rollinendough study.

i just don't know how far i can push this house without having a electrician come out and put a bigger box in.

dont get me wrong 50k+ is alot of money. but i want to be efficient too. the mini splits whats the amperage on those? my portable a/c cant be that great. its a 13seer

Think about what I was referring to for a while.. Deal with the heat, or get rid of it. I was interested in only using 1 fan at the time so my mind was in a box. The way I have it now is sooo much more efficient. Honestly I am not even using the fan+carbon filter in the tent since its in very early veg.

The fan going to the lights can be ducted directly outside since its sealed. The carbon filter and another high flow 6'inch fan will handle the odor in the sealed tent. Zing!

For sure that's what I have right now. Just alot bigger than a tent. It seems to be the vest so far. Plus I live in a cool climate about 6k feet up. Weather is nice.
Looks like I just need Rez chillers and some more lights and I'll be a happy camper

i just took some pics. ill put them up in a min.

everyone please feel free to post pix and comments of your set up and how it is working for you.

A/C has a 12' fan that blows very nice. The ducting is a little small even for this small 6500BTU a/c. I did a Y pipe before using that inline fan, but the problem is it creates a constant negative flow extracting co2 and cooled air potentially.

Look at the top of the tent, thats the light intake. I could also route it to the other side of the garage to pull fresh air from a different spot, suck it through the lights, and out that port in the picture above.

When winter comes if heat is needed I will just redirect it back to the tent more than likely.

no and thats a no go where i live sound fuckin carries. far!

ya i figure i gonna run one room a undercurrent and the other one a mpb i think. i want to put them both to the test. i both going to have vertical lights then i may do a test when i get some more money of a scrog with horizantal light over them. just to see. we will see thow.

thanks for the info. how much ac do you need if you vent your lights? 8 lights does anyone know?

i've heard really bad things about their co2 generator. the local store has had to return 2 because they leak water. that sounds like a quality control issue and he didnt even want to stock them but he said he had a customer that insisted on getting one so he ordered it in for him. i think i'll stick to the tank it's easy to swap out and cheaper to get a refill then the extra btu of ac needed for the heat a generator throws i believe.

Steven at Hydro Innovations just told me that they've got a new application they're introducing that will make Ice Boxes, Dehueys, and AC's unnecessary.....all you need is a chiller and a Air Handler.....

He told me the details of how it's done and all I can say is it's about to change the game, especially for all you water culture guys already needing chillers.

It's the new style 2.0
