I used to struggle with the cure as well. I really like the taste of fresh dried weed when it's really dank and always thought they got worse after curing. What I was doing wrong was drying too fast, too hot. Since I started wet trimming lightly and drying nugs in hanging herb drying net rack, keeping temps 68-72, RH 50-60ish, and fan blowing near buds, but not on, they dry nicely in 7-10 days. My cure is 10-15g in a quart jar, burping more frequently first week, then 1-10 min/day for several more weeks. I always put a 62% Boveda pack in the jar right away, and tumble the buds when I burp. After a couple weeks, just burp every couple days and check for weirdness.
Even after all this, I still think the flavor is better on some before it goes to curing jars, lol, but noticeably harsher. And a weird thing, my stash stays out in the shed all winter and freezes solid for several months (Boveda pack and all), in the spring when I go to get a new jar for smoking, I find the dankness and flavor all seem to be much, much better than after 3-4 weeks of curing, and I seem to get even more buzzed when smoking these long-stored buds. I'm smoking some now that was cured in Aug 2023, and it's supreme.
