It has to do with uptake of nutrients. Microorganisms in the soil known as mycorrhizae are fungi that have a symbiotic relationship with the roots of the plants. They're common in nature, but I believe most of us use commercially bred types. The symbiotic relationship means the fungi feed to plants and the plants support the fungi. This is why organic growers are mostly unconcerned with pH. Contrast that with synthetic nutrients that the roots uptake directly, which requires a specific soil pH range of about 5.8 to 6.2. This difference often causes confusion.Could you explain the organic method you use because I'm planning on using compost out of my compost pile, mixed in with Walmart soil, them adding things like worm casting and idk what do you add or how do you setup your soil?
Indeed. As a general rule, it's a bad idea to bring anything from the outside into our inside grow space.I'm a little worried my compost might get me bugs though. It's really nice compost lots of good bacteria, but might have bugs too.

There isn't a definite soil recipe for organic growing. I started with Fox Farm soil but amend it with other ingredients every time I mix it. By now, it's well composted. I add things like earthworm castings, biochar, azomite, Epsom Salt and gypsum. I also use Gaia Green dry nutrients. I also use perlite and rice hulls for porosity.
I think the best thing about organic growing is how forgiving it is. I've described some of what I do. Others successfully do it differently. If you're interested in learning more, I suggest starting a thread about it. I'm not the only organic grower here.

I use the same brand of biochar. It's only about 20% of my mixture, though. I don't use potash because potassium is in the fertilizer I use. I also don't use fish shit.I picked up some of this the other day this has the main ingredients for the living soil. Was planning on doing half and half of this and some other sort of medium, but then I wasn't sure on what to feed. I also grabbed some worm casting, potash, and some type of fish shit.
I don't do living soil. It's similar but not the same.I've done some reading on the living soil but I need to do more as my last set of clones are almost ready to put in dirt.
I use Gaia Green All Purpose 4-4-4 for vegetation and Power Bloom 2-8-4 for flowering.Do you know what the nutrients numbers are on the dry nutrients your using? I can grab some dry slow release nutes.
Perfect thanks for the info, very much appreciated.I use the same brand of biochar. It's only about 20% of my mixture, though. I don't use potash because potassium is in the fertilizer I use. I also don't use fish shit.

Wow, your plants look absolutely amazing! You’ve done an incredible job with them—so healthy and vibrant!Just saying, I kinda suck at growing.

Thanks couldn't have made it this far without spider farm awesome gear. 3 years not a single issue, very reliable. We all make mistakes and have issues at times. I'm not scared to show mine and share what I have learned from my mistakes.Wow, your plants look absolutely amazing! You’ve done an incredible job with them—so healthy and vibrant!
Man we all strive to be better at this grow game we all love so much. I also grow with Pro mix and I like it much better than Fox Farm soils ime. And since I’ve transitioned to organic growing with adding things like Gaia Green to my grow its doing WAY better than the grows I ran using the FF trio. And I’m really digging just water only. Seems to be so much easier and my plants look way happier. Just some food for thought. Best of luck broYeah I just want bigger harvest, and I always have this issue mid to late flower, so this kinda has given me more insight on the problem. I think promix is good at holding water good at holding nutes, good at holding salt.
To think that a plant might need more water then nutes, who would have thought.Feed, feed, water, I think is too much, I'm move to a water, water, water feed schedule and see what happens.
The Foliar spray is a great idea I haven't been doing and I have a batch of fox farm flower kisses already made up, I'm give them that tonight.
I recycle mineNice job on the plant structure she well spread out, stop using recycle media.
Same here.I recycle mine
I hear that, so I'm here to agree with your assessment. We will have to agree to disagree. Salt based fertilizers have salt in them, too much salt in your soil will create a nutrient lock out. I don't understand why this site will not accept that possibility but it is what it is. Thank you for all your support and help over the years. It's very much appreciated.
The salts will rinse away with adequate flushing. If that's the scale why does Fox farm include flushes in its feeding schedule? And do they have sledge hammer flush which is designed to create voids in the medium to allow salts to exit?
I saw it, First Blood and all that...Did you see the quoted post he called me an idiot so I said that's pretty idiotic. I didn't call anyone an idiot.
