Hello team!

Great news this morning; my scrog net was delivered 3 days early!

Perfect.

Yesterday, I had already re-trained Sylvia, so I took the opportunity to set up the scrog net.

I did my best since it's my first time, so if you see anything that can be improved, don't hesitate to let me know!

Temperature:

Min.: 23ºC
Max.: 27ºC

Humidity:
Min.: 42%
Max.: 50%

Watering

One watering with 2L of water since the last post.

Fertilization

→ 4 ml/L Sensi Grow
→ 2 ml/L Bud Candy

Question:

→ How do I water my plant that is so close to the ground? I don't even have space to get through with my watering can 😅If anyone has a solution, I'm all ears!

I would put my to water in a bucket and use this. But I also had a watering can tip to put over it. My lights are off now so I can't get you a pic. It's not a very good pump but the hose can get under the plant.

Thank you for the tips AZreefer !

I just bought one this morning :)
A very quick update today.

Yesterday, I allowed myself a little defoliation.

I saw the results on other grow journals, and it gave me FOMO haha.

After researching the feasibility on an auto, I decided to take responsibility and removed about ten leaves to allow better light penetration under the canopy.

And this morning, it seems to have paid off as many small branches have grown 2 to 3 cm in the last 24 hours.

We'll keep an eye on the progress, but the bet seems successful for now.

The photos (day 40):

Hello team!

Sylvia has recovered well from her defoliation, and I've noticed a real growth boost in the secondary branches, especially those below the canopy.

So yesterday, I did it again.

It had been 48 hours since the first defoliation, so she had time to recover.

This time, I mainly removed the leaves under the canopy that weren't getting much light, plus a few fan leaves like the first time.

In total, I removed about 20 leaves.

Watering:

Two waterings with 0.5 gallons of water each since the last post, both with nutrients.

She’s becoming more demanding for water, so I'm going to increase the frequency of watering. It used to be every 3 days, now every 2 days, but I'll keep the amount at 0.5 gallons of water, as that seems suitable for the pot size.

I've read that the best growers follow this rule to calculate the amount of water:1.2 gallons of water for 1.1 pounds of expected dry yield.

Since I have 1 plant, I estimate a maximum expected yield of 5.3 ounces dry.

5.3/17.6 = 0.3 * 1.2 gallons = 0.32 gallons of water per day in theory.

Maybe I'll switch to daily watering with 0.32 gallons during flowering.

In that case, I'll fertilize every other watering.

Worth a try! :)

Fertilizing:

→ 4 ml/L Sensi Grow
→ 2 ml/L bud candy

I'm waiting for the pistils to come out before gradually introducing the bloom fertilizer.

Question:

Sylvia is taking up more and more horizontal space in the tent.

And my small LED panel doesn't cover the entire tent area uniformly.

Panel size: 1212 inchesTent size: 3131 inches

In the center, I have 450 PPFD, and in the corners, barely 250 PPFD.

So, I'm thinking about buying a second panel...

What do you think?

More light is always better to have on hand. Then you always have enough to make her happy in flower.

Also I learned the hard way you need to add more water sometimes to keep your potting media from drying out to promote robust root growth. The prescribed amount may be too little. You should water in a higher volume of water and soak your entire pot at this point. Then wait 3 days or so and do it again. This will help her roots spread into the pot better.

Hey guys, thank your for your comments !

@AZreefer , noted I'll increase the volume of water, tomorrow I'll water with 3 liters to see how the plant reacts :)

I'll try to see what I can do about this light as well 🧐

Hello team,

The scrog is ongoing, along with defoliation.

I've had to do 2-3 additional defoliation sessions since the last update.

The same pattern applies: removing the fan leaves to maximize light penetration, as well as the leaves under the canopy that no longer receive light.

Watering:
I've done 3 waterings with about 0.8 gallons (3 liters) of water since the last post, all with nutrients.

Sylvia seems to have a good appetite for nutrients and handles feeding well, so I'm taking advantage of that.

Feeding:

→ 0.5 tsp/qt (4 ml/L) Sensi Grow
→ 0.13 tsp/qt (1 ml/L) Sensi Bloom
→ 0.25 tsp/qt (2 ml/L) Bud Candy

I started introducing the bloom nutrients yesterday, and I'll gradually increase it as soon as the pistils emerge.

That's all for now :)

She looks awesome and about to explode!

You should start adding more water every feeding. You in a 5 gallon? Start adding 2 rounds of 3l separated by 30 min each time you water. It was explained to me by a wise grower that over watering is a condition brought on by watering too frequently and not a single addition of too much water. After this made sense to me I began adding twice as much water per watering. I slowly water in 6l in my 5 gallon grow pots when they need watering. I'm putting 18l in my 15 gallon pots. Very slowly. There is very little run off which is what I want because I'm using organics but the pots are getting completely saturated every watering.

I hope that helps. I learned the hard way on this and can see the difference in the size of my plants that were able to expand their roots better than 2 of them were obviously stunted from under developed roots.

Before your next watering lift your pot and note the weight of it dry. Then saturate your pot. Don't water again until the pot is back to the dry weight.

Hey @AZreefer ,

Thanks for the tip, I'll try this tonight for he watering !

Growth had been stagnating a bit for the past 7 days, so I decided to bring the LED panel closer to the plants to see if it would help...

And BOOM.

Crazy growth over the last 48 hours :

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeey

Super excited, my new LED panel has arrived!!!

It's killing it ✌️

I went from 600 PPFD in the center and 400 in the corners...

...to 1100 PPFD in the center and 830 in the corners.

PER-FECT.

I'm the happiest guy in town lol.

Here are the photos of Sylvia at Week 8, can't wait to see what it looks like in 48 hours with this new panel :

SCROG

I'd say that 90% of the future buds are now evenly spread.

I'll LST some of the last ones but we're mostly done with the training, now it's all about letting Sylvia do her job :)

WATERING

Yesterday I tried watering with 4L of water to test.

I watered 2L very slowly, waited 45 minutes, then watered another 2L very slowly.

I had a lot of runoff, I think about 1L of water.

You can still see the runoff in the photos, even tho it had 20 hours do dry off.

So I'm going to stick with 3L of water every 2 days :)

Peace

Slow is the key of your potting media was allowed to dry. What size pot are you in?

I guess we officially in bloom now !

Next watering I'll introduce big buds fertilizer and increase a bit the bloom fertilizers, while still giving grow fertilizer for now on.

My pot is 5 gallons and it's probably full at 4 gallons.

But my medium is soil, I think it can't handle as much water as coco.

With 3 liters given in a 1H period, I already have some run-off.
