Cost more than Gavita's. No info I could see on specific diodes etc. But they look well done.Products | Aelius LED! ✨🌱
Our premium quality commercial Aelius LED fixtures include proven spectrums, sleek design, and a variety of certified LED benefits.www.aeliusled.com
These are about the only other ones I found with a 5 year warranty , I know nothing about them, so not sure how they compare to the Gavita's , I believe they are made in Canada
I've been looking at the Matrx Redd
I think I read they are , they also offer and 8 week trail don't like it send it backOh, and don’t forget- make sure they are waterproof!!!
That's impressive.I think I read they are , they also offer and 8 week trail don't like it send it back
Information on diodes brand and bin, driver, cooling passive or other, recommended % of power to run at, tempsnof the fixture at 100% power after stabilized, angle of the lenses, A ppfd map if possible, are they 3rd party tested for verified specifications, the diode makeup of the fixture (are they all the same or is there a ratio of red, mixture of say 3000k and 5000k, 4000k etc)Ok you LED guys whats the technical questions about the light I should be asking?

Those are the ones that jump out to me.
Sounds like a very promising startThank you I will ask them all that and get back to you with what they and see what you think , what i know so far is, Samsung’s newest chip design , cooling passive cpmplete dust and water jet safe

A few things about the Gavita's vs. all the other LED, including the above one............
Check the warranty...........Gavita offers an industry leading 5 year warranty, I haven't seen anyone else offer anything above 3 years. The reason they offer a better warranty is because they don't "push" the diodes to the same degree, so they last longer.
Next up is the amount of diodes the lights include. The Gavita has around 3300+, most of the other similar ones have about 1000 less diodes. This is why they don't have to push them hard, the extra amount of diodes makes up for the difference in light.
Lastly, I don't believe the above claim of 3.0 umol/J.........what I've read is many manufacturers overstate that number and it's more likely around 2.8 or so. There is a calculation to figure it out which I don't know, but I see others discussing it......... so make sure you check that out thoroughly.
When I bought the Gavita's, I knew absolutely nothing about LED's. I have grower friends in Colorado, with big buck operations. This was the unit recommended to me, and I just bought them. I didn't ask any questions, I trust them explicitly.
New sub here..and just in time to see the harvest coming up. It's been a long time since a thread has kept my attention to read it through in one sitting..Great job SSHZ. Some grow sites are all about playing swords and measuring tapes. this has been refreshing and informative. I too am an old guy messing with the new growing tech, Though not quite as high end as your stuff ;) actually haven't even set mine up yet, still waiting for my seeds. I haven't grown in 20+ years so a lot has changed. I went with full spectrum LEDs, but couldn't resist throwing a CMH in there..just needed some sort of bulb to satisfy this old brain, we will see how it turns out..
What has made this thread so awesome is your experience and humility..for a dude that has been growing for 25 years to not have a closed mind and super ego is very rare rare. Of course the others that have chimed in have been equally chivalrous
Thank you for the info, pictures and videos.. I am excited for your crop; it's almost like we have been growing this batch with you.
.Can't wait to see the results!
Peace, love and good vibes to this entire thread
If you love tinkering, have you tried building your own supplemental far red? I need more soldering skills but it does not look that hard. Cree sells the diodes in stars and singles...Yea, I think the 3.0 umol/j is most obiviously theoretical. (although, I was actually thinking 2.6 or 2.7 umol/j) But maybe your right. I suspect because the IR and UV in these lights, making it more difficult to easily measure (but an expensive/integral component, takes up resources) So there likely accounting for the unmeasurable spectrum that's not going to show on a standard light meter, probably only able to measure on a mass spectrometry, which is hella expensive.
I've been studying this tech for awhile now, since around 2010, (I've also built my own computers for the last 20 years, watercooling and all) and I've done tons of research. The UV/IR is necessary from my perspective for overall enhanced oil production during the flower.
I've taken 2 of my lights apart the last few days to maintenance them, clean them up, and check them out, (clean the fans and heatsyncs, remove dust from the driver units) then back into service, I've got some avionics (corrosion x) that's really good for keeping them in top running condition. I've also thought about using conformal silicon to enhance there "waterproofing" But I've not done that yet. (I"ve done it to my drones) I'm kinda an electronics geek as well as the cannabis thing. I want my stuff to last, so maintenance is a must. I've got good soldering and electrical troubleshooting skills, so that's not a problem if something happens at some point..
LED's have more maintenance issues than HPS units, especially if any fans are involved for active cooling. That's why I like the newer units like yours, but there not without potential problems either. Ever allowing these lights to heat up, is a really, really bad thing, and diminishes overall efficiency and lifespan, just as you say.
I'll probably open this next light tomorrow, maybe I'll take more pictures of what I actually do inside.
Yea, I couldn't agree more. The level of professionalism I see on these forums is amazing, the staff is great. I'm interested to see how a hybrid LED old school setup might perform, it should be interesting. Are you planning on going to another spectrum during the flower, and do it all the way though the grow (ie. switch over to HPS?)
I've got 2 big double ended units sitting in my bedroom, along with some other older LED setups, and here I am thinking about another light.
