what i found out is just give the plant time. don't try and rush and come to a decision. several times i thought i had a male and then didnt pay attention to the plant only to find out that it was a female. And she was neglected due to my bias.
Boy.
Funny story.
High school, early nineties, geology class, teacher is out, have sub.
So the sub is a dead ringer for Pat. Like it did it on purpose or something.
Mike shows up late to class.
He has a question.
He leans over to me and asks
"Hey, what's the sub's name?"
"Pat", I respond.
He raises his hand.
"Pat?"
Hilarity ensues.
Too early to tell as stated, i find them fastest on a node or 2 down from the top is usually the first hairs just give it a couple days and you will know for sure growing is a process of waiting don't rush things
