Hey all,

Took my first crop down a week ago and been drying 60/60 since. None of the branches were really snapping but the buds were very dry so I bucked and trimmed then jarred them up. After 16 hours the jars are only reading between 53-57% on the meters.

The buds feel normal to me, albeit a little fluffy on the outside. Is this alright? Should I burp less or still go for 3 times a day? I've only burped once since jarring.

Thanks for any help.

It's only been in jars for 24 hours. I haven't tried smoking it yet. I keep reading that below 62% the cure doesn't take place, is this not correct? Smells amazing, no hint of "hay" smell.

I think it’s below 55% the cure stops. Could be wrong.

I use Integra boost packs in the jars to hold the cure humidity perfect. Work better than boveda for 2 way control IMO.
get an 8g pack for each of the jars. I use the 65% for the cure.
burp only when it gets around 65%

People have cured buds for decades without using a hygrometer. It is useful for some people, but I don't believe that should be the primary focus of attention to get a special number of RH. This is because other factors will affect RH and how much it should be based on your specific conditions and factors. For example, if someone has a jar half full, it will usually have lower RH compared to someone with completely full jars. So what works for one situation might not work the same for you.

The buds look great, and I don't think the cure stops just because the RH is below 60%. Drying the buds slowly is the most important part IMO. When they rehydrate in the jars, the RH could drop below 60% and believe that is fine. They will continue to cure for weeks after this until they get to the point where they smell and smoke to your satisfaction.

If you want to keep as much RH as possible, don't burp more than once a day. The longer they cure, the less you will need to burp the jars. I think they will turn out great, and good luck.

Thank you guys. I was figuring the hygrometers would just add to much confusion for my first time. Especially because I don't know how well I trust their calibration lol. Definitely has no qualms about the quality of the bud, I've smoked some now and it's pretty amazing even without the cure!

Just keep it simple. Seems like they already turned out dank, good shit 👍

I cut down 2 plants a little late which were reading at 54% humidity, kept jars closed for 3weeks, they went upto 57% ,smell etc was amazing on them, much better than the ones I burped every couple of days down from high 68s to 58% humidity.

Just keep closed and burp if they reach over 60/62%

Rh measures air moisture. Bud moisture is what I care about. Need to get it down to about 10-12% in 3-4 weeks. 9-10% is perfect for storage imo.

If it were mine.

Put it all together in an air tight container with all the meters to get an average and raise the temperature to 72 degrees to get it to sweat to increase the rh in the air (the moisture in the bud will follow.

I've been drying, and curing bud a long time.
I've never checked humidity, as it's going to rise drastically as the moisture comes out of the bud. (It will decrease over time). Make sure it's burped several times a day until it reached the disired moisture content *I go for 8%.
When it's stable in the jars, continue burping once a week, then once a month........Eventually a couple times a year.
This is no shit, I have bud that's been curing since 2013. SMOOTH

How do you do that. My buds are stored in dark jars at 65f and are pretty much garbage imo after 16 months. 8 years curing? I call bullshit.

Please, I don't bullshit. Look at my gallery, and how far back that goes, and most of those picks are from 2013-14, and i still have em..Anyway in my gallery you should see 20, or so jars. At that time they were already a few years old.
I'll show you a jar or 2 from the same batch, as i stopped growing completely to raise my kids several years ago
I'm back, as the laws in my area are changing, and I'm looking to run a very large op, hopefully within the year.
Your jars went to crap, as you left too much moisture in the buds.
I actually like when people call BS on me :)

I jars are spot on. You got caught lying. Case closed.

You got me. Dude, I've been doing this 35 years. Once a dry, and cure is done correctly, they should last indefinitely.
I ended up doing large warehouse grows where there was no jars. Just Turkey bags, and rows of filled drying racks. For breeding I have done some grows at home, and when I the bud is special, or has a special characteristic, I will cure.
All the bud I've smoked these past 3-4 years all came from jars that range frim 3-4-, to 9 years old.
Don't make me show you ha.
They are preserved for good. I only open when I grab some meds

Complete bullshit. You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Anyone who has grown a few years knows you are lying.
Please stop posting misinformation.
