Is there a bug that eats the stem outside?

I have a few plants in flower that look like something chewed off an inch of the stem covering and its down to bare bone almost.

Most likely a rodent of some kind but pics would let me know for sure. Voles, mice, rats and squirrels love to chew on stems.

I wrap my main stems about 6 inches high with 1/4" hardware mesh...or some good heavy tinfoil. I always have mousetraps set as well.

Mice caused me my biggest loss by far in 25 years of growing. The chew around the whole stem and it quickly kills plants.

Its got to be fucking mice! Damn those basyafds. Eat the leaves.. not the stem! Lol

rabbits would be my first guess without pics,but mice will do it also.rabbits will go from the ground up to where they cant reach anymore if they like it,they will keep coming back till its stripped about 12 to 18 inches up.mice would be much smaller area close to the ground.
