freezeland2 makes a good point about avoiding couch lock. If the goal is to make sleepy-time weed to combat insomnia, does it make sense to grow longer, where most tricombs are amber?
yea as I understand that is the diff.
Upbeat ,active and possible paranoid for more milky and couch lock sleepy time for amber .
As I understand ....
No. When you let an upbeat sativa go too long until they are amber it doesn’t feel like a good indica, it rather feels like it makes to lazy and missing out on what that strain had to offer before being harvested too late. That degradation is turning the trichome mostly CBN. If you want a upbeat high you need an upbeat cannabinoid composition (usually sativa) and if you want a heavy body feeling and maybe that warm sleepy or cozy feeling (doesn’t have to be sleepy) then it’s usually indica strains. Most everything is a hybrid now and leans one way or the other like 60/40, 50/50, 80/20 etc,

Bro science is ignorant assumptions based on absurd “logic”. This video describing trichomes is just science.

I posted another thread with this video but no responses .
Skip to week 7 for what it is worth [3:38 in ] .

Is this Bro science or fact ?

week 8 is highest at 16% THC. Week 9 thc dropped 4%. Some guys are thinking WTF from 16% to 12% in one week? That's not what he's saying. week 9 thc is 15.36%

And it is percentages. I mean we know, or let's say it seems fine to assume, that the plant doesn't loose cannabinoids, the trichs don't fly away. So what has happened is that the bud organic inner matter got more heavy, the calyxes did swell up and so the relative composition of cannabinoids vs dry plant matter did change.

In a way this "dilution effect" greatly sabotages a proper view or outlook on that specific field.

It would be better if the cannabinoid numbers were stated as netto number as well

I took these last Monday, not seeing any amber (yeah crappy phone cam), planned to cut next Monday, was going to wait longer but the plants have been though hell, heat stress, mites & now some bud rot that I cut out so I think it might be good to call it a day, stick with plan & do better next time. 🤷‍♂️
