Start a thread, I want to hear how you do this. The mountains would be tough in winter. I have a cabin in the hills with all the amenities and there is now way I would last up there. Remember the shining? I would be just like Jack after a few months of minus 20 with nothing to do.As not to hi-jack the thread I might start a separate thread on what I do and how I do it..and some pics..if it's cool with Logic and the mods.
btw, I am fortunate to have internet, a satellite dish mounted on a tree...haha. I have some nice mountain views and can catch the phone and internet towers.
The banking cartels lured everyone into debt, therefore it is almost impossible to get off the merry-go-round. It took me some serious planning but I did it in little bites...a much easier transition, IMO. Trust me, it gets easier as you go....but the first year and first winter was a steep learning curve.

The more I think on this the more I go back to my roots based on simplicity. Fuck money and what it stands for. Why not create a society where things that hold value can be exchanged for other things of value?...aka barter and trade. Much like the settlers and Indians did and I am sure many other civilizations long ago. For example, everyone has something of value and say I have fresh tomatoes. I need some firewood. Ken has firewood. We work out and agree to a fair trade and off we go. The only people who would not like this idea are the lazy fucks. Because they would get nothing if they have nothing and were too lazy to make something of themselves. Survival of the fittest at work. This would make people PRODUCTIVE. This would make people feel as though they themselves are worth something. People who can take care of themselves and families are very proud people. Just look and talk to the old timers who survived on their own and were still happy as shit. They had no debt, they lived simple and were not forced to be slaves working some shitty-ass job being paid peanuts.
I always look at the Amish and Mennonites and adore the interesting way they live. I like it, except for the "religion" stuff. But they raise their children to be craftsmen and show them how to work with their hands. They are masters of all trades which is well-needed for them to survive and be happy. They are leather-smiths and black smiths, carpenters and farmers and well-round horsemen, and they keep it simple.
As far as gold, silver and precious metals go? I do not like how they mine for it. It's toxic to the planet and us. The extraction process and use of cyanide is deadly. Uranium mining is even worse. And in todays greedy and corrupted world, only the very rich elites have all the rights to mine for precious metals and us simpletons do not. Not cool in my books. So the rich will get richer and the rest of us will fight over the leftovers, the tiny crumbs of gold and silver and attempt to make a decent living off of it. But yes, as the modern world is today, the precious metals hold great buying power. I decided to put what little money I had elsewhere. I wished I had invested in some, but oh well. My focus was moreso on buying acreage and creating my own self-sufficient lifestyle. I was tired of the slavery that I was born into.
I would rather see people create a skill or two, advance their God-given talents and then have something to be proud of. Then use whatever that skill may be to barter and trade and to sustain a happy lifestyle. But as I have said before, I was born in the wrong g-dam era. I really don't feel like I belong here. But my crazy belief system and ideas could still be used today by anyone who dares to take a walk on the wild side. I live in a tipi, I have no running water. I have no electric but I do have some limited solar power. I buy my clothes at Goodwill and get pants and shirts for 3 bucks. I grow my own veggies and kill and butcher my own wild game. I have zero debt. I drive a beat up Jeep with 230,000 miles and love it. For what little money I need, I work doing oddjobs every now and then. When I make some cash I sit back and chill. I have time to talk with folks, take walks and just plain live. It gives me time to get ripped and sit around and think of anything that passes through my brain. I jumped off that crazy g-dam modern day merry-go-round a long time a ago and never looked back. People think I am absolutely nuts..and then there are a few who think what I am doing is cooler than shit. But mostly people call me "that crazy-guy living in the tipi." My way is not always the right way for other people, but it suits me just fine. As Chickenman says: "To each his own." :)
People who don't agree like you said are the lazy bastards who have nothing to contribute to society. I agree with every single thing you said and plan on saving up for my own land to sustain enough food / herb to trade for other skills / items like you said. Its the ONLY way to live fairly imo and if most people seen the benefits to this life style we could tweak our system to be the fair to all, live in peace and let innovation guide us through any hardships. I especially like when you said "It gives me time to get ripped and sit around and think of anything that passes through my brain" That is where all my innovativeness and creativeness comes from, being able to sit and think everyday for a while. Meanwhile mostly everyone is at work not thinking creatively or about what they want, rather taking orders from someone higher up in some dead end job they dont wanna be. I'm still a young guy in my early 20's and Im telling you people who trust the government or have any faith the government will do good by the people are the crazy ones. Its such a cliche but like Einstein said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" We are not the crazy ones, we believe in true freedom not this fake freedom everyone thinks they have.
We have seen the system fail its people time after time and cry out for everyone else to take notice but they seem to be either too asleep or just too unwilling to change the way their minds work.. People cant stand being wrong and that goes double if you tell people the way they live life isnt the right way. People can call that statement arrogant but its true, people are killing our earth to get rich and it isnt even you who's getting rich. The USA has more debt than there is resources in the world to pay the debt back with.. that should be the CLEAREST indication the financial system is broken and all the system was designed for was to enslave its people to mine the earth's precious minerals and build a society for the people who claim to be elite. Either people wake up to the truth and help people like Kolah,Ken or anyone who thinks like us to take this plane out of a tail spin. If we dont its obvious whats going to happen, we become further enslaved while the oceans and wild life die off due to the continual mismanagement of our earth. I have hope for humanity, I honestly believe the government will try and pull off something very very stupid sometime in the future that will fully expose them even to people who dont buy into how evil they are. One love everybody, freedom will prosper my friends.
The amount of "Available" resources in the U.S. far surpasses our debt... That is Fact. Why do you think we can carry such A debt? Huge Collateral my friend! Natural Recorces, Realestate, Buildings, Planes, Trains, Autos, Trucks, Military Equipment (Highest Technology in the World) Land, Infastructure (Power, Transportation, Railways, Bridges) and of course People... 314,000,000 of us and counting... The biggest resource of all. The things that have come from the minds of our people alone have generated A stagering amount of money. You under estamate the Net Worth of the U.S. by A long Shot! Do you Really believe the "Net Worth" of the entire U.S. is only 10 or 15 trillion dollars? and we Can't come up with the Cash? Things are definately not so bright but the game is not over by any means. We the People are the Military and The Government and I find it hard to believe that Dr. Evil is going to collectively "Brain Wash" 314,000,000 of us simutaniously and were all going to follow his orders! I say Bull F*#%ing Shot!
I have my Foil Hat to protect me and last time I checked I can go any where in the world I choose and so can everyone else! (Maybe not Felons/Criminals... No Offense!) The Grass is not Greener on the other side of the fence bro... You are in the best place you can be (In my Opinion) The U.S.! If you think your odds are better somewhere else, your young, Take A trip around the world, If you can't afford it, do it Via. Google (Another of our Peoples Great Ideas by the Way, used world wide!) and I'll Personally Great you when you Return to This Sh*t Hole!
Have A Great DayBrother! Be All You Can Be, Maybe You Will Change the World, Who Knows. The Only Thing That Limits Us is Self!
