I feel like most athletic Americans tend to gravitate towards the more popular sports leaving 'soccer' under represented. Especially after hosting this world cup I expect to see improvement in the next couple of world cups.I'm pretty sure the world cup is done in a way that the top teams from each region will qualify. So you don't travel around the world for the qualifiers. That's why you get teams like Iraq qualify and Italy don't as there's so many high quality European teams. Agreed! It’s pretty popular till you get to the college level! Then you have television hyping, March madness, college World Series, the frozen four, and the college football playoffs now! Rarely see a college soccer game or the trophy that they are playing for! They all book it for Europe and the leagues over there! That’s where the dough is!
