Junk's Growing Log

My girlfriend always steals my lighters . Yeah, but that's not nearly as annoying as one that don't smoke. My last wife smoked when I married her, then she quit. That be some false f^ckin advertisin man. Now, she ain't my girl no more, hehe.

...hey, to my friends on here...

If you've known me on here long enough then you know my cousin has been battling terminal cancer. I was told by his wife tonight that his oncologist is taking him off of chemotherapy because it's no longer doing any good. He's already been turned into a paraplegic by cancer in his spine about 6-8mos ago and now it's started growing at a rapid rate again in his liver. He's down to a 1/3 of a liver, a half kidney, and his pancreas recently stopped working. We have no reason to expect him to last much longer but he still chooses to fight for his life with everything he's got. I'm impressed and inspired by this man. He's outlived the original prognosis by 8-9yrs.

I'm asking my friends (or anyone willing) to pray for him. I have no interest in any theological debates so if you you don't agree then please refrain from commenting. I'm asking for your help because it doesn't get more serious than this and I believe every prayer counts. I'm almost certain he's going to die very soon but I still believe in miracles so if there's any chance at saving him, I'm all for it.

On the other side of this, he'll be survived by his adult daughter, wife, and 11yr old son. They could use the prayer support as much or more than him.

I'm truly blessed to have friends like you and over the last couple years you all have really made me feel like I'm part of a family here. Thank you all soooo much for your support and prayers.

It makes me sad to read this. I am already hoping for him to get better. He and his family will be in prayers.

Positive thoughts coming from our house @SmithsJunk

Both mrs. Mmg and i have had to deal with it in our families. Take it very easy friend. All we can do is what we can do.

Grow Log 04/05/19

The seedlings continued to stretch even up to 75%. So I held there and lowered it. They should stop stretching now. I'm not going to name what's here till I have a final tally. Should end up between 20-26. Some are a bit weak but as soon as those primaries unfold they should get into a good growth rate.

Loaded the 20" with some "killer sh*t". Even made a label, hehe. It's just a mix of any good herb I get. Right now it's got all mine, RNK, BIC, COC, BC, two strains of Girl Scout Cookies, Game Changer, and various kief. Doing it like sour dough starter. Never let it get below 2/3 before adding something new. It's really really good right now. I did this cause sometimes I just wanna get high and not have to decide "by what".

Had some change on an Amazon card I bought for parts to replace a 30a breaker that's bottlenecking my solar wattage...

...so I ordered silver nitrate today. Will buy crystals next time I have an extra $35 but I wanted the brown bottle for making more...

...Will buy some sodium thiosulfate (pentahydrate, cause it's cheap) in a few days when I have more $$$...

...Unlike the silver nitrate the liquid in a brown bottle is more expensive. I need to buy a 100ml brown bottle set, one w/sprayer. Will have to black bag it once its mixed. For those of you who dont know, this is for making silver thiosulfate to produce pollen on female plant branches. This is used to make fem beans. Much higher rate of success that using colloidal silver. Tried that last winter and it sucked.

While planning my grow room build over the last 2yrs I've come up with a lot of ideas both feasible and ridiculous. One of the ideas was to build subterranean cooling pipes (not feasible). However, cutting holes in the floor and installing fans in them is very doable. The room's floor will sit above the ground with 6"-12" of space. High enough to hold a good volume of cool air whilst still low enough to not have hot air blowing in from the sides. I think ill cover the sides to keep it from circulating too much and losing that cool air. I'd dig narrow trenches but they would fill with water the very next time it rained and that would cause all kinds of problems. The best thing would be to pour a concrete slab underneath, but again, not feasible. Still, pulling my air from below should help when it gets hotter.

I'm also thinking of insulating the walls with Celotex or whatever foam board insulating product is used nowadays (depending on the price).

Will be wiring up computer case fans for intake. They will all be low pressure fans designed to move volume while remaining quiet and energy efficient. They'll use pwm controllers with USB .5a adapters. Should be much more efficient than the standard squirrel cages.

Initially, my total power consumption will need to be well under 320w but I can augment it with power from the pole till I get another 4 solar panels (400w) and 2-4 more 100ah batteries (100-200 amp hours respectively, since only 50% of the battery can be used). After that I'm lookin at 500w-640w (700w-750w mid-summer). That's plenty.

My network is beginning to grow again and trading has picked up. Looks like we're on a rebound so money is beginning to trickle in again. Finally.

I know I'm getting the parts to fix this problem but man does it drive me nuts seeing it. The only reason I haven't erased it is just in case I need it for a warranty replacement on my charge controller. That should be reading around "2000kWh daily/4000 total". Even when it's raining they should be operating at 10%-25%. I sure hope the parts I'm replacing fix this.

Thanks

Dude, it's totally gimped right now and it's still fully bada$$. It's running at like 12%-13% and it's still putting out more than enough to charge my phone on a 2.1a cable/plug and my netbook. Its not your average netbook though. It's a special gaming series sleeper with a dedicated Radeon GPU and an oversised blower. Its pulling up to 48w and it's not sitting idle. Still, the battery voltage only dropped below full once. It's a great feeling to know you own the power.

It's charging the Galaxy S6 Im using to take the picture with and it's a power hog. None of the components are even warm. The AC inverter is on the cool side of tepid, hehe.

You're gonna like it man. And I'm pretty certain I'll have it fixed tomorrow. Will be wirking on my deck and growroom tomorrow too. I'll put up pics.

Hahaha, I'm so baked I said "it's" like 50 times in that last post. Looked like a 3rd grade essay.

Smoking on this nasty looking tar rosin I pressed from Banana Ice Cream #2 & #3 dry ice hash. Looks like rotten slime but hits like booku fire.

Changing out that 30a inline breaker didn't seem to do much. Maybe it's a setting, or the batteries are too full. I need to do some more research into the problem.

Traded enough today to order another 4x 100w panels and another 100ah battery. No matter the issue that's bottlenecking my wattage, I still need more. In the description of my panels it says they have diodes already installed. I wonder if the 10a fuses I added are redundant and are just adding resistance. I'll figure this out. I love puzzles anyway.

Been running my 200w fixture off solar for half the day and the battery voltage only dropped by about 1/6 their operating range. Thats a good sign.

Ill go through the solar genny from top to bottom tomorrow if it's not raining. If it is raining I'll work on my growroom. It's nice to have a bit of change in the pocket to get things done.

From what I've been reading my low wattage problem may not be a problem at all. My batteries were topped off so my charge controller way have just lowered the input wattage.

Ordered the sodium thiosulfate (pentahydrate) and a set of amber glass spray bottles. So I'm all set for making some fem beans this summer. My 20 smartpots will be here Tues and Im working on obtaining soil. Got a lot going on and trying to delegate my very limited fundage to the most useful projects has been a challenge.

Starting to build up a number of hatchlings...

Ran my 200w fixture on the batteries last night/this morning and didn't realise I was running them down too low. It shouldn't be a problem only one time and I didn't run them completely down. The battery and panels I ordered should solve this.

My panels got some decent sunlight today and I adjusted their direction slightly. They jumped up around 200w a few times so I know there's nothing wrong with them. It's just shade from trees and stormy skies. When the 4 panels I ordered get here I'll connect them in 4 parallel sets of 2 in series. That should increase my efficiency and kick up the wattage a good bit.

Here's a chart that shows the battery % at certain voltage ranges and how long they can run a device based on amps and amp hours available. Lead acid batteries really only do half that and lithium can do 80% of it.

Added another 4x8 section to my deck. Will add 1 more 4x8 by the door and a little 4x4 by my (future) breakfast nook window. Want a little fairy garden there and maybe a cast iron bistro table and stools. It will stay outside when I enclose the other 12 feet.

Got tired of almost stabbing myself trying to poke drain holes in the Solo cups, so I left em in a stack and ran a drill through em. Made quick work of it. I'm never getting stabbed doing this task again.
