Grow Log 7/1/18

This heat wave has caused tremendous growth in a few of the plants, especially the Idunnoes. It is already almost 6' with more than 1.5 months left in the veg cycle. I was going to supercrop it but decided to let it go and see how big it gets (just for fun, why not). The pot is shallow so I'll bamboo stake on either side and tie it for support.

For real dude! I'm trippin. They are way way bigger than last year's at this time and the biggest of those reached 9 feet. They were clones but I don't know if that makes any difference in growth rates. Here's a pic from July 1st 2017...

My first harvest was well over 10lbs of cured bud. That was also with the loss of weight from harvesting the Creamsicle too early, the mite infestation, some shady locations, and being too close together. This time all my girls are in the best locations for light, no mites so far, and are spaced and staggered. I won't be feeding them $2k in nutes this year but I'm confident my yield will still be far bigger, with no loss in quality, at a tiny fraction of the cost. I made so many mistakes last year and was anxious over everything. This year, now that they're all sexed and planted outside, I got no worries and am penguin cool.

I really want to set up my tent but I need to build my deck first and I am broke as .... this month. Friggin insurance rate hikes this year caught me off guard and my trailer repairs are killin me. I've still got time with a little over a month to take clones. Thinking this stall may be a good thing since it has been so hot and due to monetary limitations I haven't been able to build a cooling system for the tent.

I know I said I wouldn't supercrop the Idunnoes but because that pot is so shallow it may behoove me to go ahead and do it anyway. There is a whole lot of veg time left and a supercrop could fill the roots and branches out real nice as well as keeping it under the shade cloth. Sorry I'm being so serendipitous but I was very baked earlier when I decided to let it grow tall, hehe.

Just infused 2lbs of butter butter with, I honestly have no idea how much, premo sugar shake and 2nd harvest buds. It's a combination of Royal Nepal Kush and Orange Creamsicle. I used unsifted sugar shake so all the kief was still in it. I licked the spoon once and I have a healthy blaze goin on. I'm lookin to offload some chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies for the 4th. Going to give samples to my friends and a few extra to share with their friends. The best way to drum up extra moolah anymore is perishable edibles because Cali banned them from dispensaries. Good edibles are in high demand now. (I don't know how seriously the dispensaries are adhering to the new rules but there are definitely fewer mota munchies out there lately.) My guess is I used over a half pound, hehe.

It did not flow easily through 90 micron mesh. Had to queese it out. Next time I'll get a big sheet of it then twist squeese out a half batch at a time. At least I was able to recovered most of the butter and my hands are really soft now.

For real dude! This is gonna put some folks flat on their a$$es, ROFL (+evil cackle). I've never made edibles the proper way by making the butter first. Always just cooked the weed into stuff. Been wanting to do this for a long time.

Thank you.

When I watched that "Cooking on High" show they were using infused olive oil and butter provided by the show. This guy Ngaio, who I think is the producer, always introduces the strains being used and is described as an expert. He said it can be made in a Crock Pot on low for 2-3 hrs. His recipe is 1/4oz of weed to 1lb of butter (if I remember correctly). But as Tim the tool man would say "Needs more power! Ugh, ugh, ugh!" I figured if 1/4 zip is good, then 1/4lb would be great, and even much more better, hehe. I ain't trying to hide the flavor. I say "let your weed flag fly!" That butter is filtered through 90 micron mesh. It isn't greeeen from particulate. (Well, technically it might be, but you get what I'm saying.) Other than a few bits of pulp that fell off the spoon and I couldn't catch, it is totally filtered. Those are going to be some bada$$ cookies! Perfect for fireworks. Yay.

For being surrounded by growers everyone around here sure gets excited when edibles come round. A person who can make potent edibles is in high demand, especially if they're home made. Normally I would make cookies from scratch but I'm just too poor right now. I had to settle for Betty Crocker (the only premixed cookies I'll use). I can get by with them on my first batch if my butter is strong enough, and it definitely is. When I do an olive oil infusion it'll be a lot less herb and probably on a double boiler instead of in a Crock Pot. Olive oil is more delicate and it would likely be used in recipes that require a more subtle flavor. I really really really want to make weed infused sesame oil. It'll be tricky but I love a challenge. I almost always dive right in first to make all the mistakes, then refine my techniques. My first vape cartridges were nasty but now they're as smooth and tasty as the ones from the dispensaries.

I need to use some of this butter for Rice Crispy treats and Goo Balls with Rece's Pieces. Gotta take it back to the old school munchies. Another good use would be peanut butter Bit 'o Honeys, if I can remember the recipe (I may need to infuse peanut butter for that though).

I made a small batch of chocolate chip cookies with that butter. After an hour and a half I'm sittin here thinking, "Did I not do this right?" Then... ZAAAAAANG!!! I am sooo off the hook baked right now I can barely write this. A most excellent body high and that classic dopey effect on the head. I did it right, hehe.

Oh, man. This stuff rocks.

I'll post up some pics of the dough, the butter, and the next batch. Doubled the butter the recipe called for and the dough turned green. Got it clean of particulate, only green in color. It's kinda trippy lookin and would work for St. Patty's day. It tasted nice in the cookies. The Orange Creamsicle lived up to it's name with a vanilla citrus flavor and a pear smell. I know what to do with the OC this year. It's stoney but a harsh cough when smoked and very fragrant. It makes sense to use it in cooking instead, where these qualities are a positive.

...and again, a most excellent body high.

The butter, looks like avocado.

The dough, the butter hardened up quickly in the fridge. I thought it might come out grainy but it softened nicely at room temperature and mixed well with the dough.

Chocolate chip cookies, hint of orange peel and an energizing buzz from the Orange Creamsicle and that 'WHAM!' from the Royal Nepal Kush. The high is ferocious but not overwhelming.

(PS, the high on these cookies is really nice. I'm on my third cookie and the floaty body high gets stronger as well as the intense "all that sh*t is funny" effect. The whole time, not overwhelming.)

This is a fun day, ROFL

I top cropped the Idunnoes. It's right about 6' now but I have no doubt it's still gonna push the tent. The solar shade cloth will be like a massive ScrOG. Cool.

hahaha loving the way that dough looks. I've always had problems with edibles being too strong in the past. You make me want to try my hand at it again. Sounds like you got a good dosage going on.

Thank you.

Planning on letting it grow into the screen. I think it will bend itself and cause the lower branches to grow more as well.
