Flower Tent

Hey everyone it's time for the tent update. It's about week 2 of flower and the little nugs are surely coming in. I will say that I have noticed a change in plant structure following the replacement of the 600w HPS with the 3k 600w PSMH. It Isn't quite as bright(from what my eyes tell me) so some of the outer branches are suffering as a result(stretching). It doesn't have as much penetration power so I attribute the added "stretch" all around as well. Well we are only a few steps in so we shall see how the PSMH rides out the rest of the way. The bud sites still look good and plentiful though so I'm still quite optimistic.

I am considering getting rid of my 600w and 400w ballast in order to attain the Galaxy select a watt ballast(1000w, 600w, and 400w). With that I could try out the power of 1000w and if It's too much for me I can just tone it down.

Anyway here is what I have been feeding them.

Feeding(9/17/10)
250ppm cal mag
7.7ml PBP bloom
5ml Silica Blast
15ml ancient amber
8ml Bud Candy
1ml roots excelurator
10ml hygrozyme
15ml trinity
15ml HP
PH 5.9
PPM=750(about 1.5EC)

Mom Tent
Here's a small update on the mom's I have. They are doing quite well except my Chem Dawg seems to have a slight Mg def that it fluctuates in an out of. It's not extremely severe but I am wondering why it's happening. Possibly too much N? I do notice they are a bit green. Here's what I have been feeding them.

The last addition of Huvega was my attempt to correct the Mg def(or lockout).

The good news is they have been responding very well to topping! I topped them each once a couple weeks ago. Then tons of side branches started coming up and then I topped all of the those branches as well a week later. The ladies just keep bushing out more and more. They have pretty much taken over the whole bottom section. I have to top them again right before I water today. Gotta keep those ladies under control.

lookin good bro! u make beer too we gotta hang :friday::passingjoint::friday::passingjoint::time lol

Looking good all around.
Did you switch to pure blend pro from pura vida? I thought I remember seeing you using it. DO you notice lower ph with pura vida?

hehe right on winta! I just started getting into making beer recently so I wouldn't say I'm well versed yet, but I aim to create a good ale I can sip on:nod:beer

Thanks man! I used Pura Vida on the outdoor girls, and in the beginning with the moms. The reason I was using it is i was just trying to finish it off as I have a some extra Pura Vida laying around from last year. I will say it definitely held it's shelf life. It's still good and it's been over a year. Great stuff really. I like how it comes with all the trace minerals as well. Pura Vida most definitely drops your PH hard when you add it to R/O water. That's ok though i just adjust it. Plus I tend to use humega all the time with it and that raises the PH a bit. The reason I switched to PBP is I merely wanted use it and see how it works out. As you may have noticed I have switched my nutrient line for every single grow so far. Kind of a noob move, but I just want to see what's out their ya know?

i feel u i been thinkin of tryin to brew my own as well cuz i like GOOD beer and that shit is expensive specially with all the nutes and soil i gotta get ;) lol

Ya Good beer most definitely costs more. That's one of the reasons I'm making my own, but my other reason is to try and attain something that cannot be bought! If you get into it PM me and I'll try and fill you in on anything I know so far.

thats whats up bro i appreciate it :party0033:

Flower Tent Update

It's week 3 of flower and they seem to be coming along quite well. I can't wait to see what this 3k has to offer. I have my doubts about it but I also have beliefs as well. Only time will tell right? So far I really like pure coco. It's drainage properties are pretty awesome indeed, and it seems to provide faster growth(although I havn't run real tests so I can't say for sure). It stays wet for a decent amount of time but not too long witch I like(givin my environment and pot size etc.). The nugs seem to be filling it a bit now, and hopefully this time around I hope to not run into any N problems. Here is what I have been feeding them as of late.

Feeding(9/26/10)
250ppm cal mag
7.7ml PBP bloom
5ml Silica Blast
15ml ancient amber
8ml Bud Candy
1ml roots excelurator
10ml hygrozyme
15ml Huvega
15ml HP
PH 5.9
PPM=790(about 1.6EC)

So far PBP seems to be really solid. I like it. Here are some pictures for ya.

Bro that tent is always killin it! You're going to have Chem, Headband, and Casey for days! And that is not a problem at all! Hit a brotha up! lol

Peace cut throat.

Looking good. Thanks for the response on the pbp. Good stuff.
Glad you got the n worked out. Saw you ran the grow nutes the first week or two or flower. I was concerned the extra n would contribute to stretch, but found it made a difference for me as well.

You feed the plants in coco every time? or do you use water in-between feedings?

-Lead

Your outdoor cone head garden is freakin awesome justice. The tent is looking good but the cone heads are the stars right now. Excellent job!!!!!

they are lookin beautiful bro!
Thanks man I am glad that the super soil did what it was suppose to because I was gonna be let down if I ran into PH troubles or unbalanced nute profiles. Takes a bit of prep measuring, mixing, and composting. Good thing it worked out!

Thanks dude It will be interesting to measure the kill level since I'm using a 3k PSMH this time around!

No prob man. Ya I was running into N problems in the middle of flower for the past couple grows. Each time I've been more confident in giving consistent nutrients. I feed every watering. I think that was one of the reasons I was having N problems as N gets flushed from mediums quite easily. But mind you this was because my feedings were a bit lighter then usual. Of course one could do a heavy feeding and then apply just water in between heavy feedings but my aim is to just feed a consistent amount every time and then maybe give them just water If I see too much N or what not.

Your outdoor cone head garden is freakin awesome justice. The tent is looking good but the cone heads are the stars right now. Excellent job!!!!!

Thanks Tobor! Yup your right the tent will have it's time to shine, but the outdoor ladies only get it once a year so they have to go big!

Outdoor Flower Update

Hey everyone! It's week 8 now(well actually a few days ago) so the show is beginning to come to a close again. Alas these are some of the best weeks though. I've been giving them double the amount of water(witch is just pure R/O) so they should be nice and flushed by the time I harvest. The last outdoor family shot was the last quality family shot. They are all starting to lean and bend in their ways so they look a bit unruly hehe. It's a good thing though. Means they have some chunk going on. Here's whats been going on with the feeding.

Feeding(9/21/10)
R/O water

Feeding(9/22/10)
molasses water

Feeding(9/23/10)
molasses water

Feeding(9/24/10)
R/O water

Feeding(9/25/10)
30ml Pura Vida bloom
16.6 Pura Vida grow
PH 6.0
PPM=1100(2.2EC)

Feeding(9/26/10)
R/O water

Feeding(9/27/10)
R/O water

Feeding(9/28/10)
R/O water

Feeding(9/29/10)
R/O water

Feeding(9/30/10)
R/O water

Feeding(10/1/10)
R/O water

You may question why that 2.2EC feeding is in the middle. I just felt like they needed a slight boost at the time to make it through for the next couple weeks. You may question why the plants have caution tape around them haha. Well I opted to help take care of my sisters small dogs for about 2 weeks and I don't want them going anywhere near the ladies, so created a caution tape fence and it is doing a fine job of keeping them away.

Here are some shots for you.

Hey justiceman, just finished reading your whole journal and am loving it. Thanks for the work you put it man, i cant tell you how educational and inspiring it is for me. Those badboys look like theyre about to snap. Whats your guess on the yield? Looks like a couple pounds at least.

Simply amazing work justiceman! I hope those fat colas have enough support... :thinking

Thanks Abe! I appreciate that you read through the whole damn journal. That's what it's here for and It's great to know that it helped to further your knowledge as well as inspire you. Haha I really hope no more branches snap. I'm hoping to get at least an elbow, but It would be really cool to get two.

Thanks Shady! I also hope they have enough support haha. I've put a bunch of support strings up and such, but it's about all I can do at this point. I am quite nervous indeed.

daaaam! them girls chunkin up somethin serious bro!
Hell ya man! I wonder how much i am gonna get off these ladies.

Flower Tent Update
So It's about week 4 of flower. Things are going alright, except for one problem at the moment. My branches really need some support. I should have thought about this from my last grow but I forgot and now I am suffering the consequences. As you will see in the picture the front plants are basically leaning down into the middle of the canopy. To be honest I am quite unhappy with this development. I aim to never let this happen again. I'm still going to finish them off since they only have about 6 weeks to go and should still produce some good nug regardless of aesthetics. Here is what I have been feeding them as of late.

Feeding(9/30/10)
250ppm cal mag
3.85ml PBP bloom(half strength)
5ml Silica Blast
15ml ancient amber
8ml Bud Candy
1ml roots excelurator
10ml hygrozyme
15ml Huvega
15ml HP
PH 5.9
PPM=600(about 1.2EC)

Feeding(10/5/10)
250ppm cal mag
15ml PBP bloom(soil/coco)less N
5ml Silica Blast
8ml Bud candy
15ml Trinity
1ml Humic Acid 18
PH 5.9
PPM 850(Diluted from 950)(1.7EC)

Here's a picture of the mess.
http://i1014.invalid.com/albums/af261/fatyfatkins/IMG_1695.jpg

So I have a plan for the next tent run that will take away the possibility of leaning plants and nugs from now on It will also help me with watering. I am going to put a trellis in the tent and it will act as a support structure for the buds. A Scrog if you will. The problem with a trellis is I won't be able to hand water the plants anymore because I won't be able to move a couple out of the tent. Well this will be easily solved as I am also going to set up a drip system for the next run. That way i will have not have leaning nugs and I will be able to water my plants with ease. Sound like a good plan?

Outdoor Flower Update
So the outdoor is going great though and harvest is right around the corner. They are leaning pretty hard but I have support strings set up in various places so that should hopefully hold most of the nugs up until harvest. Unfortunately a few broke off of the head band on Monday so they are a little premature(9 weeks) but still good. At least I'll have some different smoke before the big harvest. The ladies are finally starting to get a nice fade going. Here is what I have been feeding them as of late.

Feeding(10/2/10)
R/O water

Feeding(10/3/10)
R/O water

Feeding(10/4/10)
R/O water

Feeding(10/5/10)
R/O water

Feeding(10/6/10)
R/O water

Bro, that is definitely going to take your tent to another level. Is it going to become part of the setup or more like you pull it out when you are ready to use it? The screen. You could probably use some stakes to hold up those leaning buds so that they don't fall into the canopy cuz 3 weeks from now you're going to be like SHIT! lol

Ya dude I can't wait to set up a system. It's going to be integrated into the setup. I won't be pulling it out that way I can put up the screen so the plants won't move until harvest. I'm going to try and see If I can get one and install it during this grow, but If not I may have to try stakes or something.

If i remember correctly, you only had to feed your plants once with the super soil which sounds as though it was very successful. How well do you think it would work indoors with smaller pots/plants?
