It's very likely that if I can get the drivers figured out, I'll have a closet with dual-layer flowering and a dual-layer veg area sharing a ventilation system. Might even end up with more plants than before, just more efficiently!
Glad you got everything sorted! Welcome back. Hope 2021 is kinder to us all.
Hey k , I'll check in with you tomorrow.......Thanks man! I literally just now saw this for some reason.
I've been listening to this essentially nonstop since I first heard it. It's fascinatingly written jazzy progressive post- black metal.
Feel like this would be of interest to @Dirtbag and @Milson , maybe @bellumromanum too.
I love the recap at the end. I'm really hoping i can have something similar for 2021!Col'Jam, in all of her full sativa glory. Likely going to chop it in the next couple weeks. Colombian Gold x Jamaican Lambsbread, by USC seeds.

And Nepalma, scraggly dead leaves and all. I've had a hard time keeping the humidity where she's happy and she went WAY too long without light, but her buds are fattening up.

G13 Hashplant, G13 Haze, and Sky Cuddler are the other 3 plants. Also germing some peppers before they get moved to their final home in the old milk jugs.

And here's veg! A couple more female G13 Hashplants, another G13 Haze, two more Sky Cuddlers, Maui Waui, Sour Sorbet, and front and center is a cut from that original C99 x Durban-Thai plant. Also got a female Pipatxu (Deep Chunk x Maizal Gord), the only one out of 5 seeds.

And I finally, finally made a space for the males that'll work.

Easy enough to say it's storage with mood lighting, but there's enough room in here for 4-5 males to do their thing. It's a pain to take picture of, but I just hung those old LED bulbs from a socket splitter and ran an extension cord through a channel I drilled out of the side of the bottom box. There's a computer fan in there for circulation, but it's almost a sealed environment. I plan on venting it from the bottom if the humidity in there gets too high, but it's right in VPD green right now with the best Pipatxu male in there under 24 hours of light until it starts looking ready-ish.
I also wanted to recap 2020. I came into it with the goal of finding some great PKO phenos and preserving their genes, as well as generally having effective strains around for me to breed with. Last year, in addition to working PKO, I made:
G13 Hazeplant (G13 Haze x G13 Hashplant) - my main project this year
C99 Durban Thai x Killer Queen
C99DT x G13HP
Col'Jam x Killer Queen
Col'Jam x G13 HP
Col'Jam x Silverfields
Nepalma (Panama Red x Nepal indica) x G13 HP
Nepalma x Killer Queen
Nepalma x Orient Express
Nepalma x Herijuana
(Lambsbread x AK49) x G13 HP
(LBxAK) x Killer Queen
Black Afghani x Uzi
Black Afghani x PKO
Uzi F2
I've also got a bunch of C99 Durban Thai, G13 Haze, and Lemon OG Kush random seeds if anyone's interested. They're crossed with some of the above pollen, but came off branches that I didn't intentionally pollinate so I can't be sure what's what.
Everything i have received from Todd has been super high quality. Perfect looking seeds that pop with good vigor.Shiiit, with those Original Hazes you're working with I'm sure you will! That's on my list to drop for this year, logistics permitting, but I want to be far more dialed in before I give them a shot.
Yeah, their veg conditions were farrrrrrr from ideal but at this position but i am being reasonably nice. I don't really think of this as breeding though. Just doing some chucking and learning about selection so I can then select somewhat intelligently if and when I do try to improve within a strain, stabilize, or do some other Actual Breeding (According to Milson) Activity. It's funny, we have the exact opposite approach for males. I essentially actively try to kill them during veg and use the ones that survive for breeding unless they're super special in some way.
Yeah i hear you. I just think of breeding as selecting within a population to improve etc and crossing as crossing. It's an arbitrary distinction on my part that is clean in my head and feels worth making.I mean, the line between breeding and pollen chucking is pretty subjective. There are a few places in the world where real breeding (genetics and lab testing) is being done, but the data on cannabis is still so far behind other plants that most of us are just fumbling around in the dark anyway.
I feel like I'm not a breeder, just a dude that selectively makes seeds. I'm certainly doing more than hitting a lot of elite cuts with pollen from the same male. But my plant counts are too low to hunt for real outliers, so the search for standout phenos is also difficult, and I have no way of testing genetically so all of the data is tactile.
You got a ton of good work done! Haven't chucked anything yet, but looking forward to it. Haven't started any Nepalma yet, but how much humidity do you find that it likes?Col'Jam, in all of her full sativa glory. Likely going to chop it in the next couple weeks. So I generally try not to complain about my personal stuff on here, but some of you out there know that I use cannabis to treat a stomach condition. What exactly it is is still undiagnosed, but for the most part I can't eat without it, and haven't been able to for years. Essentially the same thing when it comes to sleep.
It's gotten worse recently. I've barely been able to eat, I've lost 10 lbs since new year, and now I'm just straight fainting sometimes when I stand up. Went to the ER after passing out twice and they had no idea what's wrong. Living with physical and mental illnesses that both are essentially omnipresent is exhausting.
But the alternative is death, so my stubborn ass is gonna keep going.
That's it. That's the post. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
