You'll want at least 30 watts per square foot (Minimum light requirement in a 5 x 5 would be 750 watts during flower). My four quantum boards comes out to 960 watts or 38.40 watts per ft square. All my boards have dimmers. I've been happy with the results.I like the light spread using my 4 boards.

However, I'm running this light in my other 5 x 5: https://www.horizenhydroponics.com/grower-s-choice-roi-e720-led Due to the bar light design I get very similar results with it while using less energy.
The specs on there says it only covers 4x4 in flower so it does the job a 5x5 alone? Never used bar light, I used the 2 SF-2000 last run through flower with 6 plants with ok results but only used the 5x5 in the last couple weeks bumped up from a 3x4 so the plants were not quite as wide.

I only have 1 grow under my belt using that light. I'm mid flower right now on my second grow. I do have 3 red/blue 4' burple tube lights zipped tied to my e720 so it's actually pulling about 840 watts from the wall ... and yes, it's done well for me so far.

Picture taken last night: 3 Blimburn Seeds Granddaddy Purple on the left and 2 Delicious Seeds Caramelo Early Version under the net on the right. 16 days in flower when the picture was taken.

I think I might opt for a HLG 600 Rspec, seems a steal for the price I should get the job done I think.
That's a good choice. It would it would fill a 4 x 4 in flower. There is also this one: https://www.horizenhydroponics.com/hlg-650r-diablo . It will fill a 5 x 5 in flower. It's not a budget priced light and if you're on a budget it might not be a fit for you. If that's your case, then purchase the 600 Rspec and save your self the cash. Either would be a good purchase.

You might want to look at the HLG Scorpion RSpec, I've been running it for about 6 months and the thing has great coverage, runs cooler (same wattage across 6 288's vs 4) and can be placed closer to the canopy. I've always ran MH/HPS and fought heat, so it's amazing to me to be able to run a light with this kind of output and heat not be a factor, I can't say about the 600 RSpec but I can put my hand on the driver of my Scorpion RSpec at any time, it hasn't been hot to the touch yet.

I've been teetering on the HLG 650R I just wish the price would come down a bit, its a little above my range & seems to be the same price it was a first issued, being that the HLG Scorpion Diablo is out now I would think it should. I have upwards of 20 grand of dental work coming & this is just a hobby so...

Here too, have you looked at their refurbished lamps? 600 RSpec for $599 and could probably get a discount code online or if you call a salesperson. In my limited experience they are good people to deal with.

Yeah, a little the $100 savings didn't seem worth the loss of 2 years off the warranty & gamble that it doesn't blow out, didn't look for codes.

I'm assuming the R Spec are ok to veg though it is primarily designed for flower? 🤔

Yes, I ran my one and only crop of autos under it for my experiment with those things, they seemed to like it fine, I haven't vegged any photos under it yet, still using a TSW2000 in a 3x3 for that.
HLG claims 5x5 flower/6x6 veg. and adds: "Expect higher intensity and more even coverage in a grow tent, reflective area or a cross over with multiple lamps." I can't argue with those claims as I have mine hanging at 18-20" above canopy in a 4x4 and if I crank it above 75-80% or so I get the canoeing on upper leaves pretty bad.

I have seen the inventronics drivers in use on many lights that are far more expensive high end lights.

I dont have intimate knowledge to the differences but I would check out the guarantee. Is it 5 years like meanwell and effect is similar then...

The HLG Scorpion R is 3 year, I had heard that there is a earlier version that used meanwell that was deemed as lessor but I wasn't sure why still waiting for a reply on this from Growlight Heaven before I pull the trigger.
