I am considering the same change @PipeCarver. If I do, I will likely switch from Promix to Coco/Perlite mix with layer if clay pebbles on the bottom with the air dome. Im looking at the 4 pot XL system.

I am thinking you can transplant without clay balls or coco coir.
I don't see a problem with it. I usually grow them till they out grow their 1 gal. pots then transfere to the AP's.
So transfereing them should not be a problem and I would have to read up if the balls are needed or are they just for the airation pump an air domes?
Make sure the root blocking paper is in the bottom of the pot and brass side facing up, but they might have the form fitting covers that you put on the outside of the pot which I like better.
I think the Coco Coir helps but not sure it's totally necessary.
It looks like they don't come with the socks or the air domes.....you'd recommend both I guess? The socks are only $5 and the dome kits $10. = $75...+ clay balls and coco + $75....

I don't have much promix left after yesterdays transplants so I need media anyways for my next grow....I've enough Pmix to get plants started and I'll need some perlite...fk another $50........It started out as a $139 + tax day....that hit $200 and I now see another $150 just in parts.....lol......Its easier to break it to my wife in small bits. I sold her this idea at $139 and tax.....ooops shipping...and tax.......parts....perlite....$350......oooops.....coco coir......

Mine came with the socks I am pretty sure yours will.
I brought the dome kits and use them. If you buy clay balls you don't need but a couple of inches in each pot so you
don't need much. Not sure if you really need them tho.

That is my first one I brought (XL) but they cost more.

Done, I just ordered $200 delivered....Who Knows when but I'm going to use some of my new seeds for this next grow...
4 root control disks and 4 matrix disks I think the matrix ones are the socks? I used both on my latest grow, one inside an one outside the pot

Not sure if I will continue on this tread or start a new one.
Probably keep on keepin' on this one tho.
I am in the process of wiping down the tent and stuff inside.
Pain............
But my germination skills are right on and I am ready to start very soon.
Besides getting the tent and items clean I have to figure out how I am going to hang the light.
If I can, I might use side lights too.
I better get going it ain't going to clean itself :)

Thanks for that, I placed another order for the socks and domes....I like the idea of the domes, Moe Red is working on something to add more O2 to the root system like these domes do so there must be something positive to it. I saw a video yesterday said up to 130% increase in growth and yield using them. So wtf? I might as well try them

After I made my order I tried to add socks and domes but they made a new invoice and added another shipping charge...fk that...I sent an email and I'm hoping to here back...$34 shipping ...well okay...but X 2....no way

I looked at those marix disks and they are not the socks...they are a replaceable fiber filter pad that is supposed to be tossed after each grow...around $1 -2 each

Darn I got inside and outside root blockers with my order not sure why you are not getting that but did not get any matrix disks.
Here's more info about the substrate:

I cancelled the order, FK they pissed me off. I called them about 2 shipping charges and they said just cancel and re-order. I did....so the doubled the charges any ways...$70+ 15% tax I called again they said they have no control its an automated system....sorry pay or see ya later.....I said okay bye bye cancelled.....I've a bad attitude towards being gouged. $139 turned into $303 plus clay Balls and perlite.....add pump and air stones ( i have them just bitching) and justifying my bad attituded

I don't blame ya, that chit sux. Bad customer service won't get them far.
Did you order from Autopot.com?
I got mine here but it's usa not sure they ship there.

Ah got the tent cleaned out and set up the light also found out I can use my 2.2 gal pots
in my 3.9 gal. bases so I can spread them apart and move em around better.
I tried some harder to germ seeds and only 2 germ'ed so far.
So I find using the same ol tried and true process it got me 6 of 8.
I'll give them a couple more days.

Ya thanks I was tipped off to a place up here that has no shipping charges over $99 and they have a few options to chose from but as luck would have it they're out of the one I'd ordered and a few others.

I'm still not out just delayed a bit...I like the looks of 15L single pots If I can start with one or 2 or lol...I'll see what I can afford. with balls perlite socks, domes media...I'm thinking an add on system won't hurt so bad and keep the upfront cost a bit lower...

Most places i have read on air domes in autopots say not much difference and stopped using them. Same with clay pebbles neither hold water or wick it.

Okay? the video's I've seen use the balls on the bottom and protect the dome with Cheese cloth to stop roots growing into the domes. & even filled the domes with the balls. I thought the air / O2 into the root zone was supossed to increase growth and yield by up to 130%....sure advertising bravado but there's something to it.....or is it all gimmick?

Would an inch to inch and a half perilite in bottom of pot be the same as clay pebbles? The thing is with clay pebbles is they can be washed and reused. Ya i read someplace about the increased growth and yield maybe can be done if everything is dialed in but i never read on any forums of growers achieving close to that with autopots.

I think the perlite is too light and about the same price so its one or the other.....This whole deal went sideways when I tried to add the domes and socks to the order. I can get the socks & equipment at a better price off the site you recommended "Indoor Farmer".....AND.....wtf is the difference between the Dome and Nets? one cost $10.00..the other $0.65 add an Air stone and wallah....Air nets....

yes you probally could make the airdome from a net pot just purchase air line and stone. You would want to tie stone half way up in the net pot to keep off bottom of planter. RED GREEN does it again.😂

I would of had my order being shipped today had it not been for my revolt on shipping charges & now I don't need them anyways. I've watched a few videos this am on the air domes and one guy used an air stone. I have a few with lines and pumps & also a few manifolds & valves to control the flow with, I can try it with...one plant to start.....We're out today @ a Costco run into the city and its snowing today it'll be a slower trip in & back,,,its usually an hour 1 way....I've a brand new set of Tiger Paws I'm eager to try out......wife not so much about 2 - 3 " down so far.......a sledding we go...

Yes seen how much the air domes cost when I started 7 AP.s and only had 4 air domes so I did that, ordered some air stones and 2" baskets, but they got here too late so didn't use the baskets just stuck the air stones in the pots. They all seemed to grow at the same rate.

Setting up for my next run I tried using cheese cloth over the domes to test it out and it don't work, the bubbles go around the cloth not threw it.
I just did what the manufacturer said and it worked perfect for me. I cover the domes with clay balls up to about an inch before the top.
Ya, roots will get in there but does not affect the bubbles.
Tip:
If you get the domes, check the air foams for bubbles if not bubbly enough poke with a needle to get better results.
