Hey farmers and farmettes!
I did an LED grow under a 300w apollo and I couldn't believe how dank she was! The LED was borrowed, I have a 135 ufo but I know they won't grow very much or cover a very large area. I have a couple questions since I'm pretty new to LED and brand new to Tents. I'm not a noob to growing by any means. Here's what I got:

I want to stay cheap with this first led around $100, same with the tent. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I have to stretch out what I have to spend as much as possible. I'm planning on buying both from amazon. I was going to start with a single 300w led and a 2x2 tent. Maybe a 2x4, in which case I would adjust lighting to suit the larger size.

• would a 300w led cover a 2x2 sufficiently? If not
•What size tent would be a good match with a 300w led? Or maybe what size led for a 2x2?
• for LED, anyone have experience with Viparspectra, Mars Hydro, Roleadro, galaxy hydro
• for tents, any experience with Milliard, apollo, Ipower, Ipyramid, Vivosun, or yaheetech?
• I also think I may drop a 125w CFL or a mini 150w sunburst in the tent for added spectrum or power. But I wonder if the hps might raise the temp too much. Maybe adding some LED rope light or a couple fluoro's to the walls?
•another LED option I was looking at was retrofitting some fluorescent T8's, like these, (1800 lumens per tube) anyone with experience with these?

I know it's alot at once, any help would be appreciated, I'm getting a little overwhelmed between this and some health issues with my Mom.

just use 25w per sq foot as your target and you should be fine.so if you get a 3 x 3 tent you would have 9 sq ft to cover,a good light would have 200 to 250 actual watts.mars panels blow, most cheap led panels are good for a year and then start burning out diodes.mine lasted about 14 months of 12/12 before i noticed some strings of leds did not light up anymore lol.
never used any of those tents,i have a gorilla tent that is very high quality and strong as fuck.also use a growlabs tent for small breeding projects that has been good for about 4 years now.

I use secret jardin tents and I'm very happy with them.

As far as a 2x2 tent I can answer your questions.

I run a 400w hps in mine with 2 supplemental led bulbs. It gets warm but not ridiculous 84-87°

I personally would rather use a 2ft 12 bulb HO T5 over a led if was trying to start cheap. I got a 2ft 12 bulb HO T5 for my 2'x2'x1' chamber.

Puts out 24k initial lumens and is rated at 288 watts. 0 after shipping. Each bulb is rated for initial 2000 lumens.

It was cheap to buy and different spectrum bulbs can be mixed together.

It fits perfectly in my 2x2 and almost matches the footprint of the tent interior (22"×22") T5 dimensions L23.5 x W18.5 x H3.

So light distribution is even and emitted from multiple bulbs in different spots in the fixture. Rather than from 1 bulb like an hps/mh.
The light intensity along the length of the T5 bulb is very consistant.

I also use an 8 bulb HO T5 in my micro tent 2'x1.5'×2' with good results.

That's a good idea, I haven't seen many 12 bulb fixtures. I was actually looking at a Secret Jardin lodge L120. Its got a separate spot for Moms/vegging and flower

I love LED, at the very least for veg they are fantastic. Some say LED buds taste different from the traditional HPS grown or whatever, I couldn't tell the difference personally but my electric bill sure did!

good morning. i bought a mars tent.. its good quality, metal corners, light proof. heavy duty zipper. does not smell funny etc. for under a 100.00 hard to say no.. especially with the money saved you can put into the light.. even if you have to replace the tent in a few years which i do not see happening.. but time will tell. with the money saved on the tent. i went with a pro grow 180 LED light.. only have to buy once. ( im told i need two for my tent size 2x4x5'.. but i will use 1 for now and just go with 3 of 4 plants to st art as i learn. )
cheaper in the long wrong.. for me i felt the money was spelyt on the luight not the tent.. just me, and im on a major budget still collecting stuff. good luck in your grow.
chris.

Good luck with those lights. I had Mars and they do grow bud just ok but like @sixstring siad will fail on you mine was at 15 months and I had a bunch of them 2-1600 Mars II, 2 1200 , 3 300w and 1 900 they all failed except 1 300 which isn't being used that's why it hasn't failed lol. I make my own lights and so can you. A 200w CXB3590 setup would run you about $350 to make a 200w fixture and you won't regret it

I think this would be perfect for what your looking for
Thats not a bad deal at all, I actually ordered an apollo 36"x20" and a 250w cfl that will be here today. I cant decide whether I need two tents, or just one tent to seperate the veg from bud withing the grow room. the hard part is I dont know where we'll be moving to in march, so I dont know the layout of the house

Anyone heard anything about the Roleadro 400w COB? I read a couple decent reviews but not really seeing anybody that has used it for a length of time

seen a few threads on guys using the parts to make better lights but nothing worth mention on the actual roleadro lights.
