Greetings Fellow Oregon Farmers! A couple of dumb questions from this newbie. I have searched the threads looking to get an idea of what current prices are paid by dispensaries to a grower in our Green Beaver state. I don't know any OMMP growers personally to ask. Out here in NE Oregon most of the counties have currently banned all types of recreational business. I just recently retired and am looking to move and start a small mom and pop grow somewhere in state, preferably by our beautiful coast. Need something to keep this doughboy occupied and doing something to help offset my Obamacare premiums!

But yes, I am one of "those" newbies seeking info!

As far as trying to figure out a cost effective business plan, I need to get some kind of ballpark figures in mind for average to top shelf dank. If anyone can kindly shoot me some price info I would greatly appreciate it!

Also, I am of the opinion that with licenses starting to be viable next summer, approx. 4 months later I anticipate a glut of weed coming into the market. How about you?

Lastly, Is there any grower co-ops or collectives being formed in any of our coastal communities? Something where people can get together for support, and experience collective buying (gear, equipment etc.) & growing. I see Tillamook has one listed on FB, but it did not appear to be too active as of yet, which is understandable.

Thanks in advance, and I am prepared to be flamed! :)

Peace and Good Growing Vibes!

The Oregon coast is a very prime area to grow indoor imho. It is temperate all of the time, therefore needing little energy to maintain an ideal climate. Go inland by 15-35 mi and you'll get a 20 degree difference one way or another depending on the season.
The only worry working by the beach is power loss due to high winds. This is gravy if you're seasoned Oregonian. :)

@Mudskipper Thanks for your input! I have read in a few other places about outdoor weed being scoffed at by dispensaries. Why is that?

They are running a business. o/d just doesn't sell well and goes army quite quickly. Too much of a risk for most store owners.

Help this cannabis reborn 70's hippie understand some of these new phrases like "army" and why is it a risk for dispensaries? Really has my curiosity up, especially in this liberal, organic and natural state? Been outtadaloop since I got married with two insta-kids (whom I LOVE Dearly) I really am clueless. Why is outdoors looked at like schwag? Anybody??? Thanks in advance!!

OK, I actually believe I understand "army" as being underground, but still so very curious about the rest.

Thanks!!

It doesn't go to crap, but it turns(army) quicker. o/d picks up lots of other pollens blowing around in the wind, which doesn't help its smell down the line.
Army is a local reference to the smell of most bagged up product that has sat for too long. (old fatigues)

Still, I wonder... Wouldn't some dispensaries want it for a price point? Once again, in our all natural liberal state, I would think people would jump on it. Oh well, times are a'changin. Very surprised at this info!!

Peace and Good Vibes to All!!!!!!

OK... No more comment?? I guess I introduced a dead thread here...

Peace and good vibes to ALL Growers!!!!

@Derf Werfler , 2 - 3 dollars a gram wholesale was the last price I heard for wholesale to dispensaries. Market flood, cut throat pricing and you lose. If you were fortunate to get the $3 a gram price you might break even, or make a little profit.

Thanks @indicabush Very little experience here with a rec dispensary. A couple trips to Washington and an Oregon coast adventure in Oct let me obtain some different varieties. In Oregon I saw prices from $8 to $16 for a gram. So the dispensary is paying $3 and selling it for $16? Woof!! Sounds like the crab and fish market! The fishermen don't get diddly compared to the final retail price at the market! Damn!!

Money in hand and no taxes on Meds or the pass recreation sales; they aren't broke.

It's a business. The more triple A it is...the less you're gonna be turned down. They have money as i-bushmon says, and they will pay for the digs on the spot if they want it bad enough. The last time my buddy went into an all indoor boutique shop, he requested an extra 200 cuz he deserved it, and they happily forked it over while asking for more.

2200-2500 in the larger cities-but it must be ridiculously beautiful. Some will not even look at o/d, and I don't blame em.
You're right! I do indo and out....this year I had strains hit 26%thc with terpenes off the chart....not a single dispensary in my area wants lab tested, organic, high grade fire! My outdoor is higher in cannabinoids and terpenes than most of my local dispensaries indo! Frustrating as hell!!!!

@PermaGryn ^^ Were you lucky enough to find buyers elsewhere or are you still stuck?? Did the indoor sell OK?
