Hello all,
Total newbie here. Sorry for such a long post.
I’m growing Blackberry Kush indoors using 2 Aerogarden farms 24xl. What a huge learning process. You all have my total respect. Anyways the plants look great. Already flipped them to flowering stage and the 6 plants all have flowers/buds on them. 3 months in so far.
My ultimate goal is just to make edible gummies for wife and me. Here’s what I plan to do next so if there is anything wrong or suggestions from here out on what I think is right please please let me know. So after trichromes are the right color I will cut and dry the buds (wet trim first) upside down for about a week. Then I will break up the buds and grind them to decarboxylate. Spread out on a baking sheet lined with parchment or tin foil. Bake at around 210 degrees for around 20 to 40 minutes checking not to burn but until light brown. Now here’s where I want to be real sure. I want to make cannabis infused coconut oil. So one says to take 35 grams or about 3/4 teaspoon of the decarb weed per 1 cup of oil and simmer for almost 3 hours stirring occasionally. Another guy said 1 cup of decarb cannabis for 1 cup of oil. That seems outrageous but I want to be sure. So what is it??
So my end game is to have 5mg thc per gummy. I have 4 molds that make 100 gummies at 4ml per gummy. The recipe I found is .5 cup cannabis infused oil, .5 cup water, 3oz flavor gelatin, 2tbsp unflavored gelatin, and .5 teaspoon of sunflower lecithin.
So here’s what I copied and will paste as follows:
If you're looking for a rough estimate of how strong the gummies will be, consider how strong the weed oil you used is. If you used 3.5 grams of cannabis that has 20% THC, then each teaspoon of oil will contain about
14 mg of thc.
Doing some quick math, considering that this recipe calls for ½ cup of coconut oil, that's 24 teaspoons of oil, and 24 teaspoons with 14mg each equals a total of 336mg THC for the whole batch of gummies.
Considering that the recipe calls for 20 small-to-medium gummy bears, that's 16.8mg of THC in each one. If you want them to be closer to 5mg each, find Smaller molds and make 40 or more gummies.
So I want to use this recipe but want to make sure my potency is correct. They say the Blackberry Kush has a high thc level of 20%.
I’m thinking pouring this batch into my gummy molds will make about 75 4ml gummies. Will each gummy be around 5% thc?
So most importantly is how much ground up decarbbed cannabis should I use per cup of coconut oil? 3/4 teaspoon or 2 teaspoons or a whole cup??
I am sooooooo confused and don’t want to waste all this time and effort and money only to blow it by making a weak batch or way too potent batch of gummies. Any suggestions or advice would be so much appreciated. Thank u so much ahead of time for reading all this.
