you only need to worry about the ph going in@hermit186 about coco ph and lock out I'm currently having some redness in my stems. I've been PH my water @6.0 through booom. Would I have better results with ph of 5.8 the entire cycle? This way to eliminate this ph raising beyond that 6.3 mark. Or is this more crucial in only a 60/40 mix?
should i switch the light cycle to 18/6 now? also about the vpd what do you suggest i set my Rh at i saw the charts there really high with my temps it suggest about 65-to 70 rh@Tempy
keep doing what you are doing now
coco dosnt need any additional Ca
your nutrients are coco specific so it contains all elements in correct % in order to grow in coco properly
also you dont need to worry about ph because your nutrients always end around 5.7-5.9 "ph perfect"
a slightly higher RH is good for growing relative to temps look up VPD Chart
if you have the ability to manipulate RH then VPD is worth looking into
if not
try as hard as you can to keep large RH swings from happening
as for pests
good housekeeping is a must
keep area extremely clean
keep doors shut as much as possible
Air Circulation is a must
a few oscilating fans are a good option
look up IPM (integrated pest management)
as for light....16/8 is probably bare minimum for keeping them in veg
18/6 is a better option
24 is not a good option unless you are cloning or rooting clones
in those two scenarios your plants arent using there circadian rythm....they are putting all energy into rooting
once rooted 18/6 is the best option for rapid growth
as for coco
water with nutrients every day
never let coco dry
and because of the nutrients you are using
you dont need to worry about ph
just keep your ppm's in check
stick to a ppm that your plant are having good growth in and keep those ppm's constant
no ups or downs
if problems are to arise there are those here to help you
Manipulate RHCan you also please elaborate on what you mean by manipulate RH ?
yeah that isnt good at allI have a dehumidifier that is set at 50 witch keeps it around at 50 to 55 and puts off alot of heat
so when the ac kicks in at 78f it lowers the Rh down with it around 38rh
Brother sometimes i feel were fighting a losing battle when it come to teaching ppl coco... Im glad i found you first before i went thru what i see so many go thru here.... :(you only need to worry about the ph going in
as long as you are within 5.8-6.2 you are perfectly fine
alot of times people in coco experience problems because of watering practices
1. Always ph after adding nutrients
2. Never feed coco with plain water
3. Always maintain a nutrient solution ph of 5.8-6.2
4. Feed your coco every day
when growing in coco we are not feeding our plants we are feeding our coco and in turn the coco feeds the plants
your red stems could be from any number of things
ph/N def/Mg def/P def/K overdose/underwatered etc.
or it could be genetics
tempy good job brother,, for being a decent guy to others offering advice, and then being smart enough to know which one to really listen too Wisher been handing down advice since adam and eve!I do have a fan in there that's on 24/7
