That's a federal thing I think. I don't think you can have a med card and a license to carry anywhere in the country ... at least not legally.I don't have an Oregon medical card. I would like to grow more plants but you can't be medical here and keep your carry and conceal permit.
I'm pretty sure you're right. I just know when I looked into getting a medical card here they told me I'd have to give up my permit. Now, I'm not a gun nut and in the 20+ years I have carried a weapon I've only ever needed it once, but I did need it. I'll stick to my four plants and be somewhat content. It seems like a ridiculous piece of legislation though. If I did have a large scale grow going I think it would just be further justification towards needing the means to protect it.That's a federal thing I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the OP wanted to know if he could obtain a med card and continue to legally hold a concealed carry gun permit. To my knowledge, there is nowhere in the USA that allows this because of federal law.I carry a Colorado medical card. Here if you have a med card, you are allowed to carry an "open container" of your meds with you, on you and in your car when you travel. (no, you are not allowed to drive intoxicated!) Without the med card, an open container is only allowed in the privacy of your home. Technicly, as I understand it, when you make a purchase at a dispensary, med or rec, the budtender should staple closed the paper bag with you purchase making it a closed container. Without a card, if you pop that staple before you get home, you have an open container in your car, should you get pulled over on your way home. With a med card you can pop that staple inside your car and inspect your purchase without the threat of having open container issues with the local LE, should you be pulled over for anything. I just see it as a bit of insurance against having any problem with LE anytime I have my medicine with me outside my home.
There is a thing called states rights. Here in Oklahoma you can get your conceal and carry permit with acceptance in other states. And we also have constitutional carry. The state has passed laws to protect medical card holders 2A rights within the state. Now go to another state that honors your Okie conceal and carry card is no problem. But the weed could be a big problem. No problem for me to open or conceal carry my pistol and weed. That's a federal thing I think. OK, here is the 1st post from the OP in this thread,Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the OP wanted to know if he could obtain a med card and continue to legally hold a concealed carry gun permit. To my knowledge, there is nowhere in the USA that allows this because of federal law.
The law in Michigan says all open containers of THC products must either be locked in a locked container or stored in the trunk in Michigan if you're driving.
The question of purchasing or carrying one came into question with this post:Who here uses a medical card? What do you find beneficial or not beneficial about them?
Don't know the exact way to express this but from a federal level, if you want to buy a firearm or in some states carry a firearm concealed, I'd forgo getting a medical card. Personally what the government doesn't know won't hurt them as long as whatever you do is only to yourself and not harmful to others. If firearms aren't your thing than I'd go for it if there would be benefits where you live. In some states it might be none issue, while others I've heard it's an issue, it primarily depends how close the state laws follow federal laws.
Either way, I'm one to ask the physician about benefits of weed first and it they think its good for a condition I have I'd use it but not get the card. Government shouldn't make a plant illegal nor tax something that you could grow yourself.
Until made federally legal having a pot card and gun permit is a federal offence technically .
Yes you can, they tell you that you can’t but there’s no way for them to check unless you tell a cop.I don't have an Oregon medical card. I would like to grow more plants but you can't be medical here and keep your carry and conceal permit.
I agree with this. I got a digital ID medical card with CannaPass a few months ago and it has been a big help for me.It's so interesting to hear about different states and countries. I feel like we are falling behind in the UK. Over here our NHS is generally amazing however, we only have 3 medical cannabis prescriptions available and they're not particularly great or a rarity to obtain one. That's why people here sometimes use medical cards like CannaPass to confirm their condition instead. However it doesn't prevent you from getting arrested but it can help more police recognise that you have condition and hopefully improves education. That's a shame you don't have digital versions though - what state are you from?
Here in Florida if you request your med card you must surrender your permit, bullshit! Let’s go rec 2024 !Yes you can, they tell you that you can’t but there’s no way for them to check unless you tell a cop.
The state does not check with the county you live in to monitor your CCL.
I'm in Oregon and the dispensary weed sucks. Harsh is an understatement. Lots and lots of choices but just harsh weed. I have found that organic grown weed is better in the dispensaries. And also weed under 20% THC. It seems like anything over 20% is harsh. I don't think any of the corporate weed guys cure the bud. Just dry it and sell it.street weed/rec weed seems better lately anyways. if you got a good street plug youre probably better off. Dude I'm trying flower after flower from these PA dispos. It's all so harsh. hermied. speed cured. vacuum packed. all calyx and no trikes. harsh HARSH weed. The strain guys at these big grow ops dont have the slightest fucking clue. Probably ILGM gorilla glue im smokin on.
I'm trying haze after haze and that salty zappy haze flavor is not in any of them. None of these medical hazes are even hazes at all.
It's pretty much the same here in Michigan. We have all the top shelf strains, but it's rare that it lives up to its billings. I'm 100% self sufficient now when it comes to flower, and mine is much better than what is sold by the corporate weed guys.I'm in Oregon and the dispensary weed sucks. Harsh is an understatement.
