Yeah and the controller and power cords are seperate. The light will cost me about 1850 plus tax and thats without the power cord or controller. I'm gonna say 2500ish taxes in total. I'm confident with a 5yr warranty and increased yoelds especially due to the ability for much better light spread with my low ceilings will pay for itself in spades.

I suspect it will also. Plus, I think your making a move that's not going to change for awhile into the future. It's sick what he did with that light, I mean that grow was almost indentical (or better) than what I had with 2 double ended HPS in my 6x6 a year or two ago.

There has been a better led grow light every 6 months for years. You think they are done improving?

Yeah i have and they look great also. But if I'm going to take a risk on spending this kinda money I want it to be a proven one. By no means am I saying its not as good just that I dont know and LPs are buying these up left right and center. I have yet to see a single grower complain about these specific lights and thw warranty speaks for itself. So it would take a lot to change my mind. And coat is not a factor because they pay for themselves. Sure initially it will hurt but I feel almost 100% confident for my particular situation its the right move.

I try to justify it.. My entire shed cost $5k, that's including building the shed, all the wiring, and all the grow equipment. It's a huge leap for me to spend that much or more on lights just to replace the HPS. I'd be looking at about $4800 to go with HLG in my room, never mind gavitas.

I do think Gavitas sees this as a mature technology that they don't intend to continuously update. Or at least beyond its initial growth spurt. We will see how right they are. It will depend if primo lights can stay far enough ahead of Viparspectra, Spider farmer, Kingbrite, Mars, etc. If not, I think they settle into a more commodified zone.

I am curious about the design on the new Kind light. Looks intelligent.

Incorrect there have been a lot of claims but little to no proof. The numbers ppl are pulling with these are undeniable. A few local growers are pulling well over 3 pounds a light.

No, I don't think there done improving, certainly not, but it's getting dialed in very well, and the only things that are going to probably improve at this point are configurations. I haven't looked into the roadmaps for the diodes, but these new gens are pretty damn efficient, and it will probably be a bit until something surpasses their efficiency, I've been doing LED's for almost 10 years now.

TBH, I'm surprised that the 2w are so efficiect, but it's pretty simple when you think of it. It just boils down to spreading them out more. Maybe one day they'll come out with some 1.75's or 2.5's that are perhaps a little more so, but I think it's reaching it's optimum.

There's ton's of research and studies being done on multiple levels behind this crap for a good amount of time. You can only make a light "so efficient", it's not like there going to come out with ones that have much more efficiency, (it's very incremental) and their most certainly reaching a peak.

As for samsungs numbers, some of it's a bunch of rubbish, because this has been an industry that's overstated things from the beginning. There always "streching" the truth a bit.

I agree LED is starting to settle in. Many new studies are dialing in spectrum ratios and we are getting close to ideal in terms of LED.

I also think I will be over paying by alot and in a couple years the overall quality and price margins between other will shrink. But I'm ok with that because I will make up for that in yield and quality and then some as opposed to waiting for them to be reasonable.

I say this only speaking about my environment and grow room design. By no means am I suggesting it will make such an impact for anyone else.

Look at what you pay per kwh and count savings there, figure out what extra yield is worth, knock off like 25% for wiggle room, and see if your break even number of harvests/higher yields would be worth the decrease in liquidity.

Right?

Just my opinion but we have different height limitations and honestly I think you can get away with bang for buck much better with HLG. Again only my opinion

Also the likely increased humidity to deal with due to increased photosynthesis and heating or cooling costs or savings.

I agree with this analysis except for your timeline before stabilization, about which I am totally blank/have no opinion.

Regardless, you want to really push a grow this winter iirc so that lines up to me.

I think from memory the lumatek has better specs than the Gravita.
