I guess monster cropping is the weed term for harvesting the buds and leaving the lower growth on the plant and reveg the whole thing into a new plant.

Been doing stuff like that for 20 years monster cropping as a term is new. A new name for an old thing... a very poor name for it IMO. But good to know what people mean when they say it.

I'm confused, is monster cropping just taking a cutting from a flowering plant?
Cause that's not a very descriptive name. Is it just a funny name someone made up for taking a cutting from a flowering plant?

Forgive me, I'm getting old. These silly new terms for old things are confusing.

Yea theres two forms of monster cropping, monster cropping clones, which is like you said taking a clone from a flowering plant, then theres the other form of monster cropping that originated from the Emerald triangle/Mendocino area of California where you take a flowering plant, harvest only the bud off it, leave the fan leaves and everything else on it then re-veg it then reflower it again which is kind of what @MIMedGrower was talking about

Indoors monster cropping isnt the greatest, they supposedly say you can yield up to 20% more... But ive never seen it!

But outdoors its an absolute beast! Anyone that grows outdoors and indoors should be doing that shit!

You have to time the season and grows just right, but i use to grow a harvest indoors and get 5-6ft plants indoors, take all the bud off them (you cant do a true flush on them cause you want the fan leaves to be in good health). After I harvested only the bud off the plants i would put them outside around mid April early May, and they would grow into MONSTERS!!! (Hence "Monster" cropping)

These things would be 12-18ft (18ft was the tallest one i ever grew but then i started topping them)

And they would be around 10-15ft around like a massive ass bush!

I use to get 5-8lbs per plant off those fuckers!

The only reason i dont do it anymore is because when my son was born i moved to the city to be closer to him, but in the city you cant have plants that big!

Those were literally the good old days!

That was 6-8 years ago too when lbs were 2500-3000

The plants do branch out wildly in veg. Guess thats why its called that.

But its in the 92 edition of the ed rosenthal book and he didnt coin the expression that im aware of. So it isnt too new.

Now I know why the farmers and growers out in the woods do this. I have seen these “monster” plants out here.

Once but i didnt like the results. Wild bushy loose budded plant that yielded about half of the first grow. Never tried it again. The clones for me seem to grow into a normal clone of the mom.

That's what I normally do. Reveg enough to clone it. Much easier to deal with new plant.

Thanks for the info but none of it is new to me. Only the silly name is new. I first cropped a plant and reveged it like 18 to 20 years ago. I don't think is was invented where you think it was.

I had a book from the 60s on growing when I was young. It was in that book.
There seems to be a lot of people trying to claim old procedures as new ones. Just rename it an pretend they came up with it I guess...

Oh well.

Probably, everything has been done at some point in history, we are just redoing it!

I meant the term "monster cropping" came from mendocino county in Cali, and the people around the emerald triangle, only because there you can grow year round, the plants never die or stop, they just veg/flower/veg/flower over and over... They have like 20 year old cannabis trees over there that still keep producing every year like a fuckin apple tree!

That would be great!

But yea im sure the method of cropping like that is old as hell, but the terminology is fairly new, i would say within the last 20 years cause theres books and articles ive read on monster cropping that are from the early 2000's

Yeah, must be within the last 20 or so years. I have to re learn all this new lingo

So if monster cropping is reveging, what is super cropping? Another one I've heard in passing, but don't know what it refers to.

Super cropping makes no sense as a name but it just means pinch the stem and bend the branch down.

I wish he was joking... Cause it seems and looks like a joke!

But supposedly its a real thing based on a community thread!

At least thats the same thing i think hes talking about.

Stripped all the leaves off my plants

Today was day 21 of flower of the strain ICED OUT and I defoliated all the leaves off the plants. I have so many questions since this is the first time Ive ever done it like this. Normally I just trim some off. Will this actually produce more yield? Is there any tricks I should do to produce...

Alright, here is my current smallest clone, Gelato. Shes 6 days old and JUST starting to show signs of roots.

Shes in a 2oz mini solo cup, I use them for sampling water and calibrating my pens. It's about half full or a little less of promix hpcc. No drain holes so the water doesnt fuck off in hours.
