Stacking multiple lower wattage lights never has equaled single larger lights in the penetration dept, so even if they are twice as efficient it's just not going to matter. Those would be more suited to SOG's or VSOG's maybe if the claims are true at all. Just because that 300w is twice as available to the plant doesn't mean it travels the same distance at the same intensity. It can't.

I would love to find an alternative too, but that's just not it, not for this style grow anyway.

I love to see people experiment, but I'd hate to see you waste your money on something that even at best wouldn't be suitable to this.

2.5 plants are down and the rest should be coming down today. I pulled all the huge kolas down first, then went to work on the bodies.........................................................

well first thing i learned is.........clean up your plants, and fuck casey for buckets. sooooooooooooooo much larf and little tiny bud, but a ton of huge kolas, I kinda blame myself for not pulling more fan leaves and letting the light in. i will def clean the insides of the plants, the lower bud sites as well. 50/50 kolas to larf, but it should produce an epic amount of hash. a gpw isnt a problem, but about 40% isnt going to be worth shit. i could be trippin because ive been at it for two days now, and nothing has even begun to dry yet. all in all i will manage the canopy better next round. Im actually going to yank the 6 casey plants that are two weeks in and replace them with master, at least with kush the tiny buds are smokable

So true about the kush larf being smokeable (I know someone that prefers the small tight kush nugs than the huge ones). The thing with Kush is that the larf isn't really all that larfy. I had 2-3 larfy buds in my 98 bubba from my last grow, 18 oz on that one plant and 2 larfy buds (they grew out of the tree trunk, lol..)

all done. i think i over reacted. have a ton of bud, a frickin ton. i have about 80 kolas, but again a ton of larf and a ton of quality medium buds. you figure the center of the plant is 3ft from the light, so it just doesnt get any light. i will def gut the inside of future plants. i wonder why the fan leaves didnt give the buds all the energy from the solar panels hahaha just kidding dont want to start that up, but seriously they blocked the shit outta the inside of the plant costing me a lot of product. the roots are huge ill post some pics tomrrow. i will never again run a sativa in this system

good learning experience, pretty insane for the first run, well over a gpw

I'll have to get your input on all of my "Solar Panels" on my big girl. I have never seen so many fans. I'll probablly leave my fans on untill week 5 1/2 or 6. I do believe they provide energy, but also agree to some degree they block light and thats not good either.

What week would you have trimmed the fans?

I read an article a while back that gave a whole host of scientific reasons that its ok to pluck at wk 3, I wish I could find it, its pretty much what started my leaf plucking. theres plent of fan leaves that arent getting any light that will step in once you take off the shade leaves. I have plucked since my second harvest, and I used to get 1.5lbs oer light off bubba, without a single popcorn bud in the batch. and the quality was all like tops. and my kolas where as big as bubba can get, about 6grams haah but shit thats big for bubba. Direct light does more than a million huge light blocking fan leaves Imho. And I think ive finally been able to prove it to myself. my 6 plant room will get stripped down and hopefully i will be able to show people the difference in effect.

I just think sativa's produce great but at a certain point the plant gets to wide to have light penatrate, my center plant was 6ft wide, so you figure the light is roughly 3.5ft from the center buds. plus sativas produce a ton of little budsite and dont end up doing anything. 5ft tall by 4ft wide is what im shooting for now

That´s a shame about the Casey in the mpb buckets. I have been watching this thread and searching out a source for a Casey cut for when the time comes to run some buckets myself.

I guess I´ll just read the mpb strain selection thread and learn from others´experience.

if your fan leaf is bigger then your hand, its to big and u should remove it if your in flower. you will be very surprised by the dramatic increase in total harvest weight if you cut off your large fan leaves and strip your plants down before flowering them. light penetration indoors is absolutely crucial for big harvests with as little larf as possible.

how much did those colas average out at dry weight? bet those were some horse cocks.

haha they are, alot of oz kolas floating around, they prolly have another 5 days to dry. I think the reason i skipped on the leaf plucking is because there wasnt any where to stand to pluck them haha. all in all it was a massive harvest i just learned a few lessons

Don't blame the Casey you just need the time and notes to dial her in.
I find if I take 2 fan leaves in the same area and bend them back out of the way then hook them together using the 2 smallest leaflets you will get better light penetration and food for your plants rather then pluck them. Stripping leaves from a tree is not that good as it needs more then a normal plant. I have gotten over 3.5' of growth in 8 days. would not happen with less leaf. I see were TK trims his leaf and it made me wonder, but he is just getting into trees he is still growing bushy hedges. A fast growing plant will strip a leaf quick,you can see this if you use a refractor or cardy ph meter. The first week of flower I strip the first 10" of a branch. This gives me a 20" killzone in the center of a plant.Allows for a lot more air movement. Something to consider if you want to be a tree herder.
I love the difference in harvesting. One day its a prime bud great for a gift.5 days later that same bud gets tossed in the hash bin. Suerte JK

yea i flipped them much smaller this time, i think i over grew the room and it didnt help. still crushed a gpw so i cant complain really. I already spend much more time training this round. Im used that pyrasan20 yesterday and am draining today and putting in some 30inch master that i will veg until the roots hit the buckets.

nope, the roots were fine thou, i took some pics. They were brown at the end but werent mushy. I belive they naturally turn brown and also floralicous plus is some dark shit
