Well there is abuse of the permits and the meds and I am so tired of 18 yr old kids w/ no damn documentation or legit patients selling their meds I am sorry but it needs better oversight by the docs and us the caregivers and sorry my post before sounds snotty I do not mean it a bad way trying to say please do get involved but be careful about how much you disclose I know you fellas and ladies work hard and strive for the best ethics possible so in closing I say we are artists of the botanical discipline not criminals and potheads we are the ill and the ones helping the ill as well have good new year and be safe w/ much respect. Hey guys, so I have some options for us to consider in this event. I figure that for the first one it should be more of a meet and greet, contest of course, but maybe a little easy on the entertainment side of things. However, that said we could use my friends warehouse outside of Bozeman if we want a big event.
I do have a few options for a smaller event, we could do it at my dispensary, the only problem is that we really cannot smoke that much on site and we might have to split up the samples, go home test them out and then vote either on this site or via email. Or we could have the event at my friends dispensary in four corners, we can medicate on site but it would have to be sunday. Let me know what you guys think and we can get this hammered out in a couple, 2 at most, days! Hope everybody had a safe new year, I just woke up from mine!

Changing public opinion will be challenging at best, I know one thing that would help is if people would stop advertising with the marijuana leaf. I say this because it conjures up images not associated with mmj to the average joe, I think it more or less blurs the mmj movement with a full legalization movement, no doubt I am for both but I do think they should not be bundled into the same argument, at least not for right now. The other biggest obstacle has been Lee enterprises, they own most the major papers throughout the state and have been abandoning all journalistic ethics in order to paint this movement in the most negative light possible. I am not sure how to change that other than a large number of letters to the editors.

ALRIGHT BOYS WE GOT OUR ACT TOGETHER HERE. I was lucky enough to speak to another member on this site, kootenainatural, and thanks to him we got a location in place that should suit this event perfectly. It is outside of Missoula, private property, we will be able to smoke, listen to music, and most importantly get to know one another and allow for one hell of a competition. I have my best product curing right now, I am getting very pumped.

There has been one major change though, we have decided to do it on the last saturday in January, Jan 29. This will allow one more week for everyone to get ready, as of now I have 15 confirmed guests from the area and at least 5 from bozeman. I will be contacting some of the other dispensary owners today, to let them know and see if they will join us. Please let me know if any of your friends/patients/caregivers are planning on entering.
If you have not pm'd me yet to rsvp, please do. The plan is to meet at my dispensary on Saturday morning, I will take a photo copy of your mmj cards and then also take the entrys there. I will then give you a map to the location and the time to meet, from there people can grab there medicine at the place and we can display jars of the entries at the cup location. I am going to provide for food and drinks, I am sure there will be medibles abound.

Keep in mind this is the first one, first Montana cup ever so as much as we try to do this perfectly, I strongly expect that there will be some shortcomings, just do to the nature of an event. So if we can keep all criticism positive, we can make sure what this one does not have the next one will.

Would you guys like me to post all of the strains that are going to be entered so far, or should we just keep it a secret until the judging?

Hate to be a party popper, but I don't think an event like this is a good idea, nor do I think it will lend any credibility to the MMJ movement. Seems like if you have the energy to organize a completely unnecessary event, you should refocus that energy on making sure things continue to move in the right direction by getting involved with groups that are striving to protect the rights of medical patients, and drug users in general.

IMO, a Montana Cup will just be used as cannon fodder for the folks who say there is nothing medical about this movement.

Anyhow, have fun to those who attend. I'm too damn busy with the garden anyhow.

I am sorry you don't think that this event is good for public opinion, but that is not nor has it ever been the intention of the event. I would understand your argument if this was an advertised event open to the public, but its not. Yes it would be nice to do "something" to help the legislation, but in case you are not aware voting day was nov. 2nd, now we are in the position of having to allow those who we elected to govern to govern. This event will not allow any media, newspapers or news other than cannabis now magazine. To be honest, I highly doubt joe public will ever know this event ever happened.

Now to further the mmj cause, we are talking about a gathering of some of the biggest caregivers in the states, all together we have quite the access to the majority of patients in the state and we will be able to at least talk and give ideas about what is left for us to do, and maybe where we can put some collective energy.

Also how do you know what groups I am or am not involved with? I have been trying everything I can to save this mmj movement, but at some point there also must be celebration. That is what I think of this event, a celebration of a mutually loved plant, and a once in a lifetime chance to be able to network and talk about the product that we love.

This is ours. The people who are involved with this believe in growing the best cannabis in Montana, and are willing to put their product to the test.

I am not a follower, and don't join groups. From what I have read of these groups that have "our best interests in mind", I am not in total agreement. NORML? They believe if we tax the shit out of MMJ and give it to the state to misspend, then the state will leave us alone. Bullshit! That makes as much sense as giving a stray dog some food and expecting it to go away after a snack.

Isn't patients and families rallying for a Cannabis Union? Eff that!

This is a legal event, with a good intention. We don't have to be scared. Did you know that pharmaceutical companies hold extravagant dinner events to celebrate the chemical poison they create? Why should we hang our heads in shame? Because we (who care about providing the best meds.) want to be acknowledged? Because we want the word about Montana Growers to be positive?

Back to the topic, I have been lucky enough to view some of the entries early, and wow! This shit is looking epic, I am anxious for this to go down. Do you guys think that it would be beneficial to have some sort of agenda? Maybe have an hour discussion set about the future of this movement and we may or may not be able to do. I also plan on providing some sort of food, I am thinking pizza just due to the cost of feeding 50 people, any ideas out there for food? Should we make a potluck out of it?
