I like the cup method but I've done em all with sucess. I can vouch for a touch of h2o2. Its a nice safeguard against any fungus or other nasties that may be present. I think the cup is nice for Jipp since he has super low humidity. I'm very new so please correct me if I'm wrong but you can't drown your taps in the first week? The shot glass has been the only 100% for me so far.

Not saying you can't grow a plant from a germed seed with a taproot that's sat in water for a week, I'll just say I wouldn't do it.

From my understanding a taproot forms from the radicle of a seed. Forming the primary rootsytem in the beginning. It will branch off into secondary roots, which eventually form tertiary roots. That taproot is looking for water for growth. If it isn't "drowned" in excess water over a long period of time I bet it's severely stunted. If I were to use a cup..I'd only soak until I saw the "tail" of the taproot, then plant it. Taproot UP of course! So many people plant taproot down, takes longer and uses more energy that way. ;)

No doubt, I wasn't recommending leaving it in there a week.. Please don't lol. I do 24-36 hours in the cup with h2o2 and then in to medium. I do root down, but to each their own. I'm also a greenhorn newb so take my advice with a grain of salt lol

Its all good bro. If it's working for you no need to change anything. If your taproot is short I recommend planting it up, if it's past a 1/4" in length down will have to do. Believe it or not, when a tap root emerges it instinctively grows up and then down, as the tap root extends downward the "seed" is lifted upwards. Either or will, and DO work. I just prefer my seedling to spend it's precious energy mimicking life out in nature, instead of correcting me planting it upside down lol.

I have seen that info before, most of the time my taps are a little longer so I go down. I try not to really even look at them until 24-36h has passed. Less chance of me messing with em lol

naw, nothing dude and i did not let it dry out etc.. was a real bitch.. im thinking maybe its temmps.. people see 80.. buty dude 80 here is like 70 else where so i dunno.. actually instead of tossing them i through them 4 seeds into a cup and 3 floated.. so who knows.

Jipp this is taken from my last post. So they were in water for about 12 hrs and split. At this point its been a couple hrs in paper towels. Come again tonight or tomorrow morning it will be long enough to sow in soil/ Jiffy cube/ or whatever.

so 24 hours into the glass cup method.. the first picture is the critical kush, and the second one are the nor easter x Chemdog 91 not expecting anything from these.

i figure id see white by now.

I would plant all of those now about 1/4in. deep in some moist soil, don't kill it with water about a shot glass per solo cup. if your humidity is low you might want to cover with plastic wrap.

will do now.. glad you mention only a shot glass of water.

chris.

Try and keep the soil warm 70 or so they don't need light until they clear the soil. spray and mist don't soak the soil,it leads to i believe what they call damping off.

71 grams dry, 136grams wet with 50ml water,

seems like not enough water.. but i figure 50ml is close to a shot glass.
unfortunately there are only four seeds planted.. i drop one, and of course when i came up i could not remember which cup i had put the last seed in. hah.. was simpler to get a new cup that fight with it, ill let them pop up and tell me which ones have seeds.

chris.

this is soil/perlite.. 50ml seems like so litte. but i guess at this stage they ahve everything they need inside there shell, moisture too. so tomorrow ill weigh them and see if i need to add another shot of water.. i do not want them to dry out.
