Hi farmers!

I finally got the parts and money saved up to start my legal medical grow. The setup is as follows:

Veg

2x55w 2ft PL-L Bulbs 6500k
Homemade 2x2 PVC tent

Flowering

DR80 4x4 Tent
400w SunSystem I HPS AirCooled Hood & remote ballast
S&P TD-150x 6" Inline Fan 290cfm
Phresh 4x8" Carbon Filter

I also have a 10,000 btu Portable A/C that cools everything off.

Ambient temps lately have been anywhere from 83-85 degrees and I can get the tent down to 77-80 without an issue. RH is around 43-46%

Strains

LA Confidential
Pre 98 Bubba Kush
Granddaddy Purple
OG Kush (Unknown pheno)
707 Headband
Afgoo

I'm running two 3 gallon soil buckets and 1 5 gallon DWC bucket. I have done organic soil grows in the past, and I just experienced with mini DWC setups, but this is my first time under a HID.

I'm having yellowing issues currently, but I hope to sort them out before I flip these babies to 12/12.

Any suggestions or constructive comments are appreciated!

Here is a pic of my clone tray - http://i977.invalid.com/albums/ae254/HustleTrees2010/DSC01635.jpg

These are easily two weeks old.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to root faster? It seems like they stay static and hardly pop roots, or if they do it takes 14-21 days. I usually get roots in up to 7 days with my old bubble cloner!

The RH is usually pretty high with the dome on there, could the pucks be TOO wet perhaps?

Could be that the clones are too cold? They are on a tile floor but i'm not sure on the temps.

Hi farmers,

Here are some new pics just prior to lights on, you can really see the color much better, are there any tricks to taking pics like these with the lights on?

Veg update..

Hi farmers,

I decided to feed my two large mothers today and while I still have a friends TDS meter, I figured I would record my findings and see what you thought regarding it.

I started with 6.0 pH - 60 ppm - portable A/C runoff water. I then added 5ml of CalMag which brought the total ppm to 580, then I added 5ml of Micro and it raised it to 880 ppm. It's a Hanna meter with a .5 conversion. The pH was 6.5-6.8 I gave each plant 1 gallon of this mixture. Is this too high for 3-4 month old mothers?

And here is an update of the flowering ladies...I put them in 12/12 on Sunday, waiting for the preflowers to show and let the countdown begin!

Nice start Hustle Trees! Good to see you on the Farm... A couple observations... Switch out that black poly with white panda plastic on the veg tent to get some better reflection for those fluoros. And IMO your pH is a bit high for soil, and the PPM measurement seems high for 5 ml/gal of CalMag, which is around 325 PPM at 0.5 conversion. And to answer your question about shots under the HPS... Your camera should have a custom white meter setting that will remove that yellow cast off... :whew

BTW, i'm looking forward to the Headband... :cool

Hi Shady,

Thanks for looking over this thread, I appreciate the advice most definitely!

I will grab some white panda film next time I'm at the shop for sure. I just whipped a quick cab together and I had a surplus of black plastic, but the white is a good idea.

What kind of pH do you suggest for soil? I was considering picking up some pH down as well, how much should I add to a gallon and how much does it usually drop pH wise?

I had some notes that I thought my phone saved, when I fed the flowering girls, with each ppm per nute, but it lost it :( I will double check next feeding to see what 5/ml of C-M is, what do you usually get ppm wise?

Thanks for all of the help!

Hi everyone,

Here's a quick update of my flowering ladies. It seems the RO water and being able to monitor PPM is helping I think!

I'd aim for 6.3 pH in soil... And you will more than likely need base to raise the pH as you raise the PPM's in your tea. As for CalMag, I start with RO at 10 PPM from my Hydrologic Stealth RO100, then add 5ml/gal of CalMag. The result is 225 PPM at 0.5 conversion on my Hanna 98129. :thinking

You rock Shady! I will keep better notes and share what I find. I'm thinking about picking up a RO100, I need one with a quickness!

Hi everyone,

Here is the latest round of update pics, I'd say we are entering week 2 of 12/12, they stretched quite a bit in the past two days. I fed them with the following mixture last night:

1 gallon RO = 30 ppm
+ 7.5/ml of Bloom = 420 ppm or 450 ppm total
+ 5/ml of KoolBloom Liquid = 140 ppm or 590 ppm total
+ 5/ml of CalMag = 180 ppm or 770 ppm total.

Total ppm = 770 @ .5 conversion

Here are the ladies as of this afternoon:

Hi farmers,

I cruised down to the LHS to price shop and check out some gear and ended up going home with this:

http://i977.invalid.com/albums/ae254/HustleTrees2010/DSC01797.jpg

I almost purchased a unit from purewaterclub, but the reviews from the reef aquarium guys had me worried (leaking from every which fitting), the other side of the coin was that I wanted it today! :sun

It was a bit pricier than buying online, but this LHS just opened up and I felt better supporting the local guy because he has been pretty helpful.

Anyone know of a 1/2" NPT to Garden Hose male fitting? I'll have to tackle it later this weekend. So excited to try this puppy out and get some 0 PPM water!

As for the plants, my batt on the camera died so no pic updates, but the girls are looking quite nice and starting to form bud sites, can't wait for harvest day!

Day 16 of 12/12

Hi everyone,

Finally got back to check on the ladies and take some pics, here are the updates. Got the RO system installed, took my 300+ ppm water down to around 25-30 ppm. Not bad!

I hit them kind of hard ( around 1350 ppm ) about 4 days ago, I prolly will drop down to around 1250 next feeding. This is what I used:

1 gallon of 30 ppm RO water, 5ml Micro, 10ml Cal-Mag, 5ml Bloom, 2.5ml Koolbloom Liquid

Since then I've been watching the tips for any burning, and I feel like they still want more N for some reason. What do you guys think?

Hey LRG so sorry for not checking your thread sooner. I was looking at the veggin plants on p.1 and man it looks like you got some legit cuts, esp the bubba and LA con. I hope ya saved cuts of them!!

And I noticed u had some bleachy tips but you got it all corrected now, and its looking great! That calmag is always a must during those transitional phases..and id agree ti hyou, id keep the N going for a while, I personally cut it out at liek wks 6 and 7. Then flush out. But with you, I think the plants may be suffering from that 1300+ppm u gave em, Id back down to about 1000-1050ppms total, half bloooms and others and a good 30% calmag...

And id agreee with shady the PH with me seems to be perfect at 6.3-6.42ph

p.s. I wouldnt go with tsp or ml on how much yiur dosing, that shits never accurate anyway, Id go strickly off of ppms, if yours is at 30, and you wanted a 1000, id go like 300ppms clamag, and the rest the bloom and a splash of kool bloom

Good luck homie they loook great!

Thanks for stopping by R. Face!! I most definitely have moms of the Bubba and Con...got you covered :)

Yeah I was really surprised how much CM they wanted. Especially now with the RO water. But I'm down with it!

I will start keeping track of my feedings in PPM and EC, I appreciate the tips RF! :pimp:
