My overly ambitious second grow

OK, so my last two lavender plants were harvested and cured. All in all (from start to finish, including both indoor harvests and one outdoor) I harvested way more than i expected and am working furiously to consume it all. My last two lavenders were smaller and less dense than i'd have liked, but I decided that I wasn't invested enough to do serious trimming during flower. Had too much outdoor to trim and use. Overdried the outdoor harvest, but not too bad. Learned a lesson there. (That being: bag/bin the whole thing when its ready, don't leave it hanging for several extra days during trim.)

This round will be (I think):
  • Gorilla Zkittlez auto (barneys farm) (2x outdoor, started inside to harvest september-ish))
  • Chemdog fem (whitelabel? NASC) (2x outdoor, started inside late march to harvest whenever the fridgid MT fall air will allow! Thoush supposedly this might be a faster strain? WhoTF knows.)
  • muchacha auto (nasc freebie) (2x indoor)
First autos, and in a new 2x4 BAS bed, shooting for living soil, no till, etc etc. New grow, new thread: many questions and questionable choices coming eventually! Thanks again any/everyone for chiming in and also for posting your own journeys!

Well, finally have some seed in some soil. Not sure how it will all go since I changed up from fabric pots to a 2x4 bed in my 2x4 tent.

So the soil in the bed is the BAS Coots mix, with some perlite, Canadian sphagnum peatand moss, and compost (glacier gold) mixed at about 30/30/30. I tried to add some extra perlite because i was worried about aeration, and i didn't do anything special with my bottom few inches in the bed. Been mixing in water slowly this week and turning.

I'm starting two Chemdog fem to veg for 3ish months indoors and move outdoor, and two muchacha autos for the 2x4 bed inside. (Plus some gzkittles autos a little later for outside as well, and some peppers and tomatoes to veg indoors too.)

For starting seeds i pulled some of the BAS Coots mix, and cut it with perlite and peat, at about 40/30/30. (I'm curious as to whether this mix sounds ok for seed starting!)

Moistened it and placed everything in cups, poked a 1/2" hole and dropped in some seeds. Sprayed to moisten topsoil. Will cover and spray as needed to keep moist until something sprouts!!

Sprouts! Four days after planting, the Chemdog fems sprouted, then a day or so later the Muchacha autos. (Also some Chery tomato starts have sprouted, waiting in peppers to poke aboveground.) The cover crop in the 2x4 bed is starting to sprout (60%clover from BAS), but only just.

Curiously, one of the Chemdog fems took forever to get her first true leaves, and now only has little nubbly ones. I doubt it will ever fully recover, though I've read a few posts here and there that say they can. I'll let her run, but wondering about other's experiences

Looking forward to the journey, enjoying the beginnings!!

Ok, I just found the tent liner that i forgot to put under my 2x4 grassroots fabric bed. Should i pull the bed and put the liner back in the tent?

Agreed with @Cirroji
Clean it first lol

Yea that was in the pile to clean after last round and got forgotten. Follow-up question: Best method to get the liner back in with a 2'x4" bed inside a 2'x4' tent, full of soil, with a cover crop growing? Scoop soil out and reseed cover crop? Try and manhandle it out without disturbing the soil? Ug it was just so much work getting all that in the tent to begin with.

I'm inclined to run a cycle or two without the liner and monitor for any leaking outside the tent. How much do these beds runoff? Where does this land on a scale from "bad-idea" to "catastrophic-mess"?

Thanks everyone for your input!

Edit: fwiw will be hand watering so no watering system malfunctions to worry about other than user error on my part. Which is certainly possible.
