@Okdogg yeah dude go for it!

in other news
i popped 25 of the 79 XMAS bud, they were a complete pain in the ass.. had them in paper towels for two days.. only 2 cracked open. i then took tweezers and gently cracked the husks and proceeded to soak them in water andkelpfor another day on a seedling heat mat, about 75% had tails coming out by about a 1/8 inch.. i then threw them back into paper towels doused with a h202 solution to try and generate more tailage..

nothing really happened after a day so i just put them into solo cups with pro mx BX..

i can only hope they pop up and now i now to take more extreme measures for this next 25.. really bummed out. hoping i get at least 5-10 out of 25 but who knows

If there actually from 79 it sounds about right, that's an old seed right there

good luck Shamus...the art of cracking old beans is just that...an art.. I just bought some superthrive for when I plan to crack some oldies.... you ever get in touch with ndn?

the initial seed run done with the 79' beans was done by a homie by the name of docd, these are a result of that and were just harvested about a month and a half ago.. so these being so finnicky doesnt make as much sense as it would in that case.. unless the fact theyre ancient and loss of vigor can pass thru fillial generations?

i wish these were old.. lol
then i would have an excuse.. these beans honestly just seem frail, like a 89 year old woman. the odd thing with these is the seeds that did crack the shells by themselves without the help of tweezers, they cracked from the top or bottom of the seed. like it literally broke thru the husk with the seam of the seed still in tact. like the movie alien when it pops out of dudes stomach. and then they would just sit there and do nothing

BUT>>>BUT BUT BUT

we have one XMAS BUD above ground! and that my friends is progress
i literally just did a small jig and ran over to the comp to spread the good news.. im very excited for these and the fact they werent doing so hot had me bummed out.. but even if its just 1 that i still better than none.. and i have another 25 seeds that i can anticipate being a pain in the ass. i will be getting super thrive as well

you ever get in touch with ndn?

no i still have to send him an email, a very nice farmer gave it to me when he saw this thread. thank you again btw kind farmer

do you have the back round on this strain ? why 79' ?

do you know the genetic break down ?

it's christmas bud / gainsville green / micanopie moonbeam .....

ndn posted and old and only article ever posted online on the subject, a small piece in the local paper about the legend.

sub worked moonbeam, very large yield. so the history is been set and some older heads should be able to see if those seeds fit the profile ...., but really not sure ndn even knows the breakdown past the basic info- in that article he posted .... the christmas bud was a general term for buds that showed up at christmas in florida ...

gainsville green also did the same, became more of a general term after awhile like og has become ....

maybe a mod can change your title ... ? sub crossed moonbeam with vic high blueberry gifted bog his blue moon rocks line ....

XMAS = christmas you goof...

thats like saying you corrected me with "are not" because i said "aren't"

also my family grew the pine bud since the 80's.. it was NL but im almost positive they grew enough of it for it to seriously get around. lost the cut in 06'. i havent told them about this project yet but its going to make them very happy if theyre still growing

farmerjoe 420, plese make sure you know what your talking about first ....

again, like og has become, or crippy, or kind bud. christmas bud is a general term ...., and if you dig down deep , its moon beam. the " article " posted by ndn is full of fluff and folklore not hard facts like subs work with the famous cut . ndn guys info came from this article that has been viewed by many on google ... !!

Jj

what truth???

you posted a paragraph by NDN saying some random shit.. we dont even know the context and that doesnt dismiss these beans as legitimate?

seriously where do you live so i can come punch you in the mouth
