Just had to go back out chucking wooly bugger
Twisted ankle on rocks fell hard
Takes lots of work here just to catch a fish
Will ice rest up and try again
I did not come here to bust my ass or ankles I do that at home lol

Was in town saw 3 Maori kids 22 or so walking in parking lot
One had take and bake pizza another a rugby ball
Asked them if they could help out a visitor with a tinny or to

We drove around to several places to get the 5

Our next door neighbor from taos is fishing and also is struggling
We went out late evening to a spot he saw fish rising
Fished opposite side of area he fiend previously
He walked up River and motioned me to join him
He found a side flow lots of fish rising to emergers as no fly seemed to be on surface
I Casted a Cacadia only about 25 feet max to trout sipping the surface
One fish was sipping every minute or so
Kelp casting over and over again till it sipped it and ran like hell
Wow what a tremendous battle
Lucky for me 3'xm8.5 lb leader and fish was well hooked deep inside jaw
Took off for the willows had to pull hard to keep him out of the willow roots bankside
Barry my 75 year old neighbor helped net it
The fish saw him with net and bolted

Would have been real right Landing that brute for sure
25 inches 3.5 lbs
Will freeze and feast at going away party Auckland
Caught another smaller one in fast water
On wooly buggar jumped several times and also fought like hell
Wow what a day

We are down on the South Island, just left Golden Bay, which is a major historic hippie and grower area. March is basically like our September, so the outdoor plants are starting to flower and stink, but nothing ready to harvest. Saw lots of helicopters flying around in rural farm areas. Locals say they are looking for big grow ops. Kinda fucked up that the local gov't doesn't have much of a budget for anything but can fly around helicopters at thousands of dollars an hour looking for ganja. Damn we are spoiled in med states.

Wife was ballsy enough to sneak in a couple of joints and some edibles. Turns out there is a law here in New Zealand that allows you to import medicines even if they are illegal here, so long as you acquired them legally and have paperwork to prove it. Next time I come down here, I'm solidly packing 2ozs and my CO med paperwork...

Trout heaven
Saw a few here and there
They soon should be coming up from Lake Taupo and will be many more
Seems were between runs mostly resident fish
Hired a buddy guide
He will take me to his spots give me 1st crack at holes not a guide a buddy
$175. 5 hours less than half for a guide
Will head out for couple hours where I caught fish return mid afternoon take wife to town then have evening tea with neighbors from Taos their son Ray has a terrible condition tubes everywhere lays all deformed but these wonderful people devote their lives to his care rather than institutionalize
He and I go fishing he is 75 looks 60

Got two small joints
Was standing in River shallow took a hit got all wobbly had to knell down passed out for a second. Lol
