Spent a good part of the morning here. What a nice thread. What a nice grow. Thank you very much for this.
Thanks Dagwood. We got to say the folks in this community (THC Farmer) are some of the kindest folks out there. We lurk on ICMAG, and Skunk, we used to be very involved with Greenpassion, and Grass City is well... Grass City. You folks ROCK! Thanks again, and be sure to check back in.

Update 10-21 1 of 1
So let's see... Bud flop is out of control, next year we definitely need the doubled high third teir of feild fencing. Grandaddy Purple came down this week, the Pinapple Expresses are about 1%, while the Blackberry Kush is at 3%. How do we get the %s. We SWAG it. Looks like oh 100 trichs in the scope view, how many are amber? There ya go.Do we actually count? Well yeah, in a round about way. Medicated counting. Dia has been bucking down the GDP and snipping down on the American Crippler. With our nights humid and our days arid, the nugs stay at a nice moisture level for quite a while, if they start getting to dry we cut out nearly all the branch material, bin the nugs, and label. A neighbor, that does quite a bit more than us, says keep the bins for nutes and soils, bag the buds... hmmm don't know about that. We would be afraid of the plastic smell leaching onto the nugs. Nights have been mid to high 20s while the days were mid to high 50s. Although the last couple of days have been in the low 70s still high 20s at night, so you guessed it, we've been burning fires since the night we started. The ladies took 20 gallons each twice this week... oh yeah bud swell.

Update 10/21 2 of 2

We finished grading the well pipe at least as far as the Big Greenhouse. Now we can shutoff the main line at the well, and drain it. The land slopes with the direction of flow so we don't actually go any deeper than a foot for most of the run. As such the depth is only about 6" by the East side of the greenhouse, we have a clay pit just 18" deep or so about 40 north of the mainline, which is where the drainage will go. It's about 10' from the side of the greenhouse so hopefully there won't be any saturation issues. We got a 10x10 hoop house up for a well house, meanwhile our Trojans took a crap and we lost water in the little greenhouse so we tapped in a gravity feed line, no psi or heat but hey it's water and the comfrey drinks it faster than anything else. Other than that we have been doing tons of studying on large scale compost and VC farms for a additional income for next spring.

DSC 0154 Small

It might be hard to tell but the bud flop is nuts, most of the centers have flopped to the sides, although if they hadn't some would be against the ceiling aagain. This is a view from the 8' level.

DSC 0156 Small

Here is the GDP in the dry shed, which is still in process of being cleaned up from the Summer's use as a storage facility.

DSC 0158 Small

Another shot of the Grandaddy.

DSC 0163 Small

And another. This was dried in like 4 days for some quick smoke.

DSC 0153 Small

Here is the hoop house for the well, basically a 2x4 box bottom, a 2x4 ridge and poles. 3 20' 1.25" sched. 40 PVC. Got a temp door up today. Next we are going to lay 300' of loose straw over the mainline and cover with a thin layer of earth. Hopefully the pipes wont freeze.

DSC 0103 Small

Ahh the tomatoes from last week...

DSC 0159 Small

as this week ripening is happening quite quickly.

DSC 0105 Small

Mother shot from last week (wasn't posted) They were transplanted TLO style about 1 week ago. Yeah we are some of those people, hey it works great, just look in the greenhouse. Cuts were dipped 5 times every 3 days in a neem, safer solution. They were basically starved to keep them as small as possible, now it's time, they are clean. We threw some heating pads under the ladies to increase the soil temps to high 60s low 70s. There is a T5 54W cfl on a mover that keeps them vegging.

DSC 0161 Small

Mothers this week greening up nicely. You can see the comfry in the bottom left corner there.

DSC 0162 Small

This is a compost tea brewer prototype from a guy called Microbeman. This one was made with what parts we had on hand, but we are going to be getting the rest of the parts when some funds come. Elaine Igrham had studied the results of different brewers and that study led us here. This type of (airlift pump) brewer offers above base oxygen levels for the life support of microlife and beasties, except nematodes, as they drown after 2 hours of submersion.

Nomad, I just want to say that is an awesome greenhouse full of ganja! I wish I could do something like that where I am, but I have to go stealth. The choppers would spot that in a flash.

You've got skill growing so many bushes in perfect health. Kudos mate.

Thanks ICultivate, it is definitely a slow progression, and has taken many years to get here. Non profit is for sure, we dump all funds back into the farm, we haven't had a legal running vehicle of our own for a couple of years now, backroad bandits, woo-hoo! Nor a vacation, we have jammed down to sacramento for xmas's and funerals but that is about it. As far as the the piggies go, well we have dealt with them almost every single year since 2007, different counties different piggies, one of the ones last year was a double sworn officer, sworn to uphold state and fed law. We've threatened them with harrassment, the county too, 3 times and no case is harrassment so... that usually keeps them at least moral.
We don't know where you live, but the saying goes "For those whom brave the outdoor grows." Thanks again ICulitivate, we got some new pics to post as well.

At the moment it sure feels that way, now if we can just get those trichs to mature (they take 2 weeks longer, at least in the tipy top of Nor Cal in a greenhouse). We have always believed that the reduction in light, even though it's 92% transparency always seems to give the shade grown effect, of lighter greens, softer plant tissues, and super tasty. Anyways if they would hurry up anyway maybe we could get a shot in entering the Cup too!

Interesting position by the pig... "double sworn?" upholds state and fed law? never heard of that shit..wow. I am not sure he can "lawfully" due that. He was elected and is paid for by the people of the state.

Did you dig into this deeper?

This is a really great thread Nomad, makes a man dream, that's for sure. Gorgeous plants, quality GH.

So where you grow is legal, but the cops still hassle you? How's that work? If they were feds, that would make some sense, but otherwise, I don't follow.

We first learned about this at Oaksterdam, and the officer that came to our place was part of a Marijuana Eradication Team. The same officer was seen on one of ganja documentaries clearin out a big crop in Humboldt. He took photos, inspected everything, gave us a business card. Double sworn officers have the obligation to uphold federal law over state, unlike state officers whom must uphold state over fed. Our county sheriff dept. gets approximately 90k annually from the feds. We didn't dig any deeper. We live in a area that has been changing and continues to do so, but 5 years ago 90% of the community burns, and they spend 100% of the time hiding it and prosecuting each other with it. We moved here from a community whom was dependent on their growers in off tourist time. So needless to say we were and are very open about what we do. We got involved in the schools, 4H, etc. it only made us targets. The community and the JUST-US system didn't appreciate it. Also we live in an unincorporated area of CA, so we are inundated with bored CHP whom here exercise their State Police rights quite frequently, if you cause problems, they bring the Federal Game Warden with them who is also a Federal Marshall, ya know where this is going... We've had dept of Health, CPS, CHP, and County Sheriffs all guests at our farm at one time or another. Even accused by CHP for stealing outside hose water from the one and only gas station in town on a Saturday, around noon. And originally the first visit was from the health inspector who violated us for no septic, no well, and camping on our land for over 28 consecutive calender days. So we started cycling GDF kids in and out every 28 days for about a year and a half . It drove the neighbors mad, but it was legal, and DHS said it was in full compliance of State and County codes. When we moved back home, it became quite again, our problems from the skunks are now mainly residual visits from known past encounters. Anyone with an X-ref # knows what we are saying. We always stay in low number ie less than 24 in flower at any time. That is why we go big instead. Honestly higher numbers of smaller girls is so much easier to care for than fewer bigger girls. For example It took just as long to water the 2 neighbors (138 3' girls in total) while they were down in the city, as it did 24 8' girls, plus plant care on the smaller girls is man.... so much easier.
Thanks f0r the compliments Monkeymun, we have many more plans for the future as both the farm and our grows develop. Quality over quantity has been and alway will be our moto. We toke like maddogs, and are always looking for the dankest genetics we can get our hands on. Thanks again for the props, it always helps us feel like we are on the right path.

Ah, sadly I'm on the other side of the planet and the cops aren't too friendly to us growers here. If you grow outdoors, it's stealth or is trouble. That's not to say you can't grow decent sized plants, but spreading them out means much more work and far less convenience. Being able to grow a crop rather than plants peppered over the landscape, now that would be something.
It's strange how you guys in the US can grow according to state law, yet still be busted with federal law. Doesn't really make sense to me much.
Anyway, keep up what you're doing, it's inspirational to say the least. :)

Thank you ICultivate, yeah one thing about this place is it's all face value unfortunately. As we imagine many places are. It's funny to me how we tolerate it. Agreed, our first 2 seasons here the plants were spread out in a way that we were able to irrigate with drippers but could not cover them to protect from the cold, we lost half our crop (SSH) the first year here. Hence the greenhouse, and things are looking good, except perhaps for all the bud flop. Hopefully next year we will have circulating fans going during the day (solar dependent) to help strengthen up the branches and a third tier of field fence cages about 7.5' in diameter, stacked 2 high to support the weight. We hate how the flop makes your final nugs favor one side of the branch and always exposing right there where the nug curves a bit. Oh well such is life. What part of the world are you in? If it's an inappropriate question just don't answer. Gotta go stoke the fires we are 17'F and 91% RH at the moment.... Have a great day.

UPDATE 10/29
Whew we are getting close, workers have started showing up. Of coarse this means running through the same old rigamarow. Isn't so nice how compensation for meds is way, way, way, lower than say 10 years ago, while the cost of workers has gone up, and then they only want to work the gravy. The machines look better every year. Fuck those machines too...lol... Spent most of the week prepping for crews, got some broke down cars moved and organized, the girls are taking about 16 gallons each every 4 days now instead of 20 gallons every 3 days. We've have been averaging mid 40's F and 20%RH during the day, and low 20's at 90% RH at night. Interior greenhouse temps are about 35 -40 F at night (we've only been running one furnace so far), and 65 - 80 F during the days. Although we are supposed to be in the teens at night next week, which means we will have to fire up the second furnace and keep it between 40-50F at night. Our boy has been chopping up the cord wood like mad. We have also been applying a 20" layer of loosely packed straw over 600' of water mainline, so far so good water at night and the mornings with no busted pipes. The 20" of loose straw is supposed to be equivilant to 4' of earth which is our frost line here. Drew up plans and gathered wood (need to refurbish some of the sticks) for a chicken coop for the winter time. Hmmm... fed the mom's 1 TBSP/gal of Maxicrop liquid fish 5-1-1. Snipping on the GDP which most the workers don't even want to burn cuz they get to fucked up to work. Good signs there aye. The trichs are getting closer of course but not yet there, especially on BBK, P-exp, maui, uk cheese, cheese quake and ogre. Well, back to snipping.
