I could never imagine growing on such a scale that harvest needs to be done around the clock.

So much tree and bud porn..!

Very impressive Nomads Landing.

Thank you Prince Blanc. Well brother, gotta say it's easier caring for like 100 or 150 girls that are 4x4x4, than our 18 ladies...lol, but we are legit, and under-run what our doctor recommended. He watches our grow on FB. The Harvest...lol...fuck man.....lol...We have issues with helpers, or workers, or trimmers, or what ever they want to be called. Most lacking a professional background, lacking drive, responsibility, assertiveness, thieves to an extent, and no care on how to properly process, ah, yes and finally entitlement come to mind. So, on that note, it takes 1-2 people 1/2 - 1 day to takedown a girl, perhaps 2 days, if you break her down to hangers, and another 2 days to defan. It also takes this long because we are dealing with workers, frozen water pipes, feeding the animals, getting gas from town, , dinner, neighbors, etc...lol. Now that the girls are down, we are still rotating on schedules for snipping, drying, and keeping fires for the moms. Another change this year, is we don't have enough glass, or folks snipping (ie. last year we trimmed to June or July), so when the stems are snapping we are bucking down the nugs into contractor bags, burping, curing, and snipping when we get to it, then into glass, which we'll rotate as the strains come and go.

Thanks GB, appreciate the props, already go new beans comin, for next year, problems and causes or possible causes being addressed, etc. Anyways here is a copy of the post

So here is a background thread on some beans that we will be running next year from a friend, thanks NM. We are going to see how they perform in our environment. We have somewhat edited the thread to 3rd person as best as possible, without loosing the context.

Used one male on a few really nice females. The male hails from a pre-dutch Skunk#1. This line has been grown outdoors its entire life, preserved fully via open pollination, all naturally, and there were never any selections made so the line is very diverse and hardy, containing many many traits leaning from the sativa side of things and the indica side.
During the breeding of Skunk#1, Mendocino Joe(Sacred Seeds founder), selected from thousands and thousands of varieties imported from Colombia, Thailand, Afghanistan, etc... The sativa side of the breed was selected from Acapulco and Colombian genetics. They were hybridized, then worked to a F3. From there they selected a Afghan to add to the mix. There was special attention payed to this selection to find a mold resistant mother plant. Thousands were selected before finding her. After that she was pollinated by a male (ACG X CG F3), then being backcrossed one time, the line was complete.1978.

The male that was chose represented more Indica than any of the others. He triggered very very early and finished early as well. Large flowers, lemon/lime skunk aroma, wide structure, roots very easily, highly resistant to cold temps, hot temps, mold, pests, etc. Ive kept him in my garden for the last year and a half testing him out in various conditions. So far he has earned a place in my garden and my outdoor garden especially due to his quick finishing trait.

The girls that were used him on are as follows..

White Ruskaya: Bred by Nebu back in the day. Its is the Aloha White Widow clone X Cherry AK47 IX. This lady is interesting to say the least. Yields huge, potency is way up there and can be harvested to be either indica dom or sativa dom high type. Roots easily, grows very well in high temps and cold. This plant is a greenhouse dream. Her huge colas can lean right up against greenhouse plastic or glass and there will never be even the slightest sign of mold. She is impervious to mold IME. The taste and smell is to die for to.. think strawberry pastry...

Cherry Hemmingway: Bred by Rev it is a combination of Cherry Bomb, Williams Wonder, a super rare land race Bhutan and one other thing that is slipping my mind but either way she's a head banger. Elite indica potency sums it up perfectly. She is so narcotic its insane. The Bhutan brings very special traits to the table here. She gets giant as well, yields are insanely huge for how potent the end result is. She has Cherry AK47 in her to and it comes through strong with a very sharp cherry cream aroma. Taste translates in the smoke.

Orange Goo: Bred by 4Dragons, she's a nice hybrid that performed well. Huge yields, super easy to grow. She handles moisture very very well, cold temps not so much but high temps are not problem. She just takes a bit longer to finish when it cold, on account of the Gooey mom in her being sativa dominant. This smoke is divine, the combo of Orange Goo and Skunk#1 will be even better than the Orange Goo mom if the lime/lemon male translates in the offspring.

Cantaloupe Skunk: Bred by Insane Seed Posse. She is made up of very rare selections hailing from the same Skunk#1 line my male came from. Info for Cantaloupe Skunk can be found on hemp depot under Inane Seed Posse. Pollinated Cantaloupe Skunk with the Skunk#1 male, making the offspring pure Skunk#1, all though they do not breed true for the original Skunk#1 traits released in 1978. Expect more of a lime/lemon twist on the cantaloupe/mango aroma and flavor, maybe even some unexpected stinkers. The line is diverse. Yields are huge with Cantaloupe Skunk and resistances are solid. Greenhouse is a must to get her to finish.

Master Kush x Uzbekistan hashplant F1: Bred by Bodhi, this plant is a straight up indica. Master Kush dom, grows short, good yields of high quality smoke. Smells and tastes like a Chemdog/OG/Bubba kush. Lots of earthy coffee coming through. She was gnarly narcotic like Cherry Hemmingway. It might not be best choice for mold resistance though. They didn't have a problem with mold, and she's been grown indoors and out. Maybe the addition of the Skunk#1 male will bring in some more favorable traits. Not that there were any unfavorable traits to mention. The offspring may even end up being more Skunk-like than the original Skunk#1's that grew out.

Thanks ICultivate, as you know it has surely been a ride. ps. so far we are averaging bout 5-6 ea. but that is just the avg, at the moment, still got a lot more to work through, so it could go up or down still. We have thought about polycarb panels, it's just really expensive, as an initial cost. One thing we have also been discussing is, we would like to precondition the intake air at night, then possibly send that night moisture back to the girls during the day. A thought is to run 2 layers of anti-condensing film seperated by the framing ( our moma house recently had a 85 degree difference in temp when compared to outside temps and not a drop.). We would like to be able to remove the roof film or panels on a daily basis for light and air. And finally at the moment anyways, we would like to be able to light dep the whole thing or sections, so we can cut down before Dec., grow longer flowering landrace sativas, and to flower during or closer to peak UV. lol, yeah buddy, the last girl (Sour tsunami) came down the day of, that night was the collapse. The film was old and we had to perform many folded seam repairs earlier in flower.

True, PC panels wouldn't be cheap, but their longevity and sturdiness would make them pay off over time. And pulling 5-6 off each plant surely means you have a little cash to burn?

Still, 3 years for that film is a good run and it's easy stuff to work with. How's the anti-condensing film work?

Hey Thoth, how's it goin? TY.
The greenhouse is 20'x96'x15'10". Before this year we ran 6, 5'x24' beds with 4 girls per bed on 6' centers makin 24 ladies. This year we ran 18 girls, each in their own 4'x4' bed, but on 9 1/2' centers. Over crowding was still an issue, and without the bud flop, we would've had to do a lot more LST, and supercropping to keep em off the roof. ;)

Much more massive than I thought!

We definitely have to figure something out. I got kind of overwhelmed with everything and forgot to shoot you a message until we were getting ready to enter the 215 area. Just doing that ended up being a bit of a clusterfuck because I'd stuck my husband's and my recommendations in my bra and then forgot, thinking that I'd handed them to my husband and we actually had an argument at the front of the line about it. Then the girl says, "What's that?" and points to my bra and FUCK! There they were. <facepalm> It was then, which was after I'd run into Blaze and another friend, that I remembered that I needed to shoot you a message. So I get onto where I've got your phone stashed and shoot you a message through that instead of copying and texting you.

I was trying to see and do as much as I could in as little time as possible because Dave was really feeling the race he'd run just that morning. Flustercluck, mang.

So cool, our first big review.
TheRev: Nice BBK... I am vaping it, so no worries, it was a tad moist but still totally could have rolled a very smokable doobie. Elegant smoke/vape amigo, love the floral coating it left on my tongue and the high is nice, floating in the clouds. Awesome.

Hey Hey Big Hempin, yeah brother, it has surely been a crazy, and wonderful year. Thanks for being there through all the ups and downs. Of course it still isn't over...lol... Hmmm let's see the strawberries... well we thinned em out too late in the season by picking the flowers and burying the runners, so they barely fruited, and then our water started to freeze up to bad to get any water to them, and finally just to make sure they'll be hardy if they survive(more like we just never got there), we have yet to cover up the plants, sooo.... we'll see....lol. The chickens are still getting bigger, cock fights are at a minimum as the pecking order has been well established. I imagine, once we get a plucker we will whack a few, Dia really dislikes the smell of the boiling chicken during the plucking process. As far as the roof goes... man so gnarly. what a trip, and the night after we took the last girls down... In fact I got to throw some temporary film over the temp dry area today in the greenhouse as it is supposed to snow tonight. But we really hope you stick around brother, next season is going to be even more insane. Thanks Big H, for sticking it out man, we truly appreciate it. On our end we hope to get more involved on the rest of the forum.

Thanks GB it has really paid off in more ways than finances... especially since the doughboy and his process crew keep flaking out... man...anyways. But we've met tons of great peeps on the net and off, and many are from the net. The Rev has asked to use our pics in his new and upcoming TLO outdoors grow guide. We have folks sending us outstanding genetics to test in our crazy environments, for some reason we have the uncanny knack of pushing the ladies in all directions of extremes, and still getting them to thrive, there is alot of arguing and disagreements about things, but as one person told us, they thought if we didn't argue so much over the grow, the buds probably wouldn't be as good....lol...may be some truth there...lol.unsure. And we feel we are getting closer to figuring out our niche. The bed and breakfast sounds great, we've taught more than a couple of handfuls how we grow so putting that into some kinda format would be cool, keep growing cannaisseur flowers, unite a network of ganj related folks with diverse processes and personalities to help add strength and cohesion to a lifestyle that previously demanded seclusion, strain preservation, and extreme environment testing (beyond the greenhouse). BTW, man the Pineapple Express is damn near dangerous....lol.

Thanks brother, extreme is for sure... and as we are here we need to shoot props out to a guy out there goes by Big Slugger, for it was his grow, that we based our ideas on for the greenhouse mods this year. On the "bio", nah brother, just our journaling pics from the year. Our original models this season for soil, was a version of Sub's Supersoil, the 3LBs, an old Sunset container gardening book, with an Nomads Landing/TLO twist. Then we layered, spiked, top down fed, all TLO. See what the Rev did for us was take what we were experimenting with for the past oh, 3 years, and gave us a known good, which when your bettin your crop on it, a known good is a nice place to be. Dia and I can really get into some gnarly arguments over our grow, and we have every year...lol. She says the Rev may have saved our marriage, not due to yields, but giving us a common ground to stand on.
I don't know if it's a bio-chemistry deal, but yeah brother the Express really nails Dia, like she's on the junk or something...lol....Alice & Chains Style.... :D

-- iCultivate --

Lol.. We here ya brother, but we can never budget it out till the end.... ie. workers are outrageously expensive, movers, talkers, clubs, they all take their toll, not to mention the promisers and the promised...lol. Also we need to get a septic in this year to keep the county off our back, and like a single wide too, we kick it and work in a winnibego, and sleep in a 7x7 rubbermaid shed attached to a double poly greenhouse for mom's, pre-season starts, and veggie starts. We also have still many more environmental issues in the greenhouse to deal with, ie. such temp fluctuations, the extreme cold and amount of power to run the heaters, condensation, high and dry summer temps, high RH at night during flower. That being said, we still have pondered perhaps adding the PC in sections as budgets allow. Thoughts are one more season in this greenhouse and then swap it for veggies, and start anew. The anti condensation poly films are impregnated with a vegatable diglyceride I think that causes the water droplets to run by decreasing the surface tension. In our moma house, we had a 70'F temp differential, and not a drop. Here's a link ... http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies/prod1;;pg109093_109094.html.
