Haven't heard anything definitive about the kind of music played, but I have read a lot on why it happens. The music produces waves which stimulate the stomata into opening up. Which in turns allows more photosynthesis to take place. So in my grow rooms I always put a little radio with a good bass into the room. Figure bass has to put out the most vibrations.

CO2 causes the stomata to open as well. so my question is, if you use CO2 supplementation, will music still affect the plants positively?

I have a small radio tuned to the local classical channel. Unfortunately it is also an NPR channel. My poor plants have to listen to Peruvian Flute music during the weekends. (no disrespect to Peruvian Flute players, just a nod to South Park) HA!

If you ever get a chance, read the book "The Secret Life of Plants".

It changed my perspective on plants and every living organism.

It is why I will always play music to my plants.

A lot of what was written in The Secret Life of Plants has been debunked, at least according to the author of What a Plant Knows, which I just finished last week. Not worth the $20, especially since I can't share it with another Kindle user. Shoulda been $10, then I would say it was worth it.
