Looks like 6.5 is where I need to be at for soil. So, I should be mixing up my nutz for 6.5 and then feed. Man, this soil stuff is driving me crazy. Can't wait to get back to Hydro.

I check it before, after, and all the time...one of the most critical factors in hydro, so don't get lazy...

pH is a huge factor in achieving total success, imo, as well.

"dont get lazy" isnt a term TK is using lightly either.

pHs can drift and swing so being on top of it constantly, really IS imperative to overall plant health.

I grow in Organic soil and have only been checking the ph before I add the nutes so I'll be more stringent in future, cheers folks.

Thanks again TK. I've been having some issues with soil. God knows, I need to get back to hydro, but your totally right. PH, is one of the major things you need to watch all the time. Since you posted that chart. I've even been testing the run of from the soil and that right there has answered some questions.

My meter took a dump and I was getting a false reading. I broke out the old trusted drops and BAM!!! My PH was "Way" to low, so I made my adjustments to my PH and to my meter. The best way to adjust a broken shitty ph meter is with a 22oz Fat Max framing hammer. It works every time.

Thanks again and I'll be keeping a closer eye on my ph. Both with a new meter and the droplets.

THanks for this chart! So, (in your opinion) does this translate in to water ph when using Pro Mix as a medium - I know it has dolomitic lime to balance. I just got a meter (was using vials) so I can test the runoff but the problem is I just transplanted from 2gallon bags to 18 gallon tubs so I wont have any significant runoff for a minute (just watered around the edges with 6.5 to get the roots shooting out.)

I've been growing organic in soil for years with great success and the only time I adjust the ph is when I flush them with water adjusted to 6.0 for the last 2 weeks. During bloom I use either Bio Canna or Bio Bizz nutes or else some homemade guano teas. I always thought organic nutes self regulated themselves,ph wise, maybe if somebody knows better then they can let me know.
I thought a ph meter couldn't measure organic nutes with good accuracy, so instead of adding lots of ph up or down I just fed my plants the nutrient mix without adjusting it and my yields from it are nearly on par with my nft system, where the ph is constantly monitored.

One thing that's been pointed out to me is that the nutrients themselves alter the pH or your reservoir, as does added water (I believe nuts lower/acidify pH, water increases/alkalizes). So this might be one reason to NOT use additional chemicals to adjust pH up or down before first adding your nutes or topping up water, since both of these adjust pH, albeit not as radically.

What I dont get though is how these charts seem to worry some of you who are using soil?
My water is about 7.5 ph or so. After putting in my nutes it goes down to about 6.8. This is perfect in my case for soil since the runoff goes down to about 5.8 in which the plants can pull their nutrients out just fine as the ph drops through this range.
My girls look great and surely are not missing anything.
I am totally organic using guano teas, molasses, and biobizz grow and bloom.
Personally I had a little harder time with hydro being so finicky and really love the organic way of growing.
To each their own though and whatever works best for ya go for it.
