It's happened throughout time, and I think especially when Christianity was rolling it's way over the people of the world, that a conquering people bringing new religion/religious practices would always incorporate some elements of the old ones to make the transition easier on the people being conquered.Most everything religious comes from pagan beliefs

It's happened throughout time, and I think especially when Christianity was rolling it's way over the people of the world, that a conquering people bringing new religion/religious practices would always incorporate some elements of the old ones to make the transition easier on the people being conquered.
Always gave me pause to think, if those beliefs are really so strong, why would you be so willing to mold them to the new region that you've just conquered? Of course, the answer is that it's really nothing to do with any Gods or God or religious beliefs, it's all about just one thing, power over people.
