saw him one night at a small club. was standing 3 feet away from him and could not believe my eyes.
Roy played and lived the blues, had battled many demon's.
He was found dead in a jail cell an apparent suicide..
Other musicians were blown away by his unique style no one had played before...
RIP Roy thanks for the memory..

apparently Roy was picked up drunk by the police and they beat him to death was ruled a suicide.

Was so lucky to be in on the 70s San Francisco music scene..
Saw the Sons last weekend minus Terry Haggarty unfourtunally..
wait til min.1.55 and watch him rip it up..
A Marin county Ca. band.
The sons came from musician families and were regarded as some of the best musicians of the time..
Terry Haggarty also won several cannabis cups back when.
OMG backstage between sets was unreal. 45 mins. non stop huge bombers of amazing weed.
They would come out and just be amazing...

Tony Rice on guitar and Sam Bush on mandolin are some of the best.
I once asked Sam how he got so good...Practice,,, practice... practice all day everyday since childhood...
