I use wood ashes from my fireplace. They are all organic from local hardwoods. A half cup or so will help to keep your growing medium buffered, plus provide plenty of P & K, as well as many micro nutrients. This eliminates, or at least reduces, the need for cal-mag and Ph up. It will raise the Ph if used excessively, which is why I mix it into the soil without using too much.
Every time I type to reply, the screen where I'm typing is cut off and I can't see what I'm actually typing. All the wrong/misspelled words are because of that.
Your growing style is most closely related to what I'm trying to do here. I don't have access to wood ash. Right now I'm using FF Grow Big at 1/4 strength every other feeding. Eventually I'd like to get away from it and take a more natural route. If I'm not mistaken, the FF is synthetic, no? Anyway, any amendments you can suggest would be appreciated.
CalMag?

Looking good to me, topping and training is more of a personal preference influenced by space available and desired end results, eg sea o green ect,
I'm my humble opinion they looking good maybe someone else may have different opinion....
Thanks. It's been a long road. Look at the dates.

The ff range has organic stuff like in big bloom, but I think the grow big and tiger bloom are synthetic nuits. Big bloom is bat guano and worm cast, gb and tb are more chemical, yep I'm also same going down more organic route when I finish these bottles

This stuff is going into my body one way or another. I don't want to put a put a bunch of unnecessary chemicals into my body if not necessary. I know it's just the growing process, but still...

If you think you can adjust your media's ph by making your water and feed in that perfect range, then go right ahead and try

a couple different strains 6 weeks after flip with a nute/water PH of 5.85 to 6.15 religiously, 3-1-4 NPK, no (P) boosters or cal mag, in both rockwool & coco & perlite.. never test runoff either.. but ok. My plants health is 2nd to none!

Ignore him, you have no idea what water source or nutes he is using.

When I run growbig and magamp only my ph is super stable, no ph adjustments. But I still check it everyday.

After you have 5 years experience, then you can stop checking it :)
Who is she ignoring? I hope it's not me, and yes P.H. of your medium is a soil issue, hydro grows have to be dialed in, soil is forgiving unless you over nute or start with too hot a mix. But keep P.H within a 6.0 - 6.8 has always worked for me. (Run off PH).

I am not an expert grower but had a hard time finding any fully organic nute lines, especially affordable ones. I ended up using Down to Earth general fertilizer. It is a dry mix, just mixed it into the soil mix. I also use worm tea with molasses bubbled for 24-72hr once a week, (It grows good bacteria in the solution and help with cal mag). Other than that, just water and let the fert feed. For my water I use tap filtered with a pur filter on my faucet. For flower I was using FF big bloom but it does not go far because of the dosage. I ended up switching and top dressing with Dr earth bud and bloom, the dry mix bag is $11 and seems to be doing it's thing. I am still using the worm teas as well. I am not fully organic as I wanted but pretty close, my next run I think I can be with a soil change though. Not saying this is best for your situation but the ferts are cheap and go a long way. I used FF ocean forest soil with 1/2 Coco coir. Hope this helps, it's hard to find affordable organic without just building your own soil or making your own solutions. I don't feel confident enough yet for either of those.

Right - and 9 times out of 10, the base nute that you're using puts you in that range - slight drops from molasses or fish are of no concern either

they look great to me too - but let me ask you this: have you done the same exact thing but without adjusting ph?

i don't bother checking runoff either - that's just a few more laps with your tail when growing in coco or soil(less) media

I have been at this for over 20 years & I have done/tried it all 5-10x over and this is my first run with the strain in the 1st two pics so it's in no way dialed in unless I just got it perfect on run #1. its only my 3rd run with the stuff in the 3rd pic so I have dialed it in somewhat

OK - ive been at it myself for about just as long...but whatever....so you're still a firm believer in adjusting the ph of your nute solution after all these years....right?

My Tap water is high PH, lots of calcium. maybe 8.5 & Jacks nutes do not lower it significantly. maybe down to an 8.2, & that 8.2 PH will not work anywhere near as good, not even close but it sure wont kill your plants or anything, you will just not maximize the plants potential
