Sunday Update

LIlSJa5

Saw this in my dreams after falling asleep on the couch last night before night fall. What a party animal, eh?

My fluffy coco buds
20200705 184227

1 gallon pot. Fluffy my ass.

Soil grow got put to the side
20200705 184326

Headed to the compost bin.

Young Ground Pounders are stretching

It's been over 100F in the greenhouses most of the day. Same yesterday.

Put the larger clone in the garage.
20200705 183848

Should be ready to smoke soon in this heat. The rest are maintaining.

Took a few more
20200704 062046

taken off 3 different plants

Found this bastard on a bud this morning
20200705 084419

I'll be spraying Bt this evening.

A cabbage moth was fluttering about in the big greenhouse this afternoon. Laid another batch of eggs I'd bet.

Getting so close
20200705 184049

There's always that bitter/sweet when taking down a plant. Can't wait to try it yet hate seeing it gone. Sure wish I could share the smell of these plants.

Until next time Happy Growing!

This has been hanging for about 2 months. Gonna make caps and tincture. Rolled up several small buds a few hours ago. Delish! Smells like grapes, taste like berries. What's not to like? Those 2 clones above are from this seeded bud and they're virgins. Oh my.

I know a few folks gave coco a try this year and another one on the other side of the equator is geared up and gonna give it a go. I'm telling ya, this coco stuff blows the doors off soil. Check out these tomatoes
20200708 205115

Not a great pic but full of fruit and flowers. I can't do this as fast in soil and I've been growing them for 50 years in soil and get this, they're in 1-2 gallon pots.

This coco and hydro nute stuff is amazing. It just takes dedication or better, an auto watering system. Still thinking about it but can't find the time. Soon. 30+ plants watered by hand 3-4 times a day is a bit much😜 but hey, I'm just a dumb plumber😉

Happy Growing!

So I'm checking out my Christmas plants and see 2 males of the Ground Pounder clones
20200709 151650

20200709 151718

Both are in Kratky bottles. I had taken 2 clones each off of 3 plants so knew I had a male in the large greenhouse. Tallest of the 3, of course
20200709 155415

20200709 155605

I'll move him outside and allow him to develop. If worthy I'll collect pollen. He is a nice one.

The other 2
20200709 155517

20200709 155523

Lookin good. No more males, got plenty🤣

Actually the first thing. Run up to the garden if I've missed another nooner. Poor tomatoes hate it but perk right up after I give 'em a little love and it's good for me to at least look at them for a few seconds but just looking once a day would be ideal.

Now mixing nutes is another thing. Some 30 gallons a day in individual bottles. Eats a lot of my time and kills my back bending over to fill all those bottles through a drinking water filter. I spend about an hour? (HAHAHAHAHA) or more a day mixing nutes, watering and trying to keep up with bugs.

I added too many tomatoes. 14 beefsteak, 12 Rugters, 8 unknown freebies, BS's or Early Girl) 5 Red Cherries and 3 Yellow Pear Shaped Cherries. 39 tomato plants, in coco. Got a rooted branch of a BS as well that I really don't wanna put in a pot. Should I mention the 4 Dragon Cucumbers or the Habanero or the Jalapeno? Then there's those funny lookin plants I see a lot of on the Farm.

How many plants is that? I got my shoes on and can't count that high😜

I'm hoping to move a 30 gallon water heater up the hill this weekend and set up something. I need to get it done as this is killing me🤪

I'm only doing 6 fall tomatoes and a couple of cherries. Grew the cherries in Kratky bottles in the big greenhouse this past winter.

Past an auto watering device I need to cut bucket lids and get it on. Bury the buckets in the ground for insulation, run air tubes with an air stone and I'd only have to deal with the water once every 10 days or so. I could grow tomatoes in the same spots every year so I could build permanent supports. I wouldn't have to grow 30+ frickin plants. No more than 10 or 12 total. And I sure would like to see how that funny looking plant would grow in this sunny so cal climate😉

I gotta go up and water and mix nutes right now. Missed noon, watered at about 2. It's 6:45, have plenty of water mixed up but after watering I'll have to mix up 20+ gallons for tomorrow. Wash, rinse, repeat😫

Spent 1 1/2 hrs mixing water, watering and checking things out
20200709 185630

I mixed 31 gallons of feed and 3 gals of concentrate. More fun then I've had since this morning.

Here's better pics of the tomatoes
20200709 190306

20200709 164434

20200709 190449

Now I can cement in the stand and build more for the whole garden if I stay with coco or go to dwc buckets.

Broke up a small branch of the Ground Pounder
20200709 190128

A lower branch I tried to root. Very nice and a joy to grow. Once I pull them down, dry and cure I'll give a smoke review.
20200709 190139

I'll give her a close look this weekend. She's getting closer.

GDP clones
20200709 190151

20200709 190206

Grape smell berry taste.

I have to spray Bt again for moth larva and tomato worms, sulfur on cucumbers and DE for ants in the greenhouses. Haven't seen an aphid in weeks. It never seems to end but I'm guessing I'll have enough to last a few weeks🤣

So the next 3 months will be harvesting and trimming and then there's Christmas harvest. Wondering when I'll sleep.

I'm done planting until Feb 25, 2021. I need a break!!!

A week or so to go
20200712 210155

GDP's
20200712 210212

IMG 20200712 232302

2 clones. 2 weeks+/-

I've added drip feeders to several plants
20200712 205601

Got these at the 99 Cent Store, 2 for $1.49 with 2.5 liter bottles attached. Ordered more from Amazon. While not ideal they keep the coco hydrated.

Gopher
20200712 210247

IMG 20200712 232340

4 weeks at least. These seem to take forever but worth the effort.

Young Ground Pounders
20200712 232529

20200712 232514

Flipped a week ago, topped to 8 colas.

All of these are in 1 gallon fiber pots of coco. Fiber pots are better suited for indoor growing as they dry out too fast outside. Plastic pots dry out too fast as well.

Realky looking forward to trying the Ground Pounders. Smell wonderful and covered in trichs. GDP mom I'm smoking now. Grapes and berries. More please!

And that frickin Gopher. Hoping it has that nasty diesel taste. Love that stuff.

Having a blast, time for another hit. Happy Growing!

you will like the GP... It's good....
Tasted a bit tonight. Yum and stoney. Swamped with work. We're, California is supposed to be shutting down again and I can't get a break.

Only one fertigation today. Can't even make myself go up to the garden, too tires. 10pm and I gotta get up at 6 to mix nutes and water heavily and water again by 8 before leaving.

Worked all frickin weekend and no end in sight. Gonna be one of those weeks. I don't even have any new pics since Sunday nor have I looked close at that one that's close.

Gonna roll up a Gopher and torch that puppy while browsing the new posts and then crash. I'm beat.😖

Two week update

Finished early today and finally have a few minutes to myself.

The 2 GDP's & 2 Ground Pounders are drying. Couple days from jarring.

That big red/purple GDP male?
IMG 20200730 155456

has decided to repopulate all by himself
IMG 20200730 155555

Been watching daily as he started to produce flowers. Interesting. He's all alone in the garden surrounded by tomatoes.

Been a while since I've had a full blown hermaphrodite. The resulting seeds will be planted Feb 25th, 2021. Should be vast majority female and I plan to plant a bunch, 50+.

Citrol Sledgehammer
20200730 155645

Topped to 8 colas, so far. Going to top again as I've got 2 more months until time to flip. Hope to clone a few as well.

Life has been crazy lately. Work is booming and my best friend/neighbor is retiring today and will be moving 3hrs north to Bakersfield. Helping one of his daughters and son-in-law. He's a good guy and will be missed. We've been spending a lot of time together, pretty much every evening and why I haven't been around. I'm gonna miss the ahole😉.

All for now, Happy Growing!

My ride this past week
20200803 093257

Transmission went out on the Yukon. Vans are great for space but ride like vans. The Yukon drives like a caddy and holds all the crap I have to carry to do my work.

Speaking of which
FB IMG 1596847791886

Doing a repipe on a mobile home with fiberglass insulation under the home. Day one I had about a pound of glass in my right eye. Fun times. Wife found swimming googles. They work.

So my life is consumed with work these days. Will get back to this growing stuff soon. Got a Ground Pounder smoke report coming up as well as an update on that Christmas harvest grow.

Ripped right now, been puffing that Ground Pounder 😜 Me like. Heavy indica. 9 lb. Hammer cross.

So I'll be back to the grind soon, just in time for my 2 week vacation. Going to Bishop next month, camping and fishing. 2 weeks (10 days if I'm lucky). Haven't had a vacation more than 3 days in 6 years.

I ordered a timer and have all the tubing for a drip system. Not ideal in coco but will keep the plants going.

I'm beat. Getting old and feeling every year. Taking this weekend off and hoping to rest. When I get up tomorrow the first thing I'm going to do is take a hit of this Ground Pounder. Sunday too!

Happy Growing!

Ground Pounder smoke report - GK Genetics
.

20200709 190119

2 female Ground Pounders. Holy smokes Batman! You want quality for a fair price? Get your credit card out and head over to GK. If I needed seeds that's where I'd go.

Ground Pounder: Gelat x 9lb Hammer.
20200830 142219

Big buds. Clipped to 4 colas. Grown in 1 gal coco w/ MasterBlend nutes. Dried on a grated shelf in a greenhouse.
20200830 170254

Gave away a couple ozs, smoked a spear a week for the month plus, manicured an oz today and still have half a bag. 3+ ozs per plant.
20200830 173531

Great look with all those red hairs and Big Buds. Smell is a sweet berry. Not as sweet as GDP which I crossed it with (Granddaddy Purple Pounder?) but very nice.

High is 9 Pound Frickin' HAMMER! Heavy Indica. Body numb, as much as any smoke. Hurting always and looking for pain relief. ALWAYS. This is nice.
20200830 171543

Very happy with taste and high.

Been puffing this in the bong for a month. First J today was nice. Got half way through it and had to put it out. I'll put it in the bong tomorrow night.😉

Great taste, great high. Mucho pain relief.

I love this strain and wish I had reproduced it as is. My bad, but, and I do mean butt! I can't wait to see what the resulting seeds produce. Granddaddy Purple will always have a spot in my garden and mixing it with Ground Pounder is intriguing.

To the two assholes who sent me seeds (I love you man😍) I'm back in the game.🤣

Sopranos

I got so many seeds I don't know what to do with 'em all.

After planting a million tomatoes in coco and my plumbing business exploding due to the rona (everyone staying home and abusing their pipes) I got a bit(?) Burned and couldn't keep up. Still ended up so much smoke that even I can use.

And that reminds me, I quit smoking...well, pretty much and started vaping. I'll post about that later.

If you think I'm going back to soil you couldn't be more wrong. Soil sucks but I'm not going to kill myself again trying to water a million plants by hand 3 plus times a day. This year it will be automated. I plan on enjoying a 10 day vacation to Bishop this year in May and won't be hampered by watering plants.

I have no plans growing Gophers this year. I hear they have been used to create a killer cross. Awesome as that was my hope. Chemdog is a strain that has produced so many favs and I'm glad I was able to add to the mix.

Even though here in Sunny So Cal I can produce 3 crops a year it's a waste. I can only consume and give away so much so this years grows will be Granddaddy Purple, GG4 x HCP and auto's Magnum x Dragon Flames.
20210320 161440

I really want to produce autos with an 8 week harvest no matter when planted. I have pollen saved from both Granddaddy Purple and Chemgopher so I'll be focusing on the autos this year. Last year I fried all my auto seeds. Long story, my bad. Not this year.

Really? So love you man. That's a step I can cross off. Two more crosses will produce what, 80%? Plan on crossing and of course will send you resulting seeds. This could be something if I can pick a winner. We'll see. It's all good no matter what😉.
