Pollinating pre-flowers

Is it possible to pollinate pre-flowers and produce seed while still in veg? Curious to see if anyone has tried this. What possible adverse affects might this have on a veging plant?

Just to clarify, you tried this on vegging plants that stayed in veg for the whole time while seeds formed?
