Dual organic soil for indoor and outdoor (buried pots, topdressed).

1 5g bucket peat moss
1 5g bucket EWC
1.5 buckets Perlite
2 cups lime
1.5 cups amendment mix (alfalfa meal, organic tomato fertilizer, crab chitin meal, kelp powder)
1/2 bucket fresh biochar (start a fire, get it crazy hot, then spread the coals, put out the fire with a hose, and let them smoulder until they're black and hollow-sounding)
1c molasses
1/4 c neem oil
Mikes
Sauerkraut juice (for lactobacillus)

This gets a rotation of (all lazily aerated) kelp tea, 5m tea (composted chicken, sheep, steer, and mushroom manures and EWC), lacto tea (aka watered down sauerkraut juice with molasses in it), and compost tea once a week.

I have been using a blend of Ocean Forest and Light Warrior for about 10 years. I mix in a precise eye ball amount of our house compost as well as Azomite, sea kelp, mammoth microbes. I will use organic molasses and compost teas before flushing for my outdoor crop.

Don't get bent out of shape.
Just giving you alternatives for when you put that outdoor plot in and your mix calls for $1,000 worth of perlite.

I can't even begin to count how much money I 'wasted' on all sorts of shit. We all spend money, but we also let eachother know about money saving opportunities...because as time goes on...a penny saved is a penny earned, in a big way.

Just give it time, it will make sense.
and if outside, no worms will visit you, if you have perlite. they dont like it. it hurts em.

Gonna throw a winter kiss soil together right now, and plant in it today.

ewc - homeade
crab shell compost- local source
perlite- homies ;)
ss mix #4 - local nursery

50/50 mix of ewc/compost, then 50/50 that mix with perlite, then 50/50 that mix with ss#4. viola kissy/cheep/effective soil. Great for all phases from seed to flower.

Thank you to all those who have cleared a path for the aspiring organic growers. I am truely grateful for all you have shared.

Uses for my serl?

Well, a few:

Serissa Foetida (The Snow Rose) - inside /outside bonsai trees - zone 6
Magnolia tree seed sprouting - first shot, gonna try two diff methods
Bog - BMR, Ogs - WVP, Gps - CnC - all reg photo :)

I just made a batch

3 bales of peat
8 cubic feet perlite
2 8 pound bags of worm castings
2 cups bone meal
2 cups blood meal
6 cups espoma tomatotone(got a bunch of these marked down last year)
1 bag of pelletized lime from home depot, the little bag, I don't remember what size they are
2 cups epsom salt
2 bags of happy frog
1 bag of organic compost from home depot

It's such a bitch to mix big ass soil batches by myself, woulda been enough for a couple years if I didn't decide to plant so many veggies because of the apocalypse.

What im making for this years outdoor grows.

  • Fox Farm Ocean Forest
  • Down to Earth Root Zone (seriously you guys gotta try this. The FF soil cooking atm smells orgasmic )
  • Epson Salt
  • Coco Coir (No extra perlite this time.)

Keep it simple?

Question:

Why Happy frog?

Why not Ocean forest and just save your money on castings/bone/blood meal? And or just amend it later on. 900ppm isnt that hot imo. never had issues with seedings in it.

Curiosity killed the cat.

I buy a bunch of it at a time and get it cheaper. I also like putting little plants in straight happy frog for simplicity's sake. FFOF burns babies in my experience. Happy frog and perlite is awesome for the after seedling stage and in my head blending it into the main mix cuts down on stress.

First time pot grower so the only recipe I knew was the one I've used for my vegetable container garden:
2 parts top soil
1 part composted manure
1 part sphagnum peat moss.

I threw in a handful of Happy Frog Organic Tomato & Vegetable into the soil.
I'm also steeping Happy Frog + a little Blood Meal in a gallon of water to feed the plants once a week.

Honestly, the plants are doing way better than the plants I'm feeding Fox Farms liquid fertilizer trio.

Happy Frog on the left. Fox Farms on the right.

Alot of great ingredients here.
Bus blend is great compost but is a little dense to use without any other base. So I would consider adding some woodier compost, peat or coco to balance it.

Wouldn't the pro mix bx and the perlite be enough to help with that??
