My biggest problem with the UC is getting buds so large their stems bend and plants fall over. Plz help!

Man doesn't kid.

So are you saying I should mix the greatwhite in a rez for two days.. then add my nutes and put into the epi??? Sorry I am sorta the slow child.. been eating too many of these sandwiches..

Yup, mix your tea in a separate container(48 hour brew). Add 1 cup of tea per gallon of nutrient solution to inoculate, and follow up with re-inoculation as needed.
The Humus is the most important ingredient (has the greatest diversity), the Zho or Great and Aquasheild are added to insure specific microbes are present.

Yes.

This is a fantastic thread!

I would like to know, like RollinEnough, if there is something I should be doing for bud growth...full H&G/GreatWhite and 1 UC just doesn't seem to be flowering too well. Almost like it is nute locked at 1000ppm (.7 conversion)

In theory, running bennies like this, could you avoid the need for a cooler or safely be able to have a warmer temp?

IF you have a thriving microbe community you no longer have to worry about res temps. Room temperature is fine.

Keep in mind the correlation between DO levels and temp.....the higher the temp the lower the DO. Room temp can be problematic, especially if running CO2 and 80+F room temps. I tend to feel like over 78F and a grower should begin considering cooling strategies.

With this said I'd still be shooting for cool root temps (67-70F), but knowing that no chiller doesn't need to equate to a death sentence for the crop is reassuring.

Dave, drop the H&G......the formula doesn't bloom well in the UC IMO
Way too much N and iron causing excess chloraphyll production and plants spending extra energy in bloom growing leaves. They need to develop a bloom specific formula for the Aqua Flakes if it's gonna work well in the UC.

I'd recommend swithching to canna aqua flores in bloom and follow that schedule for best results.

Daniel (CC) mentioned they've been getting frequent calls lately from growers using H&G having pH issues as well....said they've stopped recommending as a result of all the issues.

Exactly. That was purely genetics on autopilot. Sadly I can't make PK or Chemdog D do the same thing in similar conditions.

Down side to running those fat haze strains is bloom duration. At 12 weeks you're cutting into half of another grow if you've got an 8 week kush.

Update..

So I removed all the dead and yellow leaves this morning and the plants been doing what appears to be OKAY...from the top.. ya til I looked at my roots and did this..

In which case my plants told me this when I looked at their roots.....

So they are growing but NO new roots.. and I dunno what to do.. should I just kill them and start over..
Fuck

well hey, for as bad as the roots look, the new growth looks pretty good imo, i think you should stick it out a little bit longer if you're not in a huge hurry to harvest. ~positive vibes~ lol

Ya I will let them go for now.. I mean if they are growing they are growing.. But it CANT be good with that shit on them..especially if they are not growing new roots.

are your airstones in the buckets? I see both holes taped over.

Dam bro
You should give them babies a tap water bath in a 5 gal bucket and clean all that shit off "if it will". Are you using the dmgold? Thats whats its been doing to me off and on except the plants always keep going. They will recover just get that shit off em and flush the system replenish with fresh mix.
Good luck
BG

They are really far gone, but my advice...

Pull them out, hang them over the sink and spray them directly with a 3% h202 solution. Give the roots a slight tug and remove what you can. Spray them off really well with water, and snip any really bad ones that remain.

Prepare a fresh res and follow the instructions for the microbe tea. Make sure the microbes are already active when you add them.

Ya see the thing is that it IS fresh water and only half strength DM gold nutes...I shut everything down.. fuck this grow I am going to have to start over its wasting electricity and co2 on plants that will just ultimately either not produce shit or die from whatever that crud is.

Someone had good results foilar feeding them 3x's a day. feed, water, feed until the roots grow back.

Remove the dead root matter to spur new root growth....do that first and pearly white will soon follow assuming you can avoid what torched the roots in the first place.

Once decayed roots are removed inoc as instructed by Heisenbergs.
